  • In the micro hole punching, the size and shape of burr and burnish zone are very important factors to evaluate quality of micro holes which depend on punch-die clearance, stain rate, workpiece material and etc. To get micro holes with small burr and wide burnish zone for industrial demands, not only the parametric study but also a study on fracture behavior in shear band are necessary. In this study, 100 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ micro holes in diameter were fabricated on brass (Cu63/Zn37) and SUS 316 foils as aspect ratio 1:1, and the characteristics of micro holes was investigated comparing with man holes over several mm by scanning electron microscopic views and section views. Like macro hole, micro hole is also composed of 4 portions, rollover, burnish zone, fracture zone and it shows similar fracture behavior in shear band, but? by high strain rate (10$^2$∼ 10$^3$s$\^$-1/) unlike macro hole fabrication and increment of relative grain size several different results are shown.

  • Technology for electric lighting has been evolving from Incandescent Lamp(IL) through Fluorescent Lamp(FL) and currently to Solid State Lighting(SSL) such as LED for more than 130 years of time. However, it took more than 100 years until the transition from IL to FL across overall society. That is because the transition is the Socio-Technical Transition(STT) which involves various social elements. This study investigated and analyzed the theories regarding STT, and applied the Multi-Level Perspective(MLP) theory to the case of electric lighting. A qualitative contents analysis was used with secondary data as research method, and the analyzed result was visualized based on the frame of MLP theory. The STT of electric lighting from IL to FL took place as the order of Technical Niche, Socio-Technical Regime and Landscape. Specifically, in Technical Niche level: Establishing Market Niche, Price-Performance Improvement, Learning Process and Support of Powerful Group took place. In Socio-Technical Regime level: Changes in Social Network, Changes in Technology and Changes in Rules. In Landscape level: Macro-Political Development, Socio-Economic Trends and Macro-Economic Trends took place in consecutive order.

  • In this paper, masonry infilled reinforced concrete (RC) frames are analyzed through a probabilistic approach. A macro-modeling technique, based on an equivalent diagonal pin-jointed strut, has been resorted to for modelling the stiffening contribution of the masonry panels. Since it is quite difficult to decide which mechanical characteristics to assume for the diagonal struts in such simplified model, the strut width is here considered as a random variable, whose stochastic characterization stems from a wide set of empirical expressions proposed in the literature. The stochastic analysis of the masonry infilled RC frame is conducted via the Probabilistic Transformation Method by employing a set of space transformation laws of random vectors to determine the probability density function (PDF) of the system response in a direct manner. The knowledge of the PDF of a set of response indicators, including displacements, bending moments, shear forces, interstory drifts, opens an interesting discussion about the influence of the uncertainty of the masonry infills and the resulting implications in a design process.

  • A study has been made on the preparation of liquid resin of non-solvent and non-discoloration type for replacement of the soft PVC at room temperature. A new synthetic process was developed by structure-control design of polyurethane synthesis using pre-polymer and polyols as curing agent. The optimum recipe was made according to macro-glycols, molecular weight and reaction conditions, and the final products indicated that the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, tear strength and flexibility was very excellent than PVC products. Also, viscosity, hardness and color operations of the final products can be controlled by this system. And yellowing property by UV and NOx gas was improved from the various additive experiment.

  • We fabricated multi-scale such as macro-, micro-, and multi-scale wrinkles by using repetitive volume dividing (RVD) method and thermal curing process. Also wrinkle surface was modified with coating of a self-assembled monolayer (SAM). We measured the contact angle of each wrinkled surface, and observed the behavior of droplets on sloping surface. Through experimental study, we found out that the contact angle was much higher in case of multi-scale and SAM coated wrinkles. And micro-scale wrinkle showed a high contact angle comparing with that of macro-scale wrinkle. Dynamic behaviors of a water droplet like sliding velocity on diverse wrinkled surfaces were dependent on their static contact angles. These results showed that hydro-dynamic characteristics were changed depending on the wrinkle structure and the material forming the wrinkle. These dynamic characteristics can be utilized in bio-chip, microfluidics, and many others in order to control easily chemical reactivity.

  • Tracking is a process which explores user equipment (UE) in the area of tracking in terms of cells. In this paper, two tracking schemes based on macrocell-microcell tiers in hierarchical LTE networks, PMMT and IMMT, are evaluated. In this network, UE can receive a signal from macrocells and overlapping microcells, and can be called from each macrocell or microcell-tier in the PMMT. Also, the UE can be called from the combined macrocell-tier and microcell-tier in the IMMT. Finally, we analyze the optimization of load balance between marcocell-tier and microcell-tier, and an analytical model is developed to evaluate those two arrangements.

  • Because complex insulation method is used in EHV(extra high voltage) insulation systems, macro Interfaces between two different bulk materials which affect the stability of insulation system exist inevitably. Interface between toughened epoxy and silicone rubber was selected as a interface in EHV insulation systems and tested AC interfacial breakdown properties with variation of many conditions to influence on electrical Properties, such as interfacial pressure, roughness and oil. Specimen was designed to reduce the effect of charge transport from electrode in the process of breakdown and to have the tangential electrical potential with the direction of the interface between epoxy and silicone rubber by using FEM(finite elements method). It could control the interfacial pressure, roughness and viscosity of oil. From the result of this study, it was shown that the interfacial breakdown voltage is improved by increasing interfacial Pressure and oil. In particular, the dielectric strength saturates at certain interracial Pressure level. The decreasing ratio of the interfacial breakdown voltage in non-oiled specimen was increased by the temperature rising, while oiled specimen was not affected by temperature.

  • In the presence of a high power cellular network, picocells are added to a Macro-cell layout aiming to enhance total system throughput from cell-splitting. While because of the different transmission power between macrocell and picocell, and co-channel interference challenges between the existing macrocell and the new low power node-picocell, these problems result in no substantive improvement to total system effective throughput. Some works have investigated on these problems. Pico Cell Range Expansion (CRE) technique tries to employ some methods (such as adding a bias for Pico cell RSRP) to drive to offload some UEs to camp on picocells. In this work, we propose two solution schemes (including cell selection method, channel allocation and serving process) and combine new adaptive frequency partitioning reuse scheme to improve the total system throughput. In the simulation, we evaluate the performances of heterogeneous networks for downlink transmission in terms of channel utilization per cell (pico and macro), call blocking probability, outage probability and effective throughput. The simulation results show that the call blocking probability and outage probability are reduced remarkably and the throughput is increased effectively.

  • In this paper, we derive the expression of the cache hitting probability with random caching policy and propose the joint optimization algorithm based on difference of convex algorithm (DCA) in the three-tier caching heterogeneous cellular network assisted by macro base stations, helpers and users. Under the constraint of the caching capacity of caching devices, we establish the optimization problem to maximize the cache hitting probability of the network. In order to solve this problem, a convex function is introduced to convert the nonconvex problem to a difference of convex (DC) problem and then we utilize DCA to obtain the optimal caching probability of macro base stations, helpers and users for each content respectively. Simulation results show that when the density of caching devices is relatively low, popular contents should be cached to achieve a good performance. However, when the density of caching devices is relatively high, each content ought to be cached evenly. The algorithm proposed in this paper can achieve the higher cache hitting probability with the same density.

  • In order to deeply reveal the working mechanism of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) filled steel tubular columns (UHPCFSTs) under cyclic loading, a three-dimension (3D) macro-mesoscale finite element (FE) model was established considering the randomness of steel fibers and the damage of UHPC. Model correctness and reliability were verified based on the experimental results. Next, the whole failure process of UHPC reinforced with steel fibers, passive confinement effect and internal force distribution laws were comprehensively analyzed and discussed. Finally, a simplified and practical method was proposed for predicting the ultimate bending strengths of UHPCFSTs. It was found that the non-uniform confinement effect of steel tube occurred when the drift ratio exceeded 0.5%, while the confining stress increased then decreased afterwards. There was preferable synergy between the steel tube and UHPC until failure. Compared with experimental results, the ultimate bending strengths of UHPCFSTs were undervalued by the current code provisions such as AISC360-10, EC4 and GB50936 with computed mean values (MVs) of 0.855, 0.880 and 0.836, respectively. The proposed practical method was highly accurate, as evidenced by a mean value of 1.058.
