The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of convergent approach of mathematics education on students' problem-solving ability and self-efficacy by designing and applying mathematics curriculum based on STEAM. The results are as follows. First, the test results between the two groups did not show any statistically significant difference in terms of problem solving ability, but the experimental group showed a higher average score than the comparative group. Compared with the standard deviation of the experimental group, It can be seen that the level of difference between students is great. This suggests that STEAM-based mathematics lessons have a positive effect on the problem solving ability of low-level students. Second, the results of the self-efficacy t-test of STEAM-based mathematics class showed statistically significant results at a 5% significance level. In the sub-domain, the preference for the difficulty of the mathematics task, except math self-confidence and the math self-regulation efficacy, were statistically significant at a 5% significance level. This study shows that STEAM-based mathematics classes have a positive effect on the students' positive aspects. Through the STEAM program, students learn that mathematics is connected with other fields, and it provides an opportunity to explore on their own, and they more became interested, motivated, and achievement. Also, through the results of the STEAM-based mathematics class, it can be seen that the expressive power and self-confidence are increased by using the non-formal representation outside of the existing formal representation center. The result of this study can be summarized as follows: A STEAM-based mathematics class has a positive effect on problem solving ability and self-efficacy. Therefore, it is interpreted that the application of the STEAM program focusing on mathematics accounts for education effectives.

The purpose of this study was to the effects of case-based learning (CBL) on problem solving ability and academic self-efficacy in nursing students and was a quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 121 grade 4 students, and the data collection period was from Aprill 24 to June 12, 2023. The research procedure was scenario development, preliminary investigation, application of case-based learning classes, and follow-up investigation, and the CBL was conducted for 2 weeks, 50 minutes per week. The general characteristics of the subjects were obtained by frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation and the effects of CBL on problem solving ability and academic self-efficacy was tested using a paired t-test. The results of this study showed that nursing students' problem solving ability (t=-5.70, p<.001) and academic self-efficacy (t=-3.25, p<.002) improved after applying CBL compared to before applying it. We suggest the use of case-based learning as a strategy to improve problem-solving skills and academic self-efficacy in nursing education. In the future, follow-up research is needed to verify the effectiveness by developing and applying step-by-step clinical cases at an appropriate level according to the learning content of nursing major subjects by grade.

In this paper, we developed a problem-solving based safety education program using physical computing for middle school students and applied it to verify the impact on self-efficacy and interest. The safety education program developed in this study includes four stages of the creative problem-solving model: problem identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and learning activities using Arduino, a physical computing tool. After implementing the education program with 77 third-year middle school students, both self-efficacy and interest of middle school students increased significantly. Based on the research results, the effectiveness of the safety education program that used physical computing and problem-solving steps was confirmed, and practical implications were presented to promote the activation of physical computing education in the school field.

This study was conducted to explore factors for evaluating creative problem-solving ability and to identify measurement items. After reviewing the previous study, a questionnaire was conducted, and from that, 7 factors and 26 preliminary questions were obtained. Regarding the creative problem-solving ability, problem-discovery ability, idea generation ability, idea evaluation ability, and idea execution ability were confirmed in the problem-solving process. In addition, the factors of interaction ability between problem solving practitioners and creative efficacy of problem solving practitioners were explored. Finally, in the above results, metaphors and figurative cognitive thinking ability and evaluation items for creative problem-solving ability of HTE creative education model were presented. Through subsequent studies, we hope to serve as the groundwork of the evaluation model of HTE creative education.
The purpose of this study was to test the effects of simulation-based delivery nursing practice on proactivity of problem-solving, clinical Performance and team efficacy in nursing college students. This study conducted with a quasi-experimental one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the study were those who participated in the pretest-posttest survey among third graders in nursing who took a simulation-based delivery nursing practice class at S university in D city, and finally, data from 78 students who completed the survey were analyzed. Data collection was conducted from August 30, 2022 to October 28, 2022, and data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0 program. The findings suggest that simulation-based delivery nursing practice had a positive effect by significantly increasing on problem-solving proactivity, clinical performance ability, and team efficacy. However, There are limitations in generalizing the study results. therefore based on a sufficient number of samples, the effects should be verified through randomized controlled pre-and post-test and, To determine whether the effects are consistent, it will be necessary to follow up in the long term.

This study was intended to investigate predictability among variables having an effect on problem solving skill and achievement in collaborative learning by utilizing SNS at university. To this end, 61 first-year students majoring in early childhood education at I community university in the national capital region were surveyed. And on the basis of the collected data, a multiple regression analysis was carried out. The results of carrying out the analysis are as follows. First, it was shown that self-efficacy, peer learning and help seeking had a significant effect on problem solving skill, and explained 70 of variability in problem solving skill. Second, it was shown that peek learning, help seeking and problem solving skill significantly predicted achievement, and explained 72% of the variability in achievement. Third, problem solving skill partially mediated the relationship between self-efficacy and achievement. The above-mentioned results imply that learning motivation should be increased so that learners have self-efficacy in order to improve college students' academic achievement in collaborative learning by utilizing SNS at university, and a class environment making it possible to actively provide peer learning and help seeking should be designed and a specific scheme enabling the enhancement of the problem solving skill should be considered.

In the programming education, there is a great need of a teaching support system that can support the learner in the programming process regardless of the computer language due to instructor's difficulty of checking the progress of learners in real-time. Its importance is especially important in lower grade coding classes such as in K-12 education because they are not used to coding and so simple problems can be regarded as complex problems. For this, a pilot coding education support system based on Levenshtein distance algorithm which shows learners' progress to given solution in real-time was developed in order to help learners to solve complex problems easily, and the learners' motivation and self-efficacy was measured for estimating the usefulness of developed system targeting elementary school students. When the learners use the developed system, it was found that a statistically significant difference appears in the sub-factors of learning motivation compared with traditional class teaching environments. Among the sub-factors of self-efficacy, the efficacy dimension showed statistically significant difference too.

Purpose: Objective Structured Clinical Examination(OSCE) has been used for clinical skill evaluation. This study was done investigate whether there are positive impact educational effects if nursing students are invited to develop OSCE modules. Method: The participants were 63 second-year students in one nursing college. Students were divided into 3 groups; the OSCE module development group(Exp1), traditional study group(Exp2), and control group(Cnt). Students were allocated according to clinical skill test scores to make the 3 groups equal. Exp1 developed OSCE modules, and Exp2 studied using traditional methods. Clinical skill tests and surveys were done to measure self-directed readiness, problem-solving ability, and self-efficacy before and after experimental treatments. Results: Clinical skill test scores increased significantly in all three groups, but Exp1 and Exp2 showed a higher clinical skill test score increment than Cnt. Self-directed readiness scores increased significantly in Exp1, but not in Exp2 and Cnt. Problem-solving ability scores increased significantly in Exp1 compared to Cont. Conclusion: Development of OSCE modules has positive educational effects for participating students in terms of clinical skill tests, self-directed readiness, and problem-solving ability.
In this study, tlhe relationships of high school students' abilities to solve chemistry problems with cognitive variables (logical thinking ability, mental capacity. and learning strategy) and affective variables(self-efficacy, self-concept of ability, learning goal, and attitude toward science) were investigated. The proportion of variance due to the variables for algorithmic and conceptual problem solving ability was studied by a multiple regression analysis. The results indicated that, among the cognitive variables, the logical thinking ability significantly predicted the algorithmic problem solving ability, and the learning strategy was the best predictor of conceptual problem solving ability although not significant. Among the affective variables studied, the self-concept of alility was the significant predictor of both algorithmic and conceptual problem solving abilities. The seif-efficacy was significantly correlated with conceptual problem solving ability, but it had no predictive power.
