A spatio-temporal searcher structure for 3rd generation W-CDMA systems is proposed to enhance the detection capability of the multi-path searcher for the desired signal. This searcher employs the spatio-temporal signal structure to search for newly emerging multipath signals. The proposed multi-path searcher provides better detection capability andthus reduces the mean acquisition time. The detection and false alarm probabilities of new and conventional schemes are calculated and numerical examples of mean acquisition time are given thereafter.

Cognitive radio is an efficient technique to improve spectrum efficiency and relieve the pressure of spectrum resources. In this paper, we investigate the spectrum sensing period in cooperative relay cognitive radio networks; analyze the relationship between the available capacity and the signal-to-noise ratio of the received signal of second users, the target probability of detection and the active probability of primary users. Finally, we derive the closed form expression of the optimal spectrum sensing period in terms of maximum throughput. We simulate the probability of false alarm and available capacity of cognitive radio networks and compare optimal spectrum sensing period scheme with fixed sensing period one in these performance. Simulation results show that the optimal sensing period makes the cognitive networks achieve the higher throughput and better spectrum sensing performance than the fixed sensing period does. Cooperative relay cognitive radio networks with optimal spectrum sensing period can achieve the high capacity and steady probability of false alarm in different target probability of detection. It provides a valuable reference for choosing the optimal spectrum sensing period in cooperative relay cognitive radio networks.
The prediction of detection range of a passive sonar system is essential to estimate the performance and to optimize the operation of a developed sonar system. In this paper, a model for the prediction of detection range in a range-dependent ocean environment based on the sonar equation is developed and tested. The prediction model calculates the transmission loss using PE propagation model, signal excess, and the detection probability at each target depth and range. The detection probability is integrated to give the estimated detection range. In order to validate the developed model, two cases are considered. One is the case when target depth is known. The other is the case when the target depth is unknown. The computational results agree well with the previously published results for the range-independent environment. Also, the developed model is applied to the range-dependent ocean environment where the warm eddy exists. The computational results are shown and discussed. The developed model can be used to find the optimal frequency of detection, as well as the optimal search depth for the given range-dependent ocean environment.

In this paper, the performance on the PN code acquisition of DS/CDMA system was analyzed using the Nakagami-m probability density function considered fading environment. The equations on detection probability, $P_D$ and false alarm probability, ($P_{FA}$, decision variables affecting the PN code acquisition time were derived and proved using simulation in order to analyze the performance. In conclusion, It was necessary increasing the gain of PLL for correcting phase errors and improving the acquisition performance of PN code in apply to the rake receiver.

In this parer, we analyze the preamble model in the OFDMA/TDD(OFDM-FDMA/Time Division Duplexing). Besides, under AWGN, ITU-R M.1225 Ped-B and Veh-A channel environments, we analyze capabilities of symbol timing & carrier frequency offset and performance of cell searching capabilities applied to OFDM/TDD system through computer simulation. The performance using Detection Probability, False Alarm Probability, Missing Probability, Mean Acquisition Time and MSE(Mean Square Error) is analyzed. Especially, in the case of symbol timing offset estimation, the preamble structure and its algorithm with enhanced performance are proposed and then compared with existing ones.

When a primary user transmits over some frequency band assigned to it, most of its transmission power tends to be concentrated in the band but a small portion of it spreads into the adjacent bands. Thus the false alarm probability for the adjacent bands can be higher than expected, even though no primary users are active in the bands. A previous work evaluated the effects of the adjacent channel leakage on the performance of an energy detection based spectrum sensing but it did not take into account the fading phenomenon. In this paper, we analyze the effects of the adjacent channel leakage on an energy detection based spectrum sensing scheme in terms of detection probability and false alarm probability in a fading environment.
The use of drone-bots is demanded in times regarding the reduction of military force, the spread of the life-oriented thought, and the use of innovative technology in the defense through the fourth industrial revolution. Especially, the drone's surveillance and reconnaissance are expected to play a big role in the future battlefield. However, there are not many cases in which the concept of operation is studied scientifically. In this study, We propose search algorithms for reconnaissance drone through simulation analysis. In the simulation, the drone and target move linearly in continuous space, and the target is moving adopting the Random-walk concept to reflect the uncertainty of the battlefield. The research investigates the effectiveness of existing search methods such as Parallel and Spiral Search. We analyze the probabilistic analysis for detector radius and the speed on the detection probability. In particular, the new detection algorithms those can be used when an enemy moves toward a specific goal, PS (Probability Search) and HS (Hamiltonian Search), are introduced. The results of this study will have applicability on planning the path for the reconnaissance operations using drone-bots.

This Paper deals with detection and defense methods for underwater weapons because there are so many dangers of underwater weapons not only in the war period but also in the peace time. Underwater mines are the representative strategic arms. The sensors and target detection methods, threat elimination method of mines included in this paper. Among the various sensors of mine, we use the magnetometor for target detection method in the simulation and execute the analysis of magnetic field of detected target ships. It will be also provided that effectiveness of target detection, sweeping method of mine, tactics of mine planning and mine sweeping and so on.

In space based constellation network, users are allowed to enter or leave the network arbitrarily. Hence, the number, identities and transmitted data of active users vary with time and have considerable impacts on the receiver's performance. The so-called problem of multiuser detection means identifying the identity of each active user and detecting the data transmitted by each active user. Traditional methods assume that the number of active users is equal to the maximum number of users that the network can hold. The model of traditional methods are simple and the performance are suboptimal. In this paper a Maximum A Posteriori Probability (MAP) based multiuser detection method is proposed. The proposed method models the activity state of users as Markov chain and transforms multiuser detection into searching optimal path in grid map with BCJR algorithm. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method obtains 2.6dB and 1dB Eb/N0 gains respectively when activity detection error rate and symbol error rate reach 10-3, comparing with reference methods.
Current maintenance operations and integrity checks on a wide array of structures require personnel entry into normally-inaccessible or hazardous areas to perform necessary nondestructive inspections. To gain access for these inspections, structure must be disassembled and removed or personnel must be transported to remote locations. The use of in-situ sensors, coupled with remote interrogation, can be employed to overcome a myriad of inspection impediments stemming from accessibility limitations, complex geometries, the location and depth of hidden damage, and the isolated location of the structure. Furthermore, prevention of unexpected flaw growth and structural failure could be improved if on-board health monitoring systems were used to more regularly assess structural integrity. A research program has been completed to develop and validate Comparative Vacuum Monitoring (CVM) Sensors for surface crack detection. Statistical methods using one-sided tolerance intervals were employed to derive Probability of Detection (POD) levels for a wide array of application scenarios. Multi-year field tests were also conducted to study the deployment and long-term operation of CVM sensors on aircraft. This paper presents the quantitative crack detection capabilities of the CVM sensor, its performance in actual flight environments, and the prospects for structural health monitoring applications on aircraft and other civil structures.
