Interrupt handling is generally separated from process scheduling. This can lead to a scheduling anomaly and priority inversion. The processor can interrupt a higher priority process that is currently executing, in order to handle a network packet reception interruption on behalf of its intended lower priority receiver process. We propose a new network interrupt handling scheme that combines interrupt handling with process scheduling and the priority of the process. The proposed scheme employs techniques to identify the intended receiver process of an incoming packet at an earlier phase. We implement a prototype system of the proposed scheme on Linux 2.6, and our experiment results show that the prototype system supports the predictable real-time behavior of higher priority processes even when excessive traffic is sent to lower priority processes.
This paper investigates the design of a priority rule in a multi-product disassembly environment. Specifically, it is concerned with product scheduling by which the inventory control of disassembled parts can be incorporated into a priority rule to reduce part lead times. The part lead time consists of two components: flow time and supply delay. The primary focus of the paper is on the development of a disassembly priority rule that aims to reduce the supply delay. We propose a priority rule, called Minimum Distance (MD) rule, to improve the supply delay performance. Finally, we provide a comparative analysis on the performance of traditional rules and the new rule proposed in this paper via a simulation model.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the safety of evacuation using the Pathfinder program for the alert at once, the priority alarm method, the priority alarm method for the four floors above, and the sequential priority alarm method, which is a modification of the priority alarm method specified in the tourist hotel building. Currently, in Korea's National Fire Safety Codes (NFSC), fire alarm methods are compulsorily applied differently depending on the number of floors and total floor area of a building. Although the growth rate is getting faster due to the diversification of building structures, it is still an obstacle to improving evacuation safety to comply with the standardized fire alarm method in NFSC. As a result of the experiment, the evacuation time was found to be faster with the priority alarm method for the four floors above than the priority alarm method applied to the specific firefighting object. Compared to the priority alarm method applied to the tourist hotel, which is a specific firefighting target with 5 or more floors and a total floor area of more than 3,000m2, the time was shortened by 3.7 seconds when measured by applying the priority alarm method for the four floors directly above. This indicates that it is necessary to take measures to select a fire alarm method suitable for the structure and environmental conditions of the building rather than applying the uniform NFSC regulations.

As Internet protocol and wireless communications have developed, the number of different types of mobile services has increased gradually. Existing priority-computing schemes cannot satisfy the dynamic requirements of supporting multiple services in future wireless communication systems, because the currently used factors, mainly user priority, are relatively simple and lack relevancy. To solve this problem and provide the desired complexity, dynamic behavior, and fairness features of 3G and beyond 3G mobile communication systems, this paper proposes a novel cross-layer dynamic integrated priority-computing scheme that computes the priority based on a variety of factors, including quality of service requirements, subscriber call types, waiting time, movement mode, and traffic load from the corresponding layers. It is observed from simulation results that the proposed dynamic integrated priority scheme provides enhanced performance.
PURPOSES : This study prioritizes potential technology for establishing a safe work zone environment on roadways. We consider almost all conceivable technologies that enable mitigation of unexpected accidents for both road workers and drivers. METHODS : This study suggests a methodology to set the priority of potential technology for establishing a safe work zone environment by using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). For this purpose, the AHP structure was first developed. Thereafter, a web-based survey was conducted to collect experts' opinions. Based on the survey results, weights associated with the relevant criteria of the developed structure were estimated. With the consistency index (CI) and consistency ratio (CR), we verified the estimated weights. In addition, a sensitivity analysis was performed to confirm whether the estimated weights were reliable. We finally proposed the priority for potential technology for establishing a safe work zone environment on roadways. RESULTS : In the first level, safety technology has the highest priority, and real-time information delivery for work zone, hazard warning for drivers, and temporal automated operation for traffic facilities were selected in the second level of hierarchy. CONCLUSIONS : The results imply that establishing the priority will be useful to establish a future road map for improving the work environment for road workers and drivers by employing appropriate protection facilities and developing safety systems.

This study has identified human performance research issues associated with the implementation of new technology in nuclear power plants (NPPs). To identify the research issues, current industry developments and trends were evaluated in the areas of reactor technology, instrumentation and control technology, human-system integration technology, and human factors engineering (HFE) methods and tools. The issues were prioritized into four categories based on evaluations provided by 14 independent subject matter experts representing vendors, utilities, research organizations and regulators. Twenty issues were categorized into the top priority category. The study also identifies the priority of each issue and the rationale for those in the top priority category. The top priority issues were then organized into research program areas of: New Concepts of Operation using Multi-agent Teams, Human-system Interface Design, Complexity Issues in Advanced Systems, Operating Experience of New and Modernized Plants, and HFE Methods and Tools. The results can serve as input to the development of a long-term strategy and plan for addressing human performance in these areas to support the safe operation of new NPPs.
The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is known as a very useful decision-making model developed for obtaining the relative weights of alternatives through pairwise comparison in the context of hierarchical structure. In this paper, we propose a method to reflect the reliability of evaluators in the process of pairwise comparison. This method is applied to the evaluation of aerospace technology alternatives. We have conducted a questionnaire survey for S company that is one of the representative aerospace companies in Korea. A questionnaire was designed for obtaining both the priority with considering the reliability of evaluators' importance weights (the modified AHP priority) and the priority with assuming equally reliable evaluators' importance weights (the AHP priority) in order to compare the priority derived by each of two methods. The result shows that there exists the difference hard to neglect between the final priorities gained by two methods.
The aim of this paper is to show the process of R&D Project-Priority Ordering in the Defense Technology field. We propose specific methods (Delphi, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Scoring) to order the R&D Project-Priority. In general, to decide the priority of R&D projects most of researches depend on questionnaires which are surveyed by experts. However, it is criticized that this process cannot reflect the limitation of experience and knowledge of experts. In this process, we separate evaluators in two parts: the first is strategic experts, the second is technical experts. Evaluators can choose and evaluate the alternatives which they are familiar with, so we can obtain reliable results. Finally, based on our process of the R&D Project-Priority Ordering we formulate policy implications for managing the defense technology.

In recent years, the problem of spectrum mobility in Cognitive Radio (CR) Networks has been widely investigated. In order to utilize spectrum resources completely, many spectrum handoff techniques based on game theory have been proposed, but most studies only concern that users how to achieve better payoffs, without much attention to the diverse needs of users. In this paper, we propose a new channel-switching model based on game theory, using a prioritized approach to meet the diverse needs of users in two different modes (CQ and PS). At the same time, this paper proposes some acceleration techniques to reach the Nash equilibrium more efficiently. We evaluate the performance of the proposed schemes depending on priority using real channel availability measurements, and conclude that the channel quality function (CQ) mode provide better service for priority user but the plan-sorting (PS) mode can be more suitable in multiple priority users exist scene.
