Objectives: There is requirement to select candidate materials for chronic inhalation/carcinogenicity testing, so we would like to set the priority of candidate materials. Methods and Results: We recommend the priorities for candidate materials based on the chemicals stipulated in the Occupational Safety and Health Act(OSHAct) and the Toxic Chemicals Control Act(TCCA) in Korea. Conclusions: We presented candidate chemicals consisting of solids(powders), gases and liquids(Such as organic solvents) with priorities.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore clinical nurse's reported conflict experience toward end-of-life medical decision making. Methods: Data were collected by in-depth interviews with eight nurses from three different wards of university hospital in D city of Korea. Conventional qualitative analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: Results were three major themes and twelve categories from the analysis. The three major themes were prioritization of treatment, non-disclosure of diagnosis, and hierarchical and power relations. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that shared decision making in end of life among patient, family members, physician, and nurse may contribute to improve end-of-life care performance as well as dignified dying of patient in end of life.

Wireless multimedia networks require channel allocation strategies for various multimedia traffic since the mobility of users needs to be considered in addition to diversity of QoS requirements of multimedia traffic. In this paper, we propose an Efficient Channel Allocation strategy, based on prioritization of handoff calls used in Guard channel method. Gurad channels can be shared between non real time calls and real time handoff calls. To decrease the probability of handoff failure, when resources become scarce, the Call Admission Control can take some resources away from the active calls. It is shown through extensive simulations that the proposed strategy provides higher channel utilization and lower probability of handoff failure than existing strategies.

It is important to analyze the status of water quality with relation to the stream flow to attain water quality goal more effectively in the unit watersheds for the management of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs). This study developed a flow duration-water quality distribution graph to figure out water quality appearances on the flow variation and analyzed contributions of water quality observations to the impaired water bodies quantitatively by hydrologic conditions. Factors relating to water quality variation can be analyzed more precisely and assessed on the base of quantified contributions. It is considered that this approach could be utilized to establish a more effective plan for the water quality improvement including the prioritization of pollution reduction options.

Quality function deployment (QFD) provides a specific approach for ensuring quality throughout each stage of the product development and production process. Since the focus of QFD is placed on the early stage of product development, the uncertainty in the input information of QFD is inevitable. If the uncertainty is neglected, the QFD analysis results are likely to be misleading. It is necessary to equip practitioners with a new QFD methodology that can model, analyze, and dampen the effects of the uncertainty and variability in a systematic manner. Robust QFD is an extended version of QFD methodology, which is robust to the uncertainty of the input information and the resulting variability of the QFD output. This paper discusses recent research issues in Robust QFD. The major issues are related with the determination of overall priority, robustness evaluation, robust prioritization, and web-based Robust QFD optimizer. Our recent research results on the issues are presented, and some of future research topics are suggested.

Normative theory suggests that control systems should be designed to complement management's objectives and strategies. However, few empirical studies have focused on how control systems have been modified to complement new manufacturing techniques, such as zero-defect strategy. The major purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the attributes of quality strategy and control system on performance. The previous studies have subdivided quality strategy into the ECL(economic conformance level) and ZD(zero-defect) strategy. To accomplish the purpose, this study empirically analysed the data based on the questionnaires from manufacturing department personnel of 67 Korean companies. The major results are as follows. The companies that had implemented the ZD strategy and its control system outperformed the companies that had implemented ECL strategy. Also, the ZD strategy differs from ECL strategy in control system, the criteria of performance evaluation and feedback frequence variable. There is no difference in quality performance monitoring and communication variable. From this results, although many companies have strived for continuous improvement of quality, it was restricted in improvement activities that dont's required much investment cost, quality performance monitoring and communication.

소프트웨어 시스템 개발에 있어 요구사항 분석 단계는 개발 프로세스의 최 상위 단계로 프로젝트의 성공과 실패를 결정하는 중요한 단계이다. 특히, 반복 점증적 개발 프로세스를 적용하는 경우에 있어 고객 요구사항을 우선순위화하여 제한된 일정과 자원을 활용하여 제품을 개발하는 방법론이 필요하다. 기존 방법과 달리 본 논문에서는 SW QFD를 활용하여 고객관점 우선순위에 개발 관점을 추가하고 하위 수준 (Low Level) 요구사항까지 우선순위화 하는 Enhanced SW QFD 방법론을 제안한다. 고 품질의 소프트웨어 제품 개발을 위해 고객 요구사항을 명확하게 이해하고 고객과 개발자 양방향 관점 우선순위 프로세스를 제시한다.

During the last ten years, the need has been increased for reducing maintenance cost for aged equipments and ensuring safety, efficiency and profitability of petrochemical and refinery plants. RBI (Risk Based Inspection) methodology is one of the most promising technologies satisfying the need in the field of integrity management. In this study, a user-friendly software, realRBI for RBI based on the API 581 code was developed and a quantitative analysis was performed for over 500 equipments in a domestic plant whose operating time reaches about 13 years. Current risks for each equipment parts were evaluated and risk based prioritization were determined as a conclusion.

A fuzzy dispatching algorithm with adaptable control scheme is proposed for more flexible and adaptable operation of AGV system. The basic idea of the algorithm is prioritization of all move requests based on the fuzzy urgency. The fuzzy urgency is measured by the fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making method, utilizing the relevant information such as incoming and outgoing buffer status, elapsed time of move request, and AGV traveling distance. At every dispatching decision point, the algorithm prioritizes all move requests based on the fuzzy urgency. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with several dispatching algorithms in terms of system throughput in a hypothetical job shop environment. Simulation experiments are carried out varying the level of criticality ratio of AGVs , the numbers of AGVs, and the buffer capacities. The rule presented in this study appears to be more effective for dispatching AGVs than the other rules.

Water quality management should be focused on the pollution concentrated area so that the improvement of water quality can be achieved effectively for the management of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs). It is necessary to consider discharge characteristics in the TMDL plan. This study analysed discharge characteristics such as pollution generation and discharge load density, and reduction potential by each unit watershed, and categorized the unit watershed into four groups according to its discharge load characteristics. This analysis can be used as helpful information for the prioritization of pollution reduction area and selection of pollution reduction measures in the development of TMDL plans.
