  • Using the 1987-2008 quarterly aggregated data of the Household Income and Expenditure Survey, this study investigated the factors influencing household saving rate. The independent variables in the AR regression model were the GDP growth rate, shares of the total household expenditure allocated to tax & social insurance, and education, the variables reflecting the conditions of the asset market including interest rate, stock market index, and real estate price index, and the variables representing the social economic conditions including the index of aging and income inequality. Among the independent variables interest rate, stock market index, and income inequality were found to be significantly associated with the household saving rate. These results suggested that the redistribution and financial market policies favorable to savers may be effective for raising the household saving rate.

  • Mobile TV refers to the service that provides live broadcasting and video-on-demand content through a mobile device. In addition to the advertisement as the early-stage revenue model, the paid subscription model has emerged as a more sustainable revenue source for mobile TV services. In this study, with the surveys of 450 free mobile TV users, we examine the motivational factors influencing their intention to adopt a paid subscription model. Results show that three extrinsic motivations, price fairness, subjective norm, and mobile TV utilization, are positively associated with free users' paid subscription intention. In contrast, intrinsic motivations, such as hedonic need, spatiotemporal convenience, and self-efficacy, have no significant influence on the intention. We also found that the expected value is positively associated with attitude toward mobile TV service, also positively influencing the paid subscription intention.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of quality of management discussion and analysis (MD&A) disclosure on stock price crash risk. The MD&A can be seen to reflect the management's intention on public announcement and reveals directly what the management says to communicate with outside investors. A firm's high-quality MD&A implies the management's commitment to communicating with the market, not allowing the managers to have incentives to hoard unfavorable news, which if revealed to the public, may lead to downward stock price corrections, damaging corporate values. The high-quality MD&A is, thus, likely to reduce the stock price crash risk. We use a logistic regression to test whether MD&A influences crash risk using listed companies in the Korean Stock Exchange (KSE) stock market between 2010 and 2013. Findings of the empirical test show that the higher the quality of MD&A, the less likely crash risk appears, implying that the MD&A disclosed adequately can be one of the factors mitigating firm's stock price crash risk. This study has implications as it presents the MD&A disclosure as a factor influencing stock price crash risk and suggests voluntary disclosure as well as mandatory disclosure acts as a variable that explains the risk of stock price crash.

  • This research investigates the factors influencing price sensitivity in fashion products. This study incorporates three essential variables, which were likely to influence price sensitivity: the subjective shopping value of consumers, objective purpose of use, and social situation according to the shopping companions of consumers. A sample of young adult consumers (who had purchase experience of fashion products during the last six-months) was surveyed using a self-administered questionnaire. A 3-way ANOVA was used to evaluate the data. The results show that the utilitarian shopping value of consumers was more sensitive in price than the hedonic shopping value and a self-using purchase was more sensitive in price than a gift-giving purchase. In addition, a correlation effect was significant between the purpose of use and social situation. In addition, the correlation effect among all of the three variables was also significant.

  • There are recently several studies of online auctions which have focused on exploring a bidder's bidding behavior in IS area. Those studies, however, have been limited to account for bidders' bidding behavior in the view of TAM and trust, not considering perceived price fairness and competition intensity. Although this view point seems reasonable in the online auction sites, few previous studies employing this perspective are found in the relevant literatures. Based on it, this study developed a comprehensive model based on trust and TAM in terms of perceived price fairness to explain competition intensity in the online auction sites. This study collected 269 survey responses from online bidders who have prior experiences with online auction sites. The survey data are used to empirically verify 11 research hypothesis by using LISREL. The results indicate that trust in websites, trust in sellers and perceived usefulness have significant impacts on perceived price fairness. Finally, perceived price fairness is strongly related to competition intensity in the online auction. This study ends with theoretical and managerial implications, as well as limitations and future research.

In addition, based on consumer demographics, it compared the differences of purchase deferrals with respect to clothing items, prices, and types of shopping malls. For an empirical study, 405 questionnaires were answered by respondents in their 20s and 30s with internet clothing purchase deferral experience. Data were analyzed using: SPSS for Windows 12.0 and descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, factor analysis, $X^2$-test, and regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, the order of items with many purchase deferrals in internet clothing shopping were casual T-shirt>casual skirts>pants, one-piece>suits>sportswear>blouse/shirts and 58.3% of purchase deferrals happened when the price was below \50,000. Second, the significant differences in products, prices, and shopping malls for purchase deferrals were identified according to consumer demographics. There were significant differences in clothing items according to gender, age, marriage, and education; however, there were significant differences only according to gender in terms of price. There were significant differences according to gender, age, marriage, education, and income in terms of the used shopping malls. Third, for the analysis of the influence of diverse factors that can affect purchase deferrals for internet clothing shopping, the more information search, purchase deferral habits, perceived risks, and deficiency in shopping mall supply conditions were when higher purchase deferrals occurred. For a strong competitive online market, this study can help internet clothing shopping mall entrepreneurs manage products and customers by analyzing the lists of purchase deferrals indicated in "cart" and by administrating the influential factors for purchase deferral.

  • In this study, certain factors influencing cherry tomato were estimated using system equations. In addition, the amount of influence to income from each factor was estimated from both direct and indirect effects. Based on OLS(Ordinary Least Squares) estimation, path analysis and factor analysis were employed to overcome multicollinearity problems. Data used in this study is interviewed cross sectional data of 65 cherry tomato producing farm in Chungnam-do area. Average age of the producers is 46.5. Average year of the production is 8 years. Average farm size, productivity, and income are 1,123 pyong, 7,439kg/10a, 8,112,000won/10a, respectively. The business performance of the sample farms were above average, in terms of the diagnosis by "Standard Business Diagnosis for Cherry tomato". To identify the factors influencing productivity, 15, 19, and 25 independent variables were selected for the dependent variables of yield, price(quality), and business cost, respectively. Finally, yield, quality, and business cost variables were set as independent variables to explain income as dependent variable. As a result of main factor analysis, 10, 12, 15, and 16 factors were identified as main factors for yield, quality, business cost, and income, respectively.
