Application of the program to nurses working in public medical institutions was assessed to identify the effects of the program in terms of communication skill, self-efficacy, critical thinking disposition, and problem solving ability of nurses, before and after completion of the education. Method: A total of 32 nurses, working in hospitals designated as public medical institutions, were selected as subject participants in the present study. Data were collected during the period August 19 to 20, 2019, and analyzed by SPSS 23.0. Results: Results obtained from the present study reveals significant efficacy of the educational program, in respect of improved communication skill, self-efficacy, and problem-solving ability. On completion of the educational program, we observed an increase in the critical thinking disposition of nurses, although it was statistically insignificant. Conclusions: We believe that the educational program developed in the present study can be exploited as a foundation for developing other programs intending to improve the communication skill of nurses employed in clinics of public medical institutions, targeted to prevent occurrence of safety accidents of patients.

First, we analyzed the existing training programs concerning game addiction and searched for various strategies applicable to game addiction prevention and treatment education programs. On this ground, training programs were divided into three courses that were the prevention program for normal students, the treatment program I for students in the potential-risk group, and the treatment program II for those in the high-risk group. For the prevention program, commonalities were drawn and developed from the existing studies and training programs; and for treatment programs, game addiction clinic centers were analyzed to draw various useful strategies and contents. We also developed the details of those programs in consultation with experts. As a result of content validity about the developed teacher training program to prevent and treat of game addiction, this program was generally appropriate and acceptable. We expect that the developed programs help to treat a student who has game addiction effectively.

  • Purpose: The objective of this study was a virtual reality-based balance training program effective for improvement in physical function, examined the balance ability and fall efficacy of elderly women with experienced falls, intending to examine the program's usefulness as an exercise program to prevent the recurrence of a fall. Methods: The participants were 30 elderly women aged 65 or older who met the conditions. The participants were randomly assigned to either a balance training group (BT) or a virtual reality-based balance training group (VT) and received the training three times per week, 30 minutes per day, for six weeks. To measure static balance, the Tetrax Portable Multiple System (Tetrax Ltd, Israel) were used. To measure dynamic balance, the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and functional reach test (FRT) was used, and regarding fall efficacy, the Korean Fall Efficacy Scale (K-FES) was used. Results: Tetrax significantly improved after the intervention in both the BT group and the VT group (p<0.05). The comparison between the two groups was not significantly. BBS and FRT result significantly improved after the intervention in both the BT and VT groups (p<0.001), while K-FES was significantly ameliorated in the VT group only (p<.05). Comparing the groups, there were more significant changes in the BBS (p<0.05) and FRT (p<0.01) result of the VT group than the BT group. Conclusion: A virtual reality-based balance training program is considered to be usable as an exercise program to prevent recurrence of falls in elderly women.

  • Background and Purpose: Indigenous people who leave their hometowns and move to the city to earn a living became urban aboriginals. During the process of adapting to urban living situations, they may use various coping strategies such as smoking to overcome their stress. Therefore, it is crucial to provide health education including smoking prevention, increasing knowledge regarding of tobacco hazard, self-efficacy of anti-smoking, and adjusting smoking behavior so as to empower their anti-smoking motivation to prevent lung cancer. The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of an anti-smoking program on urban aboriginals in Taiwan. Methods: A quasi-experimental study design with purposeful sampling was employed. A total of 125 aboriginal subjects were recruited from two local churches at Shu Lin area in northern Taiwan. Subjects were divided into an experimental group (n =64 ) and a control group (n = 61). Both took pre-tests in order to set baseline values, and only the experimental group participated for 3-weeks in the anti-smoking program classes. Both groups took post-tests immediately after the intervention in order to evaluate the immediate effects of the teaching program, and a follow-up test was conducted four weeks after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANCOVA, and repeat measure ANCOVA. Results: After controlling for confounding variables, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the self-efficacy of anti-smoking and smoking behavior between experimental and control groups in the immediately post-test and the follow-up test (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant differences in the recognition of hazards of smoking at eiter time point. Conclusions and Implications for Practice: The findings of this study revealed that the anti-smoking program effectively improved self-efficacy of anti-smoking, and decreased the smoking behavior in urban aboriginals. They provide useful information as a reference regarding of aboriginal health promotion to health providers. It is imperative that anti-smoking be reinforced for those regular smokers to prevent induction of lung cancer.

  • Family Life Education(FLE) is an educational specialty which was originated in reaction to changing social conditions, industrialization, and urbanization It deals with the perceived inadequacies of families to cope with these changes, thereby reducing social problems involved with and improving family life. With an assumption that the studies about FLE have not been so active in Korea, the present thesis examines the FLE in Korea; i.e. the definition, the objectives, the scope, the approximation of family life education, and the necessity of marital education in Korea based upon the published theories of FLE in th United Stated of America. Also it attempts to formulate a tentative plan for the promotion of a FLE program in Korea. The concept of FLE in Korea was manifested in the social educational law and life-span education, specified as the 4th among ten presidential regulations; and it has drawn an institutional, governmental attention It is defined as " the life-span developmental education to enhance the quality of human life, to solve family problem, to develop an individual's potentiality, and to strengthen the family correlations." of the FLE programs, the marital education is considered one of the crucial subjects because it is the core of the family life. With this premise, FLE tries to support the healthy marital relations, , subsequently helping to explore the family potentiality and to strengthen family ties, Considering the seemingly dual characteristics of the Korean family types, the contents of marital education program should be consisted of the following; marital communication, role cooperation, and effective expressions of mutual affection, In addition, reciprocal understanding and cooperation of the married couples to overcome the differences of value, personality, hobby, and religion, the educational methods in raising kids, and the effective management of home economics should be included. The objects of the FLE program are unmarried, pre-married, and married persons. Fro the married persons, the FLE program should be arranged in accordance with their marital status divided by the family life cycle so that they may prevent possible family problems at each stage of the family life. Also, to prevent the problems incurred in the curse of carrying out family functions, the FLE program should be provided with on the basis of a family unit, thereby improving the quality of the family functions.
