  • A computer program for the analysis of engine lubrication systems has been developed. And a case study of a four cylinders gasoline engine is illustrated. This paper gives the mathematical models for oil flow through hydraulic tappet as well as the ones of oil jet and plain journal bearings. And the new from an oil pump and the flow resistance through an oil filter is considered at various temperatures. In the analysis, the various design guidelines are applied. The distribution of flow and pressure of an engine lubrication system are calculated, and the pressure data compared with the experimental data at a few points in the engine lubrication system. This method is helpful to design of engine lubrication system efficiently.

  • Since a butt Joint is smaller than a lap type joint, it is expected to have smaller AC losses. The butt joint is produced by the diffusion bonding of the contacting surface under pressured and heated condition. It is important to find robust joining conditions, because butt joint has small contact area and has the shape by which the quality of bonding is hard to be checked. In this research, the loading pressure is considered as the joining parameter to find optimum joining condition. The DC resistance of the joint may be changed by the surface pressure during joining process, because the superconducting strands near the contact surface are failed by large plastic deformation. The range from 10 MPa to 18 MPa is expected optimum surface pressure in the conditions of 1 hour heating time and $750^{\circ}C$ temperature in the vacuum furnace.

  • Typical size distribution of emission particulates is bi-modal in shape with particles in the fine mode (< 2.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$) and the coarse mode. An experimental study of pressure drop across the industrial gas cleaning filters has been conducted using particle mixture of fine alumina and coarse Arizona dusts with a rotating aerosol disperser to generate the bi-modal test aerosol. Pressure drop increased linearly with increasing mass loading. The pressure drop was found to be strongly dependent upon the mass ratio of fine to coarse particles. The smaller the mass ratio of fine to coarse particles and the higher face velocity are, the faster pressure drop rises. The fine particles and the greater inertia of the particle moving fast would cause a denser cake formation on the filter surface, resulting in a greater specific resistance to the gas flow.

  • The inundation of substation and ground power equipment breaks out every summer season in low-lying downtown and low-lying shore by localized heavy rain, typhoon and tidal wave. For diminishing flood damage of electrical equipment in the root, flood protection system which is used the basic frame of Pad transformer is developed using pneumatic pressure. This system is established on pressure generator equipment and sensor of flooded level operates at flooding occurrence and is maintained a shutting tightly structure. The system is able to protect indraft water in Pad Transformer and supply the electricity at emergency(flooding). And we tested safety for insulation resistance at flooding and applying an electrical current. We estimate that loss cost which is caused by with flooding and the power failure will be diminished if it is addition to advances the reliability evaluation by setting an example.

  • In this study, field test on utilization of recycled aggregates and crushed stone as horizontal drains to use an alternative material of sand in soft ground is practiced. The settlement with time showed similarly ranged from 28.4-30.3 cm in the all horizontal materials. The excess pore water pressure of the recycled aggregates and crushed stone showed smaller than sand. The small the excess pore water pressure becomes faster the consolidation period and it can reduces the amount of residual settlement. Therefore, it was verified as having enough to an alternative materials that the field applicability is excellent. The distribution of earth pressure with time showed similarly in the all horizontal materials. The recycled aggregates and crushed stone was very applicable to practice because there is no mat resistance in the horizontal drains layer. The penetration rate in the SCP and PVD improvement sections did not show large differences as the grain size and the horizontal drainage height increases.

  • This paper describes fabrication and characteristics of metal thin-film pressure sensor for working at high temperature. The proposed pressure sensor consists of a chrom thin-film, patterned on a Wheatstone bridge configuration, sputter-deposited onto thermally oxidized Si membranes with an aluminium interconnection layer. The fabricated pressure sensor presents a low temperature coefficient of resistance, high-sensitivity, low non-linearity and excellent temperature stability. The sensitivity is 1.097 $\sim$ 1.21 mV/V kgf/$cm^2$ in the temperature range of 25 $\sim$ $200^{\circ}C$ and the maximum non-linearity is 0.43 %FS.

  • Cr-Mo low alloy steels have been used for a long time for pressure vessel due to its excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature strength and toughness. The paper reviewed the latest trends on material development and some problems on Cr-Mo low alloy steel for pressure vessel, such as elevated temperature strength, hardenability, synergetic effect between temper and hydrogen embrittlement, hydrogen attack and hydrogen induced disbonding of overlay weld-cladding.

  • The flow characteristics of ice slurry which was made from $6.5{\%}$ ethylene glycol-water solution flowing in the special pipings including the enlargement, the contraction and the orifice were experimentally investigated. The flow patterns and the pressure drops were measured in acrylic pipes when the fraction of ice were varied from $0\;to\;30{\%}$. The pressure drop behavior of the contraction and the orifice appears to be similar to that of the elbow pipe, since these piping may provide similar frictional resistance to the elbow. In the mean while, the pressure drop increased unexpectedly high with the Ice fraction in the enlargement pipe. It seems that the onset of sharp increase in the pressure drop depends on the flowing time as well as the ice fraction and the flow rate.

  • The paper presents theoretical and experimental investigations on three varying thickness circular cylinders, which were tested to destruction under external hydrostatic pressure. The five buckling theories that were presented were based on inelastic shell instability. Three of these inelastic buckling theories adopted the finite element method and the other two theories were based on a modified version of the much simpler von Mises theory. Comparison between experiment and theory showed that one of the inelastic buckling theories that was based on the von Mises buckling pressure gave very good results while the two finite element solutions, obtained by dividing the theoretical elastic instability pressures by experimentally determined plastic knockdown factors gave poor results. The third finite element solution which was based on material and geometrical non-linearity gave excellent results. Electrical resistance strain gauges were used to monitor the collapse mechanisms and these revealed that collapse occurred in the regions of the highest values of hoop stress, where considerable deformation took place.
