The spray characteristics of jet in crossflow (JICF) to improve the atomization and mixing characteristics of liquid Jet, while minimizing the impact on crossflow, were studied experimentally. By varying the temperature, velocity, pressure of crossflow and the speed, pressure of liquid Jet, the spray boundary (outer boundary, inner boundary) with the change of crossflow and liquid jet momentum ratio (q) were measured and led the experimental formula, compared with the results of previous work. Specifically, when the jet penetration with the shape of injector were measured, in the case of dual orifice Injector, under the influence of front orifice, the jet penetration of back orifice was improved approximately 18% ($L_h$ = 4 mm), compared with single orifice injector.

Computational results from Navier-Stokes equations are presented for the Stokes-wave/flat-plate boundary-layer and wake for small wave steepness(Ak=0.01), including exact and approximate treatments of the viscous free-surface boundary conditions. The macro-scale flow indicate that the variations of the external-flow pressure gradients cause acceleration or deceleration of the streamwise velocity component and alternating direction of the cross flow. Remarkably, the wake displays a greater response, i.e., a bias with regard to favorable as compared to adverse pressure gradients. The micro-scale flow indicates that the free-surface boundary conditions have a profound influence over the boundary layer and near/intermediate wake. Order-of-magnitude estimates are conformed to the computational results. And appreciable errors are introduced through approximations to the free-surface boundary conditions.
As a par of a project related to the development of the design algorithm of a compact heat exchanger for the application of the electronic home appliances, the effect of the discreteness of the airflow boundary generated on the cooling fin surface on the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of the heat exchanger was studied numerically. In general, there are two critical design parameters seriously considered in the design of the heat exchanger; heat transfer rate(Q) and pressure drop coefficient(C/sub p/). Even though the higher heat transfer rate with lower pressure drop characteristics is required in a design of the heat exchanger, it is not an easy job to satisfy both conditions at the same time because these two parameters are phenomenally inversely proportional. To control the boundary layer thickness and its length along the streamline, the surface of the flat fin was modified to accelerate the heat transfer rate on the fin surface. To understand the effect of the discreted fin size(S/sub w/) and its location(S/sub h/) on the performance of the heat exchanger in the airflow field, the flat fin was modified as shown in Fig. 1. From this study, it was found that the smaller and more number of slits on the fin surface showed the higher energy diffusion rate. It means that the discreteness of the boundary layer is quite important on the heat transfer rate of the heat exchanger. On the other hand, if the fin surface configuration is very complex than needed, higher static pressure drop occurs than required in a system and it may be a reason of the induced aerodynamic noise in the heat exchanger.

In this paper, used by the boundary layer wind tunnel test, have conducted a series of wind tunnel experiments, i.e. test the mean velocity profile regarding the surface roughness, turbulence intensity and power spectrum measured by augmentation device. After that, to provide data relevant for the preliminary design step of tall building hazard fluctuating wind loads may be obtained fluctuating pressure coefficients, fluctuating pressure spectrum, autocorrelation coefficients by the boundary layer wind tunnel test. From the results of experiments, this study can be obtained conclusions as follows. 1. We know the fact that the mean velocity profile and the turbulence intensity are well fitted natural wind flow in the boundary layer wind tunnel. 2. The satisfactory agreement of velocity spectrum can be obtained from the compare of fluctuating power spectrum and Von Karman spectrum. 3. We know the fact that the fluctuating pressure spectrums distributed peak at 0.01 Hz-0.1 Hz in the windward surfaces and at 0.1 Hz in the leeward surfaces. 4. We know the fact that the autocorrelation coefficients distributed stationary random processes with application time of hazard fluctuating wind loads.
Tornado-induced damages to high-rise buildings and low-rise buildings are quite different in nature. Tornado losses to high-rise buildings are generally associated with building envelope failures while tornado-induced damages to low-rise buildings are usually associated with structural or large component failures such as complete collapses, or roofs being torn off. While studies of tornado-induced structural damages tend to focus mainly on low-rise residential buildings, transmission towers, or nuclear power plants, the current rapid expansion of city centers and development of large-scale building complexes increases the risk of tornadoes impacting tall buildings. It is, therefore, important to determine how tornado-induced load affects tall buildings compared with those based on synoptic boundary layer winds. The present study applies an experimentally simulated tornado wind field to the Commonwealth Advisory Aeronautical Research Council (CAARC) building and estimates and compares its pressure coefficient effects against the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) flow field. Simulations are performed at the Wind Engineering, Energy and Environment (WindEEE) Dome which is capable of generating both ABL and tornadic winds. A model of the CAARC building at a scale of 1:200 for both ABL and tornado flows was built and equipped with pressure taps. Mean and peak surface pressures for TLV flow are reported and compared with the ABL induced wind for different time-averaging. By following a compatible definition of the pressure coefficients for TLV and ABL fields, the resulting TLV pressure field presents a similar trend to the ABL case. Also, the results show that, for the high-rise building model, the mean and 3-sec peak pressures are larger for the ABL case compared to the TLV case. These results provide a way forward for the code implementation of tornado-induced pressures on high-rise buildings.

Design for a quiet operation of fluid power system requires the understanding of noise and vibration characteristics of the system. It's not easy to analyze noise problem in hydraulic cylinder used in typical actuator Because they've got complex fluid dynamics. One of the fundamental problems associated with the hydraulic system is the pulsating flow in pipe lines, which can be tackled by the analysis under simplifying assumptions. The present study focuses on theoretic analysis and experimental study on the dynamics of laminar pulsating flow in a circular pipe. We analyze the propagation characteristics of the pressure pulse within a hydraulic pipe line taking into account the pulsating flow frequency variation. We also measure instantaneous pressure pulses within pipe line to identify the transfer functions. We conduct series of experiments to investigate the propagation characteristics of pressure pulse for various pressure of pulsating flow. The working fluid of the present study is ISO VG46 and the temperature ranges from 20 to $60^{\circ}$ with normal pressure at 4000kPa. The flow rate is measured by using an ultrasonic flow meter. Pressures at fixed upstream and downstream positions are measured concurrently. The electric signals of the pressure sensor are stored and analyzed using a system analyzer(PKE 983 series). The frequency is varied in the range of 10~500Hz. The Reynolds number is kept below 2,000. In the present study, boundary condition was varied by installing a surge tank and an orifice at the end of pipe. Experimental and theoretical results were compared each other under various boundary conditions.

We investigate the flow characteristics around a series of rectangular bodies ($40^d{\times}80^w{\times}80^h$, $80^d{\times}80^w{\times}80^h$ and $160^d{\times}80^w{\times}80^h$) placed in a deep turbulent boundary layer. The study is aiming to understand the surface pressure distribution around the bodies such as the suction pressure in the leading edge, when the flow is normal, which is responsible for producing extreme suction pressures on the roof. The experiment includes wind tunnel work by using HWA (Hot-Wire anemometry) and pressure transducers. The experiments are carried out at three different Reynolds numbers, based on the velocity U at the body height h, of $2.4{\times}10^4$, $4.6{\times}10^4$ and $6.7{\times}10^4$, and large enough that the mean flow is effectively Reynolds number independent. The results include the measurements of the growth of the turbulent boundary layer in the wind tunnel and the surface pressure around the bodies.
Multimode boundary-layer transition on a NACA0012 airfoil is experimentally investigated under periodically passing wakes and the moderate level of free-stream turbulence. The periodic wakes are generated by rotating circular cylinders clockwise or counterclockwise around the airfoil. The free-stream turbulence is produced by a grid upstream of the rotating cylinder, and its intensity(Tu) at the leading edge of the airfoil is $0.5\;or\;3.5\;{\%}$. The Reynolds number ($Re_c$) based on chord length (C) of the alrfoil is $2.0{\times}10^5$, and Strouhal number ($St_c$) of the passing wake is about 0.7. Time- and phase-averaged streamwise mean velocities and turbulence fluctuations are measured with a single hot-wire probe, and especially, the corresponding wall skin friction is evaluated using a computational Preston tube method. The wake-passing orientation changes pressure distribution on the airfoil in a different manner irrespective of the free-stream turbulence. Regardless of free-stream turbulence level, turbulent patches for the receding wakes propagate more rapidly than those for the approaching wake because adverse pressure gradient becomes larger. The patch under the high free-stream turbulence ($Tu=3.5{\%}$) grows more greatly in laminar-like regions compared with that under the low background turbulence ($Tu=0.5{\%}$) in laminar regions. The former, however, does not greatly change the original turbulence level in the very near-wall region while the latter does it. At further downstream, the former interacts vigorously with high environmental turbulence inside the pre-existing transitional boundary layer and gradually lose his identification, whereas the latter keep growing in the laminar boundary layer. The calmed region is more clearly observed under the lower free-stream turbulence level and for the receding wakes. The calmed region delays the breakdown further downstream and stabilizes more the boundary layer.
In this study, the pressure distributions on the oil film of piston pin bearings are found by two-dimensional lubrication analysis in order to help the optimum design of the bearings of piston pin. The lubrication analysis is carried out together with an equation related with the oil pressure-viscosity index. The oil film pressure distribution is used as an input data for pressure boundary conditions at the piston pin-boss surface. Finally, the piston pin-boss stress distribution coupled with the thermal stress is calculated, and then compared with the results of the stress analysis which is not counted with the oil film pressure boundary condition.
Under the critical assumption that ▽u$\in$L(sub)loc(sup)${\alpha}$,${\beta}$, 3/${\alpha}$ + 2/${\beta}$$\leq$ 2 with ${\alpha}$$\geq$ 3/2, a boundary L(sup)$\infty$ estimate for the solution is derived if the pressure on the boundary is bounded. Here, our estimate is local.
