ESPI와 FEM을 이용한 압력용기 결함 측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Evaluation of Defects of Pressure Vessel by Using ESPI and FEM)

  • Internal defects are mainly caused by a corrosive action and degradation in the pipe used in a nuclear power plant or factory. The ESPI method have the many advantages when compared with conventional method. The advantage are the area measurement ability at one time and non-contact measurement ability in the real-time. In this paper, we studied on the measurement of a internal defect by using out of plane ESPI technique. Here, we compared the experimental results using out of plane ESPI with the FEM results.

초고압 시스템의 안전성 확보에 대한 연구 (A Study of Safety Acquirement for an Assessment of Ultra High Pressure System)

  • Ultra high pressure system, which can be generally increased over 1,000bar, needs to have sealing mechanism to protect leakage and selection of the materials used in the intensifier. Components such as pressure vessel, hydraulic hose assembly, accumulator, hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic valve, pipe, etc., are tested under the impulse-pressure conditions. Components need to be tested under 1.5 to 3 times of rated pressure to check the tolerance even though rated pressure range of these components are not ultra high pressure. So, the ultra high pressure system needs to be equiped to test components. In this study, safety assessments of ultra high pressure system which are using failure analysis of components, changing the types of the control system, and finite element analysis with static condition, are investigated.

  • The refractory-lined pipe is used to protect the system from high-temperature of the internal flow. The property of the refractory has an effect upon the stress analysis for fluid catalytic cracking(FCC) unit piping design. The equivalent elastic modulus and density considering steel and refractory must be applied in the stress analysis of the system. In the research, the theoretical method to obtain the value of the equivalent property is introduced and then the parametric analysis is carried out to understand the characteristic of the material properties, and the stress analysis is performed with reactor, the part of FCC unit.

에어챔버가 설치된 송수관로에서의 수격현상 (Waterhammer in the Transmission Pipeline with an Air Chamber)

  • The field tests on the waterhammer were carried out in the pump pipeline system with an air chamber. The effects of the input variables and the design parameters for the air chamber were investigated by both the numerical calculations and the experiments. Because the waterhammer problems as a result of the pump power failure were the most important, these situations were carefully studied. Among the input variables used in the waterhammer analysis, the polytropic exponent, the discharge coefficient and the wavespeed had influence on the simulated results in that order, and were calibrated in comparison with the experimental results. As the initial air volume in a vessel increased, the period of waterhammer increased and the pressure variation decreased, resulting from the reduction of the rate of pressure change in the air chamber. Using smaller orifice in the bypass pipe, the pressure rise was suppressed in some degree and the pressure surge was dissipated more rapidly as time passed. The simulations were in fairly good agreement with the measured values until 1∼2 periods of waterhammer. Not only the maximum and minimum pressures in the pipe1ine but also those occurring times were reasonably predicted. The computer program developed in this study will be useful in designing the optimum parameters of an air chamber for the real pump pipeline system.

농도 불균일 LPG-공기 혼합기체의 폭발특성 (Explosion Characteristics of Nonhomogeneous LPG-Air Mixtures)

  • The explosion characteristics of nonhomogeneous LPG-Air mixtures was measured in a cylindrical vessel and a pipe. The maximum explosion pressure, the maximum rate of explosion pressure rise, and the flame propagation velocity were measured and compared with that of homogeneous explosion by changing the effective factors on the explosion of nonhomogeneous mixtures such as pressure difference, effusion time and delay time. Explosion was occured even in the lower concentration than the lean flammability limit of mixture. The maximum explosion pressure was increased with increase of LPG concentration, however, the maximum explosion pressure rise was not in the nonhomogeneous explosion. An d the flame propagation velocity was decreased with nonhomogeneity, however, the maximum explosion pressure was always above 0.7kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

고압배관용 탄소강의 인장시 음향방출 특성 (AE Characteristic under Tensile of Carbon Steel for High-Pressure Pipe)

  • 에너지 관련 플랜트에 사용되는 배관은 플랜트의 성능이나 안전성유지에 있어서 중요한 설비의 일부이다. 본 연구에서는 고압탄소강 배관의 변형 및 파괴에 대한 음향방출 기초 자료를 얻기 위하여 압력용기용 배관재를 기계가공하여 인장시험편을 만든 후, 인장시험을 실시하여 항복, 소성변형 및 파괴에 이르기까지의 음향방출 신호를 분석하였다. 탄성영역, 최대인장강도 이전의 소성영역 및 최대인장강도 이후의 소성영역에서 검출된 음향방출의 시간-주파수 분석 결과는 탄성영역에서 항복영역까지는 비교적 낮은 저주파수 대역(250${\~}$350kHz)이 나타났으며, 소성영역에서는 저주파수뿐만 아니라 고주파수 대역(500kHz)도 나타났다. 인장시험 후, 이러한 각 영역의 구별이 가능하였던 원인은 항복영역에서의 전위의 이동, 집적에 따른 신호와 최대인장강도 이전의 소성영역에서의 전위들이 개재물이나 결정입계를 통과했을 때 나타나는 신호, 최대인장강도 이후에는 미소공동의 발생, 성장 및 합체에 의하여 나타나는 신호로 분류가 가능하였기 때문인 것으로 판단된다.

Stress Index Development for Piping with Trunnion Attachment Under Pressure and Moment Loadings

  • A finite element analysis of a trunnion pipe anchor is presented. The structure is analyzed for the case of internal pressure and moment loadings. The stress results are categorized into the average (membrane) stress, the linearly varying (bending) stress and the peak stress through the thickness. The resulting stresses are interpreted per Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code from which the Primary(B$_1$), Secondary(C$_1$) and Peak(K$_1$) stress indices for pressure, the Primary (B$_2$), Secondary(C$_2$) and Peak(K$_2$) stress indices for moment are developed. Based on the comparison between stress value by stress indices derived in this paper and stress value represented by the ASME Code Case N-391-1, the empirical equations for stress indices are effectively used in the piping stress analysis. Therefore, the use of empirical equations can simplify the procedure of evaluating the local stress in the piping design stage.

외압을 받는 두꺼운 원통형 내압용기의 붕괴하중 해석 (The Analysis of Collapse Load of Thick Pressure Cylinder under External Hydrostatic Pressure)

  • Number of studies on the buckling of thin cylindrical pressure vessels, such as submarine pressure hull and pipe with a large ratio of diameter/thickness, have been carried out in the naval and ocean engineering. However, research about thick cylinder pressure vessel has not been active except for the specific application in nuclear area. There are not many papers for the estimation of buckling and ultimate load capacity of thick cylinders for the deep sea usage. Thus, it is important to understand the theoretical bases of the buckling and collapse process and the derivation process of such loads for the proper design and structural analysis. The objective of this study is to survey the collapse behavior, to analyse and clarify the derivation procedure and to estimate the ultimate collapse load for thick cylinder by analyzing relevant books and papers. It is found that the yielding begins at the internal surface of the thick cylinder and plasticity develops from the internal surface to the external surface to generate collapse. Also the initial imperfection of cylinder develops flattening and consequently accelerates buckling and finally ultimate collapse. By comparing the collapse loads of aluminum thick cylinder by applying equations herein, it is shown that the equations analyzed are appropriate to obtain collapse load for thick cylinder.
