Since 2000, as importance of sourcing energy emphasized caused by instability of international oil price, interests toward Caspian countries as an alternative markets has increased. Especially, Azerbaijan, as middle Asian emerging exporting country, has performed drastic economic boom because of massive amount of foreign capital flowed in and construction of BTC pipeline. However, despite this economic surge, there are unbalanced economy which is merely focusing on energy industry and pressure from increase in real exchange rate and inflation. In order to analyze the sustainability of Azerbaijan economy, the total sample time period of this paper is from January 2001 to December 2007 and the term is divided into before and after BTC line construction. Vector Error-Correction Model has been applied to analysis confirming short-term and long-term effect. As a result, Azerbaijan now face the symptoms of the recession during the time period and this is due to high oil price and increase in export influenced by BTC oil pipeline resulting in decrease in real interest rate. This conclusion is to affect competitiveness of manufacturing industry, base industry for economic proliferation, in a negative way.

Renewable energy from the environment in a variety of ways to obtain various forms of energy. Recent functional polymer composites (EAP) to take advantage of the pressure and vibration of physical energy into electrical energy storage, to take advantage of current collector technology is attracting attention. EAP, a type of IPMC (Ionic exchange Polymer Composite) got a hydrophilic properties, marine power plants is being studied as a source of energy. Studies using IPMC marine power plant because there is a constraint on the time, IPMC in real time, which can measure the power generated by the system is required, Due to the nature of the power plant to be floating in the sea through the power cable and data transmission measurement system is hard drive self-generation and wireless data transmission system is required. In this study, IPMC marine power plant is to develop a system of monitoring. IPMC for several power plants to build individual current-voltage measurement system, CAN communication with the main system to collect all the information and wireless data transmission to occur, and Generation of electricity using solar energy to building systems in real-time without an external power supply to drive the measuring system is to develop a monitoring system.

Background: Alveolar recruitment (RM) is one of the primary goals of respiratory care for an acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The purposes of alveolar recruitment are an improvement in pulmonary gas exchange and the protection of atelectrauma. This study examined the effect and safety of the alveolar RM using pressure control ventilation (PCV) in early ALI and ARDS patients. Methods: Sixteen patients with early ALI and ARDS who underwent alveolar RM using PCV were enrolled in this study. The patients data were recorded at the baseline, and 20 minutes, and 60 minutes after alveolar RM, and on the next day after the maneuver. Alveolar RM was performed with an inspiratory pressure of $30cmH_2O$ and a PEEP of $20cmH_2O$ in a 2-minute PCV mode. The venous $O_2$ saturation, central venous pressure, blood pressure, pulse rate, $PaO_2/FiO_2$ ratio, PEEP, and chest X-ray findings were obtained before and after alveolar RM. Results: Of the 16 patients, 3 had extra-pulmonary ALI/ARDS and the remaining 13 had pulmonary ALI/ARDS. The mean PEEP was 11.3 mmHg, and the mean $PaO_2/FiO_2$ ratio was 130.3 before RM. The $PaO_2/FiO_2$ ratio increased by 45% after alveolar RM. The $PaO_2/FiO_2$ ratio reached a peak 60 minutes after alveolar RM. The Pa$CO_2$ increased by 51.9 mmHg after alveolar RM. The mean blood pressure was not affected by alveolar RM. There were no complications due to pressure injuries such as a pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum, and subcutaneous emphysema. Conclusion: In this study, alveolar RM using PCV improved the level of oxygenation in patients with an acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Moreover, there were no significant complications due to hemodynamic changes and pressure injuries. Therefore, alveolar RM using PCV can be applied easily and safely in clinical practice with lung protective strategy in early ALI and ARDS patients.

Local M-H loops have been measured on the free layer of a tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) junction using the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) system, with an optical beam size of about 2 $\mu$m diameter. Tunnel junctions were deposited using the DC magnetron sputtering method in a chamber with a base pressure of 3$\times$10$^{-9}$ Torr. The relatively irregular variations of coercive force H$_c$(∼17.5 Oe) and unidirectional anisotropy field H$_{ua}$(∼7.5 Oe) in the as-deposited sample are revealed. After $200{^{\circ}C}$ annealing, He decreases to 15 Oe but H$_{ua}$ increases to 20 Oe with smooth local variations. Two-dimensional plots of H$_c$ and H$_{ua}$ show the symmetric saddle shapes with their axes aligned with the pinned layer, irrespective of the annealing field angle. This is thought to be caused by geometric effects during deposition, together with a minor annealing effect. In addition, the variation of root mean square (RMS) surface roughness reveals it to be symmetric with respect to the center of the pinned-layer axis, with the roughness of 2.5 $\AA$ near the edge and 5.8 $\AA$ at the junction center. Comparison of surface roughness with the variation of H$_{ua}$ suggests that the H$_{ua}$ variation of the free layer is well described by dipole interactions related to surface roughness. As a whole, the reversal magnetization is not uniform over the entire junction area and the macroscopic properties are governed by the average sum of local distributions.

Poongjeon talc deposits is emplaced in dolomite and dolomitic limestone of the Cambro-Ordovician Samtaesan Formation. Ore in Poongjeon is low grade talc and the deposit has been known as the contact metasomatic or hydrothermal replacement type related to the intrusion of late Cretaceous granite in this area. X-ray diffraction, electron microprobe analysis, fluid inclusion and stable isotope analysis were utilized to examine the mineralogy of the ore and the origin of the ore fluid. The ore from Poongjeon mine mainly consists of talc and tremolite with minor amount of illite, vermiculite, smectite, and chlorite-vermiculite mixed layer. Occurrence of ore body indicates that the talc-tremolite ore was formed through the replacement by the $SiO_2$-rich hydrothermal fluid along the bedding and dike boundaries, or contact of amphibolite and basic dike with carbonate rocks. The temperature and pressure of the ore forming fluids at the time of the talc mineralization were estimated as $350^{\circ}C$ and 400 bar, respectively, based on the heating and freezing data of the fluid inclusions in quartz from talc-tremolite veins. During the talc-tremolite formation, fluids were divided into $CO_2$-enriched fluid and $CO_2$-poor fluid from $CO_2$ immiscibility (or effervescence). Oxygen isotope values (${\delta}^{18}O$) of the talc-tremolite fall within a range between 12.2 and 12.9‰. Hydrogen isotope values(${\delta}D$) of the ore range from -60 to -85‰ and $H_2O$ contents range from 2.0 to 3.4 wt.%. ${\delta}^{18}O$ and ${\delta}D$ values of talc ore indicate that the hydrothermal fluid involved in talc-tremolite formation was of igneous origin. Oxygen and hydrogen isotopic exchange between talc ore and the surface water was negligible after talc-tremolite ore formation.
Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of crystalline organic-inorganic hybrid compounds formed by coordination of metal clusters or ions with organic linkers. MOFs have recently attracted intense research interest due to their permanent porous structures, large surface areas and pore volume, high-dispersed metal species, and potential applications in gas adsorption, separation, and catalysis. $CO_2$ adsorption in MOFs has been investigated in two areas of $CO_2$ storage at high pressures and $CO_2$ adsorption at atmospheric pressure conditions. In this short review, $CO_2$ adsorption/separation results using MOFs conducted in our laboratory was explained in terms of four contributing effects; (1) coordinatively unsaturated open metal sites, (2) functionalization, (3) interpenetration/catenation, and (4) ion-exchange. Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) were also considered as a candidate material.

The performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) is strongly related to the water flow and accumulation in the gas diffusion layer (GDL) and catalyst layer. Understanding the behavior of fluid from the characteristics of the media is crucial for the improvement of the performance and design of the GDL. In this paper, a numerical method is proposed to calculate the design parameters of the GDL, i.e., permeability, tortuosity, and effective diffusivity. The fluid flow in a channel filled with randomly packed hard spheres is simulated to validate the method. The flow simulation was performed by lattice Boltzmann method with bounce back condition for the solid volume fraction in the porous media, with different values of porosities. Permeability, which affects the flow, was calculated from the average pressure drop and the velocity in the porous media. Tortuosity, calculated by the ratio the average path length of the randomly injected massless particles to the thickness of the porous media, and the resultant effective diffusivity were in good agreement with the theoretical model. The suggested method can be used to calculate the parameters of real GDL accurately without any modification.
The Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) has observed the Earth's mass redistribution mainly caused by the variations of groundwater, ice sheet, and sea level since its launch in April 2002. The global gravity model estimated by the GRACE observation is corrected by barometric pressure, and thus represents the change of Earth mass on the Earth's surface and below Earth's surface excluding air mass. However, the total air mass varies due to the water exchange between the Earth's surface and the atmosphere. As a result, the nominal GRACE gravity model should include the Earth's gravity spectrum associated with the total air mass variations, degree 0 and order 0 coefficients of spherical harmonics ($C_{00}$). Because the water vapor content varies mainly on a seasonal time scale, a change of $C_{00}$ (${\delta}C_{00}$) is particularly important to seasonal variations of sea level, and mass balance between northern and southern hemisphere. This result implies that ${\delta}C_{00}$ coefficients should be accounted for the examination of continental scale mass change possibly associated with the climate variations.

Characteristics of climate in the eastern coastal regions of Korean Peninsula were studied using the meteorological and coastal sea surface temperature (SST) data which were compiled from 1961 to 1990. In the winter half year (from October to March), air temperature (AT) and precipitation of the eastern coastal regions were considerably higher than those of the western and inland regions, but relative humidity was $8{\sim}15\%$ lower. AT of coastal regions was closely related to the variation of coastal SST. These characteristics were more noticeable in the eastern coastal areas and in lower latitude regions. Quantitatively, the $1.0^{\circ}C$ variation of coastal SST may have resulted in the $1.0^{\circ}C{\sim}1.5^{\circ}C$ variation for AT in coastal regions. In the same way as temperature, vapor pressure in coastal regions was also influenced by coastal SST. Relative humidity change corresponding to the $1.0^{\circ}C$ variation of coastal SST was $3.7\%{\sim}6.5\%$. Net heat exchange amounts were positive (sea surface gaining energy) in all coastal regions. Sea surface gained net heat from March to September, and lost it from October to February. Variation of AT in coastal regions was also related to the sensible and latent heat exchanges. Sensible and latent heat amount corresponding to the $1.0^{\circ}C$ variation of AT were $10Wm^{-2}$ at Kangnung, and $8Wm^{-2}$ at Pohang and $13Wm^{-2}$ at Pusan.
Recently, there has been an increase in the construction of various types of coastal structures for efficient wave dissipation, seawater exchange, and so on. Among these, a perforated slit caisson has been widely used to reduce the reflected wave energy and the wave pressure on the structure. Therefore, many studies on the wave force on a caisson, as well as the wave reflection from it, have been carried out with laboratory experiments and numerical analyses, considering it as a 2-D problem. However, because a structure like a perforated slit caisson has a variable 3-D shape, waves forces should be considered as a 3-D problem. Therefore, in this paper, a fully-nonlinear 3-D numerical model (LES-WASS-3D) is proposed to examine the reflection characteristics of a perforated slit caisson with two chambers. The numerical model, LES-WASS-3D, was verified in a 3-D wave field by a comparison with existing experimental data for wave reflection coefficients. Then, using the numerical results, the reflection from a perforated slit caisson with two chambers was examined in relation to wave steepness, chamber width, and the shape/porosity of perforated slit.
