The purpose of this study is to analysis the change of composition and terminology of the official public relation(PR) brochures of the Presidential Security Service of Korea. For this purpose, the qualitative study was conducted on the official PR brochures of the Presidential Security Service. The results of this study are as follows. First, the compositions of the official PR brochures of the Presidential Security Service have been gradually changing from the Presidential Security Service to the public. Second, the terminologies of the official PR brochures of the Presidential Security Service have been gradually increasing the using public friendly terms in the middle of the using rigid terms because of the nature of the Presidential Security Service. Therefore, the Presidential Security Service should fulfill the public's rights to know through active PR efforts in the future and concentrate the capabilities in securing the legitimacy of presidential security service while leading the academic development of security service. In addition, it is necessary to consider ways to renew specific concrete grounds for organization, functions, and employees through legal and institutional improvements to secure the professionalism of the Presidential Security Service, and to extend the scope of work to the field of national security management and coordination.

The purpose of this study is to investigate about security service history during the 1st and 2nd Republic. The 3rd Republic, one of the important periods, deserves special emphasis until now. But Compared with 1st and 2nd Republic, the 3rd Republic is inferior. Although security service history excluded the 1st and 2nd Republic. This research focused on the two points about the chief of the presidential security and the law of presidential security special order. Firstly, the chiefs of the presidential security in 1st Republic were Kim, Jang-Heung Seo, Jung-Hak Kim, Kuk-Jin Kwak, Young-Joo. Secondly, The law of presidential security special order be specified in Korean presidential security for the first time. Before the 1st Republic already recognized the importance of security services when they adopted the first security service regulations on December 29, 1949, which comprised 25 articles. But this law was only focused on presidential security and promulgated the law more than 10 years ago than law of the office of the Presidential Security in 1963. Deplorable in this law was declared by statute on July 7, 1953 from the 1st Republic, but repealed in 1960 after the 2nd Republic. Thirdly, 2nd Republic established the presidential security organization with the new government has been formed. In spite of this organization can not be kept for a long time, 2nd Republic attempted to professional forms of presidential security organization. The research of secret service history must continue to advance for academical learning.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the historical progress about Teukgongmusul as bodyguard martial arts focused on security service history through the meaning of its development and expansion. This study used secret materials from presidential security service, military service headquarters and special merit unit in Korea, and also used interview materials by oral history. For the above tasks, the conclusions of this study are as follows: Firstly, consideration about the background and circumstances of Teukgongmusul when it was developed in 1970s. No.606 special merit unit's soldiers who worked in presidential security service in Korea organized Teukgongmusul. Secondly, consideration about the meanings of Teukgongmusul presented through its development and expansion process. Teukgongmusul was bodyguards' martial arts which was based on Army's martial arts in 1970s. For this reason, Teukgongmusul now has the perception as Bodyguard Martial Arts. Thirdly, consideration about the expansion process of Teukgongmusul when it was adopted in Army and presidential security service in Korea. In 1970s special merit unit was included in presidential security service in Korea where Teukgongmusul was developed. Afterward Teukgongmusul was expanded in two different ways which were Army and presidential security service in Korea. In Army Teukgongmusul was expanded by no.5 special merit brigade and was expanded by Hapkido master who was worked as martial arts instructor for presidential security service in Korea. Fourthly, the historical progress of Teukgongmusul as bodyguard martial art was influenced by the political situation.
Quantitative rise and This study carried out qualitative research by utilizing NVivo 10 focusing on the contents of mass media such as newspaper or internet on the presidential security service up to the Park Geun-hye government from the 3rd Republic of Korea, which was established the presidential security service. Last year, the Moon Jae-In administration made an attempt to abolish the presidential security office overseeing the presidential security and to transfer the work to the presidential security service under the National Police Agency. Currently, all of the G7 nations maintain a security system spearheaded by the police, so the policy of transferring the presidential security to the National Police Agency may be discussed. Defence Security Command is the only military intelligence and investigation agency which is in charge of safeguarding military information and investigating specific crimes such as subversion and disloyalty in military. While the presidential security provided by Defence Security Command, along with Presidential Security Service(PSS) and the police, forms one of three pillars sustaining presidential security, its works and activities have been rarely known to the public due to the military confidentiality. This study looks into some data specialized into the presidential security among works of Defense Security Command by using various resources such as biographies of key people, media reports, and public materials. It reviews the presidential security works in a historical sense that the works have developed and changed in accordance with the historical changes of Defense Security Command, which was rooted in Counter-Intelligence Corps (Teukmubudae in Korean) in 1948 and leads to the present. The study findings are as follows. First, when the Korean War broke out in 1950 and since then the South Korea was under the threat of the North Korean armed forces and left wing forces, Counter-Intelligence Corps(Bangcheopdudae in Korean) took the lead in presidential security more than the police who was in charge of it. Secondly, even after the Presidential Security Office has founded in 1963, the role of the military on presidential security has been extended by changing its titles from Counter-Intelligence Corps to Army Security corps to Armed Forces Security Command. It has developed their provision of presidential security based on the experience at the president Rhee regime when they could successfully guard the president Rhee and the important government members. Third, since the re-establishment into Defence Security Command in 1990, it has added more security services and strengthened its legal basis. With the excellent expertise, it played a pivotal role in the G20 and other state-level events. After the establishment of the Moon Jaeinin government, its function has been reduced or abolished by the National Defense Reform Act. However, the presidential security field has been strengthening by improving security capabilities through reinforcing the organization. This strengthening of the security capacity is not only effective in coping with the current confrontation situation with the hostile North Korean regime, but also is important and necessary in conducting constant monitoring of the military movement and security-threat factors within military during the national security events.
The purpose of this research is to analyze authority and expertise of internally-selected Director of Presidential Security Service (PSS) through case-studies of the 9th Director of PSS Sang-Bum Park and the 13th Director of PSS Sang-Kuk Yeom, and to provide suggestions as to how to improve the expertise of PSS director and how to make PSS more trusted by the president and citizens. To do so, this study employs qualitative research on various references while acquiring testimonies from an expert group. The result of the research is as follows. First, the 9th Director of PSS Sang-Bum Park and the 13th Director of PSS Sang-Kuk Yeom are categorized as non-authoritative Director of Presidential Security Service. Second the 9th Director of PSS Sang-Bum Park and the 13th Director of PSS Sang-Kuk Yeom are categorized as expert-type Director of Presidential Security Service. It must be acknowledged that the authority of PSS directors does not come from close relationship with president or physical distance, but from legality and professionalism. Therefore, when appointing a person who is in charge of his/her own safety, the president must consider national security and professionalism in order to succeed as a ready president.
In modern society, private securities have developed their capabilities continuously. However, despite the fact that not only security industries have been considerably expanded in quantity, but also plenty of scholars published diverse papers relating to security problems, qualitative growths of private securities have not accomplished fully. Especially, securing the President would not be guaranteed only by PSS(Presidential Security Service). In order to secure the President successfully, it is necessary for all the social parts to strive to protect the President. In this respect, improving private securities, including academic fields, might be critical so as to succeed in securing the President. Without the supports from private securities, there might be lots of security problems in national context. Therefore, this study proposes several policy suggestions for the cooperation among PSS, private security industries and academic fields: (1) Providing a lot of practical knowledge from PSS to college students, (2) Personnel exchange between academic parts and PSS to promote the efficiency of securing the President, (3) Furnishing diverse information and knowledge about security to private securities, (4) Formulating security-searching standards, (5) Expanding educational institutions under PSS.

Lastly about a matter communication between the National Police Agency, and Security Association, not only look at from an authority's angle, collecting information, corresponding ability but now it is considered to grope each other cooperation device together among organizations not only the National Police Agency but also, National Organization, National Intelligence Service, the prosecution, Presidential Security Service Guard, Army etc.
