사회 구조가 산업사회에서 정보화 사회로 전환됨에 따라 학생들이 배양해야 할 능력은 단순한 지식이나 기능의 습득보다는 이러한 지식과 기능을 이용하여 새로운 상황에서 문제를 해결하는 능력, 즉 문제 해결력이다. 문제 해결력 신장을 위하여 문제 만들기가 효과적이라 생각된다. 본 연구자는 제 7차 교육과정이 적용되고 있는 상황에서 4학년을 대상으로 문제 상황에 따른 문제 만들기 활동을 적용하여 문제 해결력에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구 대상을 실험반과 비교반으로 나누어 연구 분석한 결과 실험반이 수학과 학습에 대한 흥미를 더 가질 수 있었으며, 문제 해결력에 도움이 된 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 문제 상황 제시 형태에 따른 연구가 전문적으로 지속되길 기대한다.

웹을 활용한 다양한 수업전략으로 정보의 수집을 통하여 지식을 구성하고 학습의 효율성을 높이는 개별학습과 타인과의 의사교환을 통해 책임감과 문제 해결력을 기를 수 있는 협동학습이 활발히 개발되고 있다. 그러나 현재 개발되어 있는 개별학습자료는 대부분 자료의 제시형태로 학습이 진행되어 학습자의 흥미를 유발하고, 문제에 대한 호기심을 자극하기에 적합하지 않다. 또한 협동학습자료는 현장의 교육과정과 연계성이 부족하여 수업 현장에서 적용이 어려운 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 사고력을 신장시킬 수 있도록 흥미있는 조작활동 위주의 자기주도적 학습을 적용하였다. 또한 의사 결정력과 ICT 활용능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 온라인 프로젝트학습을 함께 연계하여 운영이 가능하도록 사회과 교수-학습 시스템을 개발하였다. 본 시스템은 다양한 수업환경에 맞춰 융통성있는 운영이 가능하고, 형성평가를 통하여 수준별 학습이 이루어지며 평가결과는 피드백하여 활용할 수 있도록 개발하였다.

전개도는 우리나라 제 1차 교육과정부터 초등학교 수학교과서에서 꾸준히 다루어져 온 전통적인 교육내용이며, 주로 입체도형의 성질을 알아보거나 겉넓이를 구하기 위해 지도되어 왔다. 하지만 공간 감각에 대한 중요성이 점점 강조되고 있는 현 시점에서 전개도는 공간 감각을 다루기 위한 매우 적절한 학습 소재가 될 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 우리나라 초등학교 수학 교육과정과 교과서에서 전개도가 어떻게 지도되어 왔는지 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 일본, 싱가포르, 핀란드, 홍콩의 교과서에서 다루고 있는 전개도 관련 내용을 분석하였다. 이를 통해 공간 시각화와 공간 방향화의 향상 측면에서 올바른 전개도를 찾는 활동의 강화, 다양한 각도에서 본 입체도형의 모습 제시, 무늬가 들어간 입체도형의 전개도 활용을 시사점으로 제안하였다.

With the development of information and communication technology, interest in new educational approaches that can enhance the learning performance of learners with improved information literacy skills is increasing, and universities are actively promoting educational innovation to foster the talents required by society. In the field of fashion studies education, which is closely related to the fashion industry, there is a strong need to develop field-linked educational programs that reflect the trends in the industry and changes in the educational system. The purpose of this study was to introduce industry-coupled problem-based learning (IC-PBL) to the course "Understanding Fashion Consumption Trends" for non-fashion majors to reflect the current needs and strengthen the educational effectiveness of the learners through a survey. A seven-step curriculum (introduction to the class, practitioner's problem, learner's problem analysis, organizing concepts related to variables, information collection and scenario writing, presentation and scenario proposal, and evaluation) not only enhanced learners' understanding of fashion consumption trends and the fashion industry but also greatly amplified learners' satisfaction with the class. The results of the survey showed that the seven-step curriculum was effective in increasing learners' self-directed learning ability, problem-solving ability, and confidence in learning. Self-directed learning ability was stronger than other factors, consistent with the core principle of problem-based learning to empower learners to take the initiative and promote self-directed learning. Each factor analyzed was positively correlated.

As the world becomes a global village, national conferences become more frequent, and the language of choice to mediate the exchange of information is English. Accordingly, the purpose of this research is to find several methods to prepare L2 students for English communication at conferences. Various studies about discourse markers can be found in this study. Discourse markers are indicators of fluency in spoken language, and indicators of improvement from features of spoken English to more typical forms of formal writing. In this study the presentation styles of native speakers and Asian non-native speakers are compared, and the difference between efficient and non-efficient speakers at conferences are discussed. As a study of conference English teaching and learning method, this research targets suggestion and application of discourse markers for L2 speakers. As a result, the fact that discourse markers are very important in effective writing and conference English is found and accordingly we can see that developing the ability to use discourse markers in writing and speaking are essential for L2 speakers.

In order to investigate elementary school students' readiness to write on scientific subject, we analyzed the participants' draft in elementary student section [National Student Science Writing Contest] which is sponsored by a daily press. As a first step, we designed an assessment framework to analyze the students' writing. It is composed of three domains: scientific thinking, logical validity, creativeness. Each domain has three sub-domains. By using the framework, seven raters scored the students' inquiry reports. The findings reveal that the students needed the training for scientific writing. Especially they had great difficulty in the sub-domain of 'suggestion of rational alternative solution' in scientific thinking domain, the sub-domains of 'clearness' and 'coherence' in logical validity domain, and in the sub-domains of 'creative problem solving' and 'creative presentation' in creative domain.

Fuzzy Min-Max Neural Network(FMMNN) is a powerful classifier, It has, however, some problems. Learning result depends on the presentation order of input data and the training parameter that limits the size of hyperbox. The latter problem affects the result seriously. In this paper, the new approach to alleviate that without loss of on-line learning ability is proposed. The committee machine is used to achieve the multi-resolution FMMNN. Each expert is a FMMNN with fixed training parameter. The advantages of small and large training parameters are used at the same time. The parameters are selected by performance and independence measures. The Decision of each expert is guided by the gating network. Therefore the regional and parametric divide and conquer scheme are used. Simulation shows that the proposed method has better classification performance.

The central strategy in tissue engineering involves a biomaterial scaffold as a delivery carrier of cells and a depot to deliver bioactive molecules. The ability of scaffolds to control cellular response to direct particular repair and regeneration processes is essential to obtain functional tissue engineering constructs. Therefore, many efforts have been made to understand local interactions of cells with their extracellular matrix (ECM) microenvironment and exploit these interactions for designing an ideal scaffold mimicking the chemical, physiological, and structural features of native ECM. ECM is composed of a number of biomacromolecules including proteins, glycosaminoglycans, and proteoglycans, which are assembled together to form complex 3-dimensional network. Electrospinning is a process to generate highly porous 3-dimensional fibrous structure with nano to micro scaled-diameter, which can closely mimic the structure of ECM. In this presentation, our approaches to develop biomimetic electrospun fibers for modulation of cell function will be discussed.

This study describes the strategy for advanced decision support system (ADSS) development for integrated management of water resources and quality in reservoir systems. The developed ADSS consists of database that contain hydrologic data, observed operational data, and data to support specific reservoir operations simulation, optimization models, and water quality models. The optimization model, mass balance simulation model and water quality models are used in a general prototype ADSS, menu driven controlling framework that assists the user to specify and evaluate the alternative operational scenarios at one time. These alternative scenarios are evaluated by the models and the results are compared through the use of a graphical based display system. This graphical based system uses an icon based schematic representation of the system to organize the presentation of the results. The ADSS includes the ability to use monthly or weekly time periods of analysis for the models and it can use monthly historical or stochastically generated inflows.

This presentation delivers the Appreciation of the The Pan Ocean Remote Sensing Conference Association for the cooperation with the Korean Society of Remote Sensing in organizing a joint conference with the International Symposium of Remote Sensing. It includes a brief history of the PORSEC Association with its mission and aims and the system of governance of the organization. Our vision for the future, is presented from this president's point of view. It includes a discussion of building expert capacity to use remote sensing techniques in developing nations by the sharing of knowledge and our ability to promote predictability of natural hazards with our workshops and science sessions. The article ends with an appreciation of our many sponsors.
