  • In this paper, we present POSSDM (POSTECH Situation-Based Dialogue Manager) for a spoken dialogue system using a new example and situation-based dialogue management technique for effective generation of appropriate system responses. Spoken dialogue system should generate cooperative responses to smoothly control dialogue flow with the users. We introduce a new dialogue management technique incorporating dialogue examples and situation-based rules for EPG (Electronic Program Guide) domain. For the system response inference, we automatically construct and index a dialogue example database from dialogue corpus, and the best dialogue example is retrieved for a proper system response with the query from a dialogue situation including a current user utterance, dialogue act, and discourse history. When dialogue corpus is not enough to cover the domain, we also apply manually constructed situation-based rules mainly for meta-level dialogue management.

  • To create the value-added in the field of the shipbuilding, we have to vitalize the marine equipment industry. However the competitiveness is inclined to its outward than inward in the field of the shipbuilding in our country. Especially the field of the marine equipment industry needs to acquire the competitiveness as soon as possible in comparison with an advanced country. Therefore, this paper analyzes the characteristics of the marine equipment, the present situation of the marine equipment industry, the present situation of the demand-supply, the localization of the marine equipment, so that it can raise the competitiveness of the marine equipment industry. Based on this paper, it is the purpose of this paper to derive the alternative for acquiring the competitiveness. This paper is trying to find the way to progress the marine equipment industry and suggest well-founded data for acquiring the competitiveness.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the present situation of the performance assessment having been introduced for recent years as a new system to measure students' mathematical power as well as their achievement in mathematics by analyzing math teachers' recognition about the assessment. The specific research questions are as follows: (1) what is the difficulty in the administrative process of the assessment\ulcorner (2) what is mathematics teachers' recognition about the assessment with respect to its nature and purpose\ulcorner (3) what is the situation of the in-service program for the newly introduced assessment\ulcorner (4) what is the administrative procedure of the assessement\ulcorner (5) what is mathematics teachers' recognition about the effectiveness of the assessemtn\ulcorner (6) What support is requried to improve the assessemt?

  • The Northeast district includes He Longjiang, Liaojiang and JiLin province, which has an abundance of in vast, fertile, arable lands, and natural and human resources. So the Northeast district can provide the most beneficial conditions for the agricultural production and development to China. Korea is near the Northeast district, and its agricultural technologies are advanced. So it is advantageous and mutually beneficial to have cooperation between China and Korea. This article explores social structure, natural situation, present situation of agriculture and livestock, population and incomes of the countryside of the Northeast district. At the same time, this article introduces and promotes a program of cooperation between China and Korea in agriculture and livestock.

  • For prediction of ground movement per the excavation step, observational results of ground movement during the construction was very different with prediction during the analysis of design. step because of the uncertainty of the numerical analysis modelling, the soil parameter, and the condition of a construction field, etc. however accuratly numerical analysis method was applied. Therefore, the management system through the construction field measurement should be achieved for grasping the situation during the excavation. Until present, the measurement system restricted by ‘Absolute Value Management system’only analyzing the stability of present step was executed. So, it was difficult situation to expect the prediction of ground movement for the next excavation step. In this situation, it was developed that ‘The Management system TOMAS-EXCAV’ consisted of ‘Absolute value management system’ analyzing the stability of present step and ‘Prediction management system’ expecting the ground movement of next excavation step and analyzing the stability of next excavation step by‘Back Analysis’. TOMAS-EXCAV could be applied to all uncertainty of earth retaining structures analysis by connecting ‘Forward analysis program’ and ‘Back analysis program’ and optimizing the main design variables using SQP-MMFD optimization method through measurement results. The application of TOMAS-EXCAV was confirmed that verifed the three earth retaing construction field by back analysis.

  • This study was conducted to analyze the priority of environmental problems in Korea by investigating the environmental professionals' perception. The delphi technique was applied to identify their risk perception towards some specific items related with pollution. A standardized questionnaire on environmental problems and their priorities was used to 74 subjects. In the questionnaire, the environmental problems were divided into the general ones,9 items, and the specific ones,30 items. Also, the perception was associated with two points of view which were the risk on general human health or ecosystem, and on the present situation in Korea. The priority of risk from general environmental problems on human health or ecosystem was analyzed in the order of 'water pollution', 'air pollution', 'soil contamination', 'waste', 'toxic chemical pollutants', 'food contamination', 'ocean contamination', 'odor pollution', and 'noise pollution'. The priority of risk on the present situation in Korea was analyzed in the order of 'water pollution','air pollution','waste','toxic chemical pollutants','food contamination','soil contamination','ocean contamination','odor pollution', and 'noise pollution'. And these priorities were significantly related with the characteristics of respondents such as sex, age, and major concerned area. However, for the first five priorities of risk from the specific environmental problems on human health or ecosystem, the environmental professionals agreed with 'automotive vehicle exhaust', 'domestic and industrial source pollutants to surface water', '$CO_2$nd g1oba1 warming effect','toxic air pollutant' and 'industrial source air pollution'. The priorities of risk on the present situation in Korea were similar to these results.

  • This survey was performed to investigate the kitchen facilities and present meal situation in the four Korean big cities; Seoul, Pusan, Kwangju and Taejon. The results are as follows; 1. The kitchen facilities. The number of families with old-fashioned kitchen forms a percentage of 10.8. The kitchen floor consists mainly of polyvinyl chloride materials such as monoryum and vinyl. Gas fuel is mostly used for home cooking. The families equipped waterworks and drainage system in the kitchen cover 92.6% and 85.7% respectively. 2. The present meal situation. Most of the housewives do the cooking for themselves (94.4%) and it is desirable for the health and nutrition of the whole family. The number of families that use the dining kitchen for daily meals covers 53.4%. All the family have their dinner together at most once a week. The instant foods are used frequently in the family whose housewife has a job and the family with high income.
