  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between women's gender microaggression experience in the workplace and their percieved level of decent work based on the Psychology of Working Theory(PWT) among South Korean women employees. Specifically, we focused on testing the mediating role of career adaptability, an intrapersonal variable in PWT, and the moderating role of organizational culture of gender prejudice, a contextual variable in PWT, on career adaptability. Online survey data were collected from 219 South Korean women employees and Mplus 7.0 was used to test the simple mediation and moderated mediation effects based on structural equation modeling. Results indicated that there was no mediating effect of career adaptability between the relationship between gender microaggression in the workplace and decent work, however, a significant moderation effect was found by the organizational culture of gender prejudice on the mediating effect of career adaptability. Based on these results, practical implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

  • This study aimed to identify the factors affecting elderly care willingness (ECW) of nursing students. A total of 313 nursing students participated in the study. Data were collected from May to June 2019 using Interpersonal Reactivity Index-Korean version, Semantic Differential Scaling for evaluating attitudes toward elders, Scale of Ageism, and Questionnaire for care willingness toward older adults. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS 21.0 Program. The factors with the most significant influence on the elderly care willingness was prejudice toward the elderly (β=-.30, p=.001), followed by attitude toward the elderly (β=-.25, p=.004), third year (β=-.23, p=.016), satisfaction with volunteer experience with the elderly (β=-.21, p=.008), satisfaction with nursing major (β=-.17, p=.032), and empathy (β=.16, p=.046). These factors explained 46% of the elderly care willingness. In conclusion, it is necessary to reduce prejudice against the elderly and develop positive attitudes toward the elderly to increase the willingness of nursing students to care for older adults. In particular, further study is required to increase the willingness of nursing students to care for the elderly through developing programs such as curriculums for positive contact experiences with the elderly and volunteer activities for the elderly.

  • Police officers have an obligation to their profession to continuously strive for fairness for all the people they serve. However, some police officers are believed to have developed prejudicial attitudes towards some groups of the society and exercised police power unfairly against them. Especially, when the actions of the police are prejudicial during criminal investigation, this can affect outcomes of the investigation. Therefore, the police need to tackle this problem effectively. In order to develop a preventive strategy, the police must have a clear understanding of prejudice. However, there has been little research on this topic in Korea. Thus, this study attempted to fill the gap. The purpose of the current study was to examine if prejudice of police officers are statistically valid. In order to answer this research question, the present study utilized the results of 173 polygraph examinations that had been employed to investigate traffic accidents in a provincial police agency in 2006. From the polygraph examination reports, information relating to the subjects could be identified and this information was analyzed, using a logistic regression. The results of the logistic regression revealed that most of the variables relating to the subjects did not affect the credibility of the subjects' statements. This means the police officers' belief that some groups of people make false statements more often than others during criminal investigation is an unfounded prejudice.

  • This study aims to find out the determinants of male police officers' investigative behavior(active investigation vs. secondary victimization) of sexual violence. For this purpose, a hypothetical model which explains the relationships among the 5 variables (knowledge of law about the investigative role, perception of the protective & connective role, prejudice against the sexual violence, active investigation, and secondary victimization) was developed. Using the data collected from 354 male police officers of 3 cities in Gyeongnam area, the hypothetical model was tested. For data analysis, a structural equation modeling was used, and the final model was found(CFI=0.947, IFI=0.948, RMSEA=0.048). As a result of analyzing the model, the followings were found: (1) Active investigation was increased by knowledge of law about the investigative role, and perception of the protective & connective role, while decreased by prejudice against the sexual violence. (2) Secondary vicimization was decreased by knowledge of law about the investigative role. (3) Prejudice against the sexual violence mediate the effects of knowledge of law about the investigative role, and perception of the protective & connective role on active investigation. (4) Prejudice against the sexual violence was found to have no significant effect on secondary victimization. Based on the findings, multi-educational programs, protocols on investigation of sexual violence, professionalization of the police, and changes in investigation environment as well as a system of collaboration and cooperation between police officer and social worker were suggested as a way to increase active investigation and to decrease secondary victimization.

  • This study is to prove out that the group members' prejudice about divorce was lessened by participating in the sociodrama, making the sociodrama performed during five sessions from September 27, 2011 to November 8, 2011 as object of study. The prejudice was lessened mainly by way of role rotation, which was interpreted on the philosophical basis, '~becoming' of Gilles Deleuze, $F{\acute{e}}lix$ Guattari. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, the lessening of prejudice about divorce was realized by way of 'true meeting'. It is achieved by the boundary-blurring between 'You' and 'I' through the 'molecular-becoming'. Secondly, the participants took a stricter stance against the divorce by a extramarital affair rather than the divorce by a domestic violence. It is thought that the boundary-blurring in the divorce by a extramarital affair is able to be accomplished more effectively than the boundary-blurring in domestic violence. Fourthly, an understanding of society not as an individual, 'I' but as a community, 'We' worked effectively in solving various social problems. This perspective is helpful in blurring the boundary between 'You' and 'I', and then in seeing 'You' and 'I' as a whole entity. In conclusion, it is found out that this sociodrama program has a considerable effect on the lessening of the prejudice about divorce.

  • It Is indispensible to cause vibration, noise and dust to blasting and breaker operations. Since the control of these factors is supposed to be extremely difficult, the claim of compensation for material and mental damages are getting increased. Economically feasible blasting operation with controlling vibration and noise can be achieved by establishment of science-based plan, accurate operation and responsible inspection, and the application of efficient management system. It must also be remarked that the relevant applied without prejudice by the operator, and the law and regulation should be applied without prejudice by the authority concerned. In addition, the public claim against operators should be investigated in detail and the prosecution should be made under the careful onside-ration of scientific and reasonable conception. Finally, it is strongly suggested that the operations, public and authorities should make great efforts to develop higher technology in order to expand our construction market, to overseas.

  • This essay examines how Wallace Thurman envisions throug h Emma Lou a possibility of overcoming self-hatred and moving toward self-acceptance in his novel, The Blacker the Berry. Focusing on Emma Lou's departure from Alva and his deformed son, this essay contends that her "selfish" act is the first step toward self-acceptance. Describing his dark-skinned protagonist's pathetic attempts to belong to light-skinned people, Thurman mercilessly exposes and criticizes Emma Lou's psychological contradictions. Simultaneously, however, Thurman sympathizes with and shows some respect for her endeavors to make a difference in her life. Emma Lou's redemption from her self-hatred can come only when she realizes its detrimental effects on her life and learns to love herself enough to be selfish. By granting Emma Lou an opportunity to conduct a serious self-examination and resolve to sever ties with Alva, Thurman demonstrates a possibility of fighting against the color prejudice found both inside and outside oneself.

  • The purpose of this study was to obtain basic data for nutrition education of the children in a health promoting elementry school. The data was collected by a questionaire of food habits, and anthropometric measurement and biochemical test in comparison with obesity index. The study subjects were boys and girls aged 10 to 12 years who participated in the “99 Children Nutrition Camp”. The average obesity index was 1.7$\pm$21.6% in boys and -11.4$\pm$12.6% in girls. After school, major leisure items were significnatly different by gender but both boys and girls played mainly computer game. In concern for body image and eating habits, girls had more concern and girls had attempted weight control more than boys. 80.2% of subjects had prejudice for special food, especially, all subjects in the severely underweight group had prejudice. But this tendency was significantly decreased with the increasing obesity index. The lowest preferency was for vegetables(64.4%). The tendency of prejudice of subjects was higher whose mother are thirties than those of subjects whose mother are in fourties. The serum GOT and GPT values were significantly higher in overweight and obese group than the other groups. The only serum T-chol was significantly higher in boys than in girls. The number of risk factors related to coronary heart disease(CHD) based on coresponding criteria of TG, T-chol, HDL-chol, and LDL-chol was not increased significantly with the degree of obesity index. The results indicated the need of nutritional management for the children. At a point of view, to educate children early who are able to change food habits and life-styles means to help heathy growth and to deliver up heathy adults. Active nutrition education for both children and mothers will be recommended with joint participation of nutritionists in community public health center and elementary school.
