Classifying Lifestyle and Preferred Sensations of Female Consumer (여성 소비자의 라이프스타일 유형과 선호감성)

  • This study was designed to investigate the new concept about lifestyle of female consumer in the present time of digital revolution and to analyze the preferences and sensibilities according to the types of consumer lifestyle classified into the same group. Survey was done through questionnaire of 79 questions and the data of 151 female consumers in the age of 19-34 were analyzed statistically using SPSS. The 6 factors were extracted from 39 lifestyle questions: consumerism, seeking challenge, communal life, quality of life, digital orientation and active counter plan. 6 Lifestyle clusters of female consumers were as following: the no-concern satisfied, the digital passive, the consumer personal, the digital active, the consumer communal and the adventurous. 30.5% of female consumer was the digital lifestyle who are relatively older and highly educated, of high income and expense rate, and resident in Gangnam. The preferred sensations by female consumer were 5; reasonal, feminine, conspicuous, active, and modest, and the clusters according to the sensations were 5: the casual, the status-symbolism, the rich in contents, the romantist, and the elegance. Lifestyle and preferred sensations were so related that the no-concern satisfied were the status-symbolism and the romantist, while the digital were the richness of contents and the adventurous were the romantist.

Grouping and Visualization of Preferred Sensations among College students (선호하는 감성어휘 분석을 통한 남녀대학생의 감성 유형화)

  • 98가지 감성 형용사를 수집하여 176명의 남녀대학생을 대상으로 SD법에 의해 선호도를 조사한 결과, 선호감성어휘는 '로맨틱, 센수얼, 캐주얼, 클래식, 캐릭터, 프린스, 심플, 복고풍, 모던, 수공예, 테크노' 등으로 요약되었는데 이를 바탕으로 군집분석을 시행하여 선호 감성을 유형화시켰다. 남녀대학생이 선호감성은 크게 10가지의 유형으로 나타났는데, 대부분의 대학생들이 '캐주얼파였으나(32.4%), 이는 구체적으로 '비장식개성캐주얼파, 역동쿨개성캐주얼파'였으며, 다음으로는 '단순내추럴파'가 17.3%였다. 이후 '클래식파(9.2%-수공예로맨틱클래식파, 획일적클래식파', '비표현파(8.7%)', '호화개성복고파(6.4%)', '민족감성선호파(4.6%)' 등이 있었다. 대학생을 집단들은 크게 두 개의 선호 감성축(정적-동적, 경량-중량)을 중심으로 가시적으로 그룹화 될 수 있었다.

Clothing-Purchasing Behavior and Preferred Sensation according to Fashion Lifestyle of Female Consumers (여성소비자의 라이프스타일에 따른 의복구매 행동과 선호감성에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze the new lifestyle of female consumer of age in the range of 19∼35 and to investigate their clothing-purchasing behavior and preferred sensation by lifestyle group. The questionnaire survey was carried out on 402 subjects with 31 lifestyle questions, 32 questions of clothing purchasing behavior and 18 questions of preferred sensation. Through factor, cluster analysis and anova using SPSS, we found that the female consumers were composed of 6 lifestyle groups; Traditional Appearance Pursuit(19.4%), Personal Life Pursuit(15.7%), Outer Beauty Pursuit(15.9%), Active Practical Pursuit(11.4%), Digital Leisure Pursuit(13.4%) and Unconcern(21.6%). The location of 6 lifestyle group were visualized in 2-D as the horizontal axis of 'Internal↔Appearance' and the vertical axis of 'Personal↔Collective'. Six groups by lifestyle showed different clothing-purchasing behavior and preferred sensations, and had different socio statistical parameters, such as age, income, job and education.

Assessment of Subjective Sensation and Purchasing Preferences for Casual Shirt Fabrics (캐주얼 셔츠소재에 대한 주관적 감각과 구매 선호도 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the subjective sensations and preference for spring/fall casual cotton shirt fabrics, and to assist in developing shirt fabrics that offer maximum comfort in wearing sensation. The subjects of this study were male and female college students who assessed the tactile sensation of seven types of spring/fall shirt fabrics available on the market: plain weave and rib weave made of cotton and that of cotton mixed fabrics. The subjects were university students between the ages of 20 to 23, who were residing in the city of Cheongju, Korea. The questionnaires related to the fabrics hand were evaluated using a nine point bi-polar scale of 9 descriptive terms. Mean, t-test, F-test and $X^2$ were used for data analysis. The fabric hand evaluation on the seven types of shirts showed a significant difference in all of the 9 descriptive terms. There were partially significant differences in the subjective sensations according to fabric characteristics regarding shirt fabrics. As regards the difference in fabric hand according to gender, female students responded with more receptiveness and sensitivity than male students in the category of woven fabric evaluation. In particular, female students responded with more sensitivity to the sensation of dense and wrinkle sensations. There were significant differences in the purchase preference according to gender regarding casual shirt fabrics. Plain weave fabrics made of cotton was most preferred among male students, whereas rib weave fabrics made of cotton/polyester was most preferred among female students.

The Effect of Textile Mechanical Properties on Human Sensibility (직물의 역학적 특성이 질감 감성에 미치는 효과)

  • This study developed a test with a high test-retest reliability consisting of 18 items by selecting from Korean adjectives describing tactile sensations. Principal components were extracted by three repeated measurements of 19 different fabrics for underwear. Adjectives such as 'smooth' 'soft' 'sexy' 'comfortable' and 'cozy' were most discriminating between preferred and non-preferred fabrics. The fabrics were analyzed by Kawabata Evaluation System in 16 mechanical properties, then these properties were analyzed by regression analyses as to their relations with human sensation and sensibility. Among the fabrics, the most preferred were made of polyester whereas the least preferred were made of gauze and cotton. Mechanical properties were identified that were related to the most discriminating adjectives such as 'smooth', 'soft', 'sexy,' and 'cozy'.

The Wearing Practices and Subjective Fabrics Preferences for Spring and Fall Dress Shirts of Male Office Workers (직장 남성의 춘추용 드레스 셔츠 착용 실태 및 소재 선호도)

  • This study was intended to analyze the wearing practices and the subjective fabrics preferences for men's dress shirts. It was performed by means of convenience sampling survey of male office workers wearing dress shirts who were living in Seoul, Geonggi, and Chungcheong area. Collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, t-test, and ANOVA using SPSS. The results were as follows: Most of the male office workers owned 5 dress shirts, and blue color dress shirts were preferred to white one. It was shown that most of the respondents wore dress shirts at the office almost every day with necktie. The preferred sensations of the dress shirt fabrics were the soft, wrinkle-free, smooth and dry ones. There were partially significant differences according to gender and age of male office workers in the wearing practices and subjective fabrics preferences of dress shirts.

Distribution of the Garment Pressure by Postures (자세 변화에 따른 의복압 분포 현황)

  • This study was to investigate the distribution of the garment pressure in daily wearing and in ordinary posture. Ninety-nine college women students majoring the fashion were participated for this study. IBP questionnaire, garment pressure, personal preferring pressure sensations(questionnaire), and subjective garment pressure sensations were measured. There were no significant differences between the data of 2003 and those of 2005. Participants preferred T-shirts and jeans and also preferred slightly fitted style to the loose style. They were classified with the high garment pressure group and the low garment pressure group. Garment pressure from lower garments were usually higher in the high garment pressure group than in the low garment pressure group. There was no significant differences in the upper garments weights between two groups. The lower garments weight of the high garment pressure group showed $533.3{\pm}182.11g/m^2$ and that of the low garment pressure group was $453.4{\pm}181.6g/m^2$. There was a significant difference in the lower garments weight between two groups(p<.01). In a standing posture, there were no significant differences among the distribution of garment pressure. There was a significant garment pressure differences between sitting on a chair and sitting on the floor(p<.001). Participants included in the low garment pressure group felt a higher garment pressure than participants included in the high garment pressure group.

Grouping Preferred Sensations of College Students Using Sementic Differential Methods of Sensation Words (선호감성 어휘분석을 통한 남녀 대학생의 감성 유형화)

  • This study was designed to cluster the preferred sensibilities of college students, and to distinguish the most preferred sensibility according to gender and their inter-subject differences. 98 of sensibility adjectives were composed into questionnaire with SD method and the data of 176 students were analyzed in ANOVA, Cluster and Correspondence analysis using SAS package. College students were divided into 10-sensibility clusters: the Casual(no-decoration casual, cool-dynamic casual and elaborate-clean casual), the Romantic Modem, the Simple Natural, the Classic(craft-romantic classic and monotonous classic), the Expressionless, the Gorgeous, and the Traditional Folklore. The adjectives and the sensibility clusters of students were visualized together into 2-D with two axis of static vs. dynamic and light vs. heavy.

Development and Efficiency Evaluation of 3D Cycling Wrist Protector (3차원 자전거 손목 보호대 개발 및 효율성 평가)

  • In this study, a wrist protector was manufactured and designed using 3D printing technology to prevent wrist pain when riding a bicycle with a high forward-tilted saddle. The efficiency of the design was analyzed in objective and subjective evaluations. First, seven women in their twenties selected their most preferred design by subjective evaluation from among three 3D wrist protectors. Then electromyography (EMG) was measured and subjective sensations were evaluated while wearing and not wearing the preferred 3D wrist protector as selected by cyclists. Experimental results showed that a wrist-bending angle of 30 degrees was most favored. When the 3D wrist protector was worn, muscle activity was smaller at the flexor carpus radialis position than when the 3D wrist protector was not worn; muscle fatigue was also lower. In the subjective evaluation, the 3D wrist protector was more comfortable than no protector, and wrist fatigue was also lower. In addition, the wrist protector was rated positively for its design suitability, size adequacy, ease of operation, and fit; however, cyclists felt that a little more cushioning was needed.

A Study on the Development of Patterns for Pants for Men in their Early 20s and Evaluation of Subjective Wear Sensation (20대 초반의 남성을 위한 다양한 팬츠 패턴 제안 및 착용평가)

  • This investigates the type of pants preferred by Korean men in their 20s through a subjective wear test. Six types of men's pants were developed as experimental garments. The male subjects were university students between the ages of 20 and 24. Subjective wear sensations of the experimental pants were rated using seven Likert scales. A 7-point Likert-type scale was used for the evaluation, with 7 indicating the best fit. As a result, a basic men's sloper for lower body clothing was developed based on SizeKorea 2004 anthropometric measurements surveyed between 2003 and 2004. A basic pattern (A) was manipulated to tight-fit pants (E) and loose-fit pants (D, L, M, and N) by considering the ease at hip level and the style. Among the six pants, pants D and L (4cm ease at hip level) were found to be superior to others in terms of comfort, fitting, and crotch depth. With regard to ease and comfort of the crotch part, pants E and A (0cm ease at hip level) were found to be the least preferred.
