  • In this paper, we propose a user-centric conflict management method for media services which exploits personal companions for the harmonious detection and resolution of service conflicts. To detect conflicts based on the varying characteristics of individual users, the proposed method exploits the unified context describing all users attempting to access media services. It recommends and mediates users' preferred media contents through a shared screen and personal companions to resolve the detected conflicts. During the recommendation, a list of preferred media contents is displayed on the shared screen, and a personally preferred content list is shown on the user's personal companion comprising the selection of media contents. Mediation assists the selection of a consensual service by gathering the users' selections and highlighting the common media contents. In experiments carried out in a ubiHome, we observed that recommendations and mediation are useful in harmoniously resolving conflicts by encouraging user participation in conflict situations.

  • As a result of climate change, mountain sediment disasters due to localized heavy rain and mountain development are occuring more frequently, thus, increasing social attention to and demand for soil erosion control projects. However, since 2011 Seoul Wumyeon Mountain landslide, the public is expressing increasing anxiety as well as negative perception regarding defective project results. Therefore, this study investigated promotional terms and information media related to soil erosion control projects according to the consumer in order to increase awareness of soil erosion control projects. In this study, the information consumers were divided into experts and the general public and conducted a survey related to promotional terms and media for communicating relevant information. In the result, the experts chose landslide prevention and recovery projects (41.8%) as an appropriate promotional term for soil erosion control projects. The general public, however, chose mountain sediment disaster prevention projects (32.5%) as the appropriate promotional term. However, the analysis showed that it would be necessary to develop an promotional term that can encompass the concept of 'disaster prevention' including forest and soil disaster as the word 'landslide' can suggest soil erosion control is limited to landslides only. In the survey regarding the media for communicating information related to soil erosion control projects according to the consumer type, the experts preferred radio and TV as media to communicate the relevant information, while, among the general public, the youths preferred social media such as Facebook and Twitter (22.22%) and adults radio and TV (34.07%), As for the most effective way to promote soil erosion control projects, the experts chose traditional promotinal media such as newspaper, radio, and TV (0.172) whereas the adults and youths preferred the internet and Facebook (0.089). It appears that using the preferred media for communicating information related to soil erosion control projects according to the consumer type will be effective way to promote soil erosion control projects.

In addition, analysis results of headlines that are put on the top with a click counts in online newspapers are that attention-attracting headlines are the majority, while subject-hiding headlines that are hardly used in offline newspapers, are well-used in online newspapers. • The purposes of this study were to investigate bag purchasing behaviors and design preferences of male and female adult consumers, and to find the differences depending on sex and age variable. A survey was conducted on 400 male and female adults from 20s to 50s. The questionnaire consisted of bag purchase behaviors, bag design preferences, and the subjects' demographic characteristics. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's α, factor analysis, x2 test and t-test using SPSS. The results were as follows. First, as bag selection criteria, four factors (practicality, symbolism, aesthetics, and economics) were derived, and adult consumers considered economics as the most important among the factors. As for purchasing information sources, three factors (media, human resources, and store) were derived, and adult consumers considered human resources and store information sources more important than media. The main motive for purchasing bags was age and damage of the owned products, and Internet shopping malls were the most common purchasing place. The average annual cost of purchasing bags was 100,000 to 300,000 won, and the frequency of purchase was about once a year. Second, as bag preference images, four factors (individual, romantic, active, and classic image) were derived, and adult consumers preferred classic images the most. The shoulder bag was the most preferred as the bag shape, and black was the most preferred bag color. For the material, natural leather was the most preferred, and for the size, medium size was the most preferred. Third, bag purchasing behaviors and design preferences showed many significant differences according to the sex and age of the consumers. Therefore, the results of this study suggests that bag companies need to establish product development and marketing strategies in consideration of differences according to the sex and age group of adult consumers.
