  • 본 연구에서는 합리적인 잔교용 설계기준을 마련하기 위한 기초적인 연구로써 지반조건을 고려한 잔교의 거동특성을 분석하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 고려한 잔교는 구조적인 합리성과 시공성(조립시공)이 우수한 조립식 잔교를 대상으로 하였다.(강효기 외, 2010) 서해안의 연약지반을 고려하기 위해 지반스프링을 이용한 해석모델을 개발하고, 다양한 해석조건에 대한 해석을 수행하여 그 특성을 파악하고자 하였다.

  • The use of PBD(prefabricated band drain)far ground improvement is rapidly increased due to the merit of construction period and cost, environmental preservation compared with other vertical drain method, and the development of material. This paper presents the historical review, theoretical background, design procedure and method, and typical construction example for the PBD. Also, the direction of further technical development and study is recommended.

  • The jumper devices of overhead power transmission lines are getting increased in size with the adoptation of higher voltage and bundled conductors. Increasement of jumper devices' size results in the cost increasement. Therefore, the adoptation of prefabricated jumper device is cost effective method in T/L. This papers are mentioned about selection of proper value of standard deviation for jumper devices by dynamic swing characteristics. And we are analyzed to effects for tower scheme and weight addition.

Effect of the Tapered Angle on the Ultimate Load Factors of PPWS Sockets in Main Cables of Suspension Bridges (현수교 PPWS용 소켓의 내벽 경사각이 소켓의 극한 하중계수에 미치는 영향)

  • Ultimate load factors of PPWS(Prefabricated Parallel Wire Strand) sockets in main cables of suspension bridges are studied with respect to the tapered angles of the inner surface of sockets. After briefly reviewing the current design method, 15 numbers of finite element models of sockets are prepared by varying the number of wires in a strand and the tapered angles. The finite element models are updated by comparing experimental and numerical results, so that the models can reflect the real behavior of sockets. The stress distributions at the first yielding and ultimate states are analyzed by performing the incremental load analysis using ABAQUS. It is concluded that the optimized tapered angle of sockets should be determined at the specific angle between the results of verification equations of the required bonding length and stress resistance length.

Development of Aircap Wall Module through the Lamination of Aircap (에어캡 적층을 통한 에어캡 벽 모듈 개발)

  • The insulation performance of aircaps has been recognized and various studies regarding the aircap as a solution to increased building energy consumption are being carried out. However, the aircap is not durable and therefore it cannot play the role of an independent finishing material. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to suggest an aircap wall module with improved durability through the lamination of the aircap and verify its effectiveness by evaluating its energy saving performance for lighting and air conditioning through a full-scale testbed. The conclusions of this study are as follows. 1) The aircap wall module featuring a laminated aircap that is being proposed in this study can save lighting energy due to the permeability of the aircap in comparison to previous insulating materials. 2) The aircap wall module with a laminated aircap is effective in improving heating and air-conditioning energy saving when it is more than 15 cm-thick during summer and winter in comparison to a 5 cm-thick prefabricated panel. 3) The aircap wall module featuring a laminated aircap is effective in improving lighting and heating and air-conditioning energy saving when it is 10 cm- and 5 cm-thick during summer and winter, respectively, in comparison to a 5 cm-thick prefabricated panel.

Observational failure analysis of precast buildings after the 2012 Emilia earthquakes

  • The 2012 Emilia (Italy) earthquakes struck a highly industrialized area including several thousands of industrial prefabricated buildings. Due to the lack of specific design and detailing for earthquake resistance, precast reinforced concrete (RC) buildings suffered from severe damages and even partial or total collapses in many cases. The present study reports a data inventory of damages from field survey on prefabricated buildings. The damage database concerns more than 1400 buildings (about 30% of the total precast building stock in the struck region). Making use of the available shakemaps of the two mainshocks, damage distributions were related with distance from the nearest epicentre and corresponding Pseudo-Spectral Acceleration for a period of 1 second (PSA at 1 s) or Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA). It was found that about 90% of the severely damaged to collapsed buildings included into the database stay within 16 km from the epicentre and experienced a PSA larger than 0.12 g. Moreover, 90% of slightly to moderately damaged buildings are located at less than 25 km from the epicentre and were affected by a PSA larger than 0.06 g. Nevertheless, the undamaged buildings examined are almost uniformly distributed over the struck region and 10% of them suffered a PSA not lower than 0.19g. The damage distributions in terms of the maximum experienced PGA show a sudden increase for $PGA{\geq}0.28g$. In this PGA interval, 442 buildings were collected in the database; 55% of them suffered severe damages up to collapse, 32% reported slight to moderate damages, whereas the remaining 13% resulted undamaged.

A STUDY ON THE FRACTURE STRENGTH OF TEETH RESTORED WITH A CARBON FIBER POST UNDER CYCLIC LOADING (반복하중하에서의 carbon fiber post의 파절강도에 관한 연구)

  • In the restoration of endodontically treated teeth, carbon fiber post was recently introduced. The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the fracture strength of teeth restored with a pre-fabricated carbon fiber post in comparison with teeth restored with a prefabricated titanium post & custom cast gold post after cyclic loading in the different environment. A total of 30 recently extracted human central incisors of similar dimension with crowns removed were used. All teeth were placed into acrylic blocks and every steps for post and core fabrication were made accord-ing to manufacture's instruction. The post length and core dimensions were standardizd. All teeth were divided into 6 groups: 1) carbon fiber post / atmosphere, 2) titanium post / atmosphere, 3) gold post / atmosphere, 4) carbon fiber post / wet, 5) titanium post / wet, 6) gold post / wet. Carbon fiber post and titanium post were cemented in place using resin cement and cores were fabricated with Ti-Core. Custom cast gold post was made from Duralay pattern resin and cemented using resin cement, too. All specimens were thermocycled 10,000 times. After 50,000 cyclic loading, failure strength was measured using Instron testing machine. Kruskal-Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney test was used to compare the mean fracture strength. Results were as follows : 1. All specimens showed lower fracture strength in wet environment after cyclic loading than in atmosphere condition, but did not reveal a significant difference. 2. There was no significant difference between carbon fiber post specimen and titanium post specimen in the same environment. 3. Gold cast post specimen showed significant different greater fracture strength than those of others in the same environment. 4. Carbon fiber post specimen showed no root fracture.

Compression Test for Prefabricated Composite Columns Using High-Strength Steel Angles (고강도 앵글을 적용한 선조립 합성기둥의 압축 실험)

  • In this study, prefabricated composite columns using high-strength angles (PSRC composite column) was studied. Concentric axial loading tests were performed for 2/3 scale PSRC specimens and an conventional SRC specimen with H-steel at the center of the cross-section. The test parameters were the steel ratio of angles and the spacing of lateral re-bars. The test results showed that by placing the angles at the corners of the cross-section for confinement with provided for the core concrete, the PSRC column specimens exhibited greater load-carrying capacity and deformation capacity than those of the conventional SRC column. The axial load-carrying capacity of the PSRC columns was greater than the prediction by KBC 2009. Using existing stress-strain relationship of confined concrete, the axial load-deformation relationship of the specimens were predicted. The numerical predictions correlated well with the test results in terms of initial stiffness, load-carrying capacity, and post-peak strength- and stiffness-degradations.

Evaluation of Torsional Behaviour for the Catwalk System on A Suspension Bridge by Cross Bridge Interval (크로스 브릿지 간격에 따른 캣워크 시스템의 비틀림 거동 평가)

  • This study was conducted for the torsional behavior of catwalk system which is a temporary structure on a suspension bridge. The torsional deformation of the catwalk structure has a significant effect on the workability and safety of workers during main cable erection. For this reason, the torsional deformation of catwalk is controlled to be acceptable levels below by adjusting the cross bridge interval in design stage. This study analyzed the effect of separation between cross bridge associated with twist safety of catwalk system. For the analytical approach, a detailed analysis model was created including cross bridge. Both wind load within the wind velocity range that allows the construction and eccentric load of Prefabricated Parallel Wire Strand were analyzed by analysis model. Result of study shows that separation between cross bridges has a significant effect on the torsional behavior of the catwalk.

A Study on Performance of Double-Core PBD for Improving Thick Reclaimed Ground (대심도 연약지반 개량을 위한 이중코어 PBD 성능연구)

  • Prefabricated Board Drains (PBDs) recently become more widely used than conventional sand drains in improving soft ground because the PBD is more time and cost effective. The performance of PBDs is affected by disturbance in the adjacent soil formation during inserting mandrels, the intrusion of fine particles into filter fabric, and necking of the drain by excessive lateral pressure especially occurring in very deep clay formation such as the Busan New Port site. In this study, the PBD with double-core is introduced, which seems to overcome the shortcomings of usual single-core PBDs. An in-situ test program was established in the Busan New Port site, in which a set of the double-core PBDs and the single-core PBDs was installed to compare the efficiency of each of the drains. The discharge capacity of the double-core and the single-core PBDs was compared for various confining pressures in the modified Delft test and the chamber test. A series of CRS consolidation tests was performed in order to obtain profiles of void ratio-effective stress and void ratio-permeability relationships in the Busan New Port site that are used as input date in performing a numerical program ILLICON. The numerically simulated settlements of ground surface in the test site are in good agreement with those of in-situ measurements. In addition, the performance of the double-core and single-core PBDs has been experimentally and numerically compared in this paper.
