In this paper, an improved predictive functional control (PFC) scheme for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) control system is proposed, on account of the standard PFC method cannot provides a satisfying disturbance rejection performance in the case of strong disturbances. The PFC-based method is first introduced in the control design of speed loop, since the good tracking and robustness properties of the PFC heavily depend on the accuracy of the internal model of the plant. However, in orthodox design of prediction model based control method, disturbances are not considered in the prediction model as well as the control design. A minimum-order observer (MOO) is introduced to estimate the disturbances, which structure is simple and can be realized at a low computational load. This paper adopted the MOO to observe the load torque, and the observations are then fed back into PFC model to rebuild it when considering the influence of perturbation. Therefore, an improved PFC strategy with torque compensation, called the PFC+MOO method, is presented. The validity of the proposed method was tested via simulation and experiments. Excellent results were obtained with respect to the speed trajectory tracking, stability, and disturbance rejection.

This paper presents an effective method of precise velocity control at low speed with a low resolution encoder. Multirate observer to estimate the velocity at every DSP control period is used except a constant velocity mode. The observer corrects the estimation error when detects pulse signal. Unlike the conventional methods, the multirate estimator is stable at a low speed. However, the multirate estimator shows ripples at a constant velocity. Thus, in this paper we use a velocity prediction method which uses the present velocity from the previous average velocity to reject the ripple. In a summary, at a constant speed mode, the predicted velocity is used. Otherwise, the estimated velocity by the multirate obvserver is used. The effectiveness of the multirate observer and ripple rejection at low speed is verified through various simulations.

In this paper, the robust vector control method of Induction Motor for the purpose of improving the system performance deterioration caused by parameter variations is proposed. The full order state observer estimates the stator current and the rotor flux by using the state prediction of state variables. And, the motor speed is estimated without speed sensor using the full order state observer. Also, the parameter variation is compensate by the Sliding Observer. By using this method, speed sensorless control and current contol with no affection of the parameter variation can be obtained simultaneously.

This paper deals with a novel full digital control method of the three-phase PWM inverter for UPS. The voltage and current of output filter capacitor as state variables are the feedback control input. In addition, a double deadbeat control consisting of a d-q current minor loop and a d-q voltage major loop, both with precise decoupling, have been developed. The switching pulse width modulation based on SVM is adopted so that the capacitor current should be exactly equal to its reference current. In order to compensate the calculation time delay, the predictive control is achieved by the current·voltage observer. The load prediction is used to compensate the load disturbance by disturbance observer with deadbeat response. The experimental results show that the proposed system offers an output voltage with THD less than 2% at a full nonlinear load.

Design and analysis of disturbance observer-based deadbeat control fur single-phase inverter applications are comprehensively presented in this paper. Load current can be estimated by disturbance observer, which is basically structured with the first order equation in this case and is regarded as a relatively simple method in comparison with conventional full-order Luenberger observer. Also, an inherent one-step delay problem appeared in the deadbeat control method is overcome by a simple prediction technique proposed. Output voltage dip is reduced by the feedforward control with the change rate of the estimated load current involved in the deadbeat current control loop. The proposed algorithms are verified by the respective simulation and experiment results.
A discrete controller is designed for low power dc-dc switched mode power supplies. The approach is based on time domain and the control loop continuously and concurrently tunes the compensator parameters to meet the converter specifications. A digital state feedback control combined with the load estimator provides a complete compensation, which further improves the dynamic performance of the closed loop system. Simulation of digitally controlled Buck converter is performed with MATLAB/Simulink. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the controller using LabVIEW with a data acquisition card (model DAQ Pad - 6009).

Ball screw drives are widely used in industry, and many studies have been devoted on precise, fast and robust control of ball screw drives. In this study, a novel position control algorithm for ball screw drives is proposed, which consist of a PD controller, a friction feedforward and a disturbance observer. The dynamics and the position error of such controller are analyzed to establish an error model, which can be used to predict the resulting position error of the given desired trajectory. Using the proposed error model, the desired trajectory can be modified so that the predicted position error can be compensated in a feedforward manner. The proposed algorithm does not require the model of the system for the error prediction, and thus can be easily applied to conventional control systems. The performance of the system is verified through simulations and experiments.

This paper proposes an EMPC (Explicit Model Predictive Controller) for temperature tracking control based on heat load prediction by an ESO (Extended State Observer) for a variable cooling circulation system with multiple indoor units connected to one outdoor unit. In this system, heat transfer and heat loss relative to the input temperature are modeled using system dynamics. Using this model, we design an EMPC based on an ESO that is robust to temperature changes and depends on airflow. To determine the stability of both the controller and the observer, asymptotic stability is verified through Lyapunov stability analysis. Finally, to validate the performance of the proposed controller, simulations are conducted under three scenarios with varying airflow, set temperature, and heat load.
Three-level NPC inverters have been put into practical use for years especially in high voltage high power grids. This paper researches three-level active power filters (APFs). In this paper a mathematical model in the d-q coordinates is presented for 3-phase 3-wire NPC APFs. The deadbeat control scheme is obtained by using state equations. Canceling the delay of one sampling period and providing the predictive value of the harmonic current is a key problem of the deadbeat control. Based on this deadbeat control, the predictive output current value is obtained by the state observer. The delay of one sampling period is remedied in this digital control system by the state observer. The predictive harmonic command current value is obtained by the repetitive predictor synchronously. The repetitive predictor can achieve a better prediction of the harmonic current with the same sampling frequency, thus improving the overall performance of the system. The experiment results indicate that the steady-state accuracy and the dynamic response are both satisfying when the proposed control scheme is implemented.

In this paper, a new simple control method for active power filter which can realized the complete compensation of the harmonic currents is proposed. In the proposed scheme, a compensating current reference generator employing resonance model implemented by a DSP(Digital Signal Processor) is introduced. Deadbeat control is employed to control the active power filter. The switching pulse width based SVM(Space Vector Modulation) is adopted so that the current of active power filter is been exactly equal to its reference at the next sampling instant. To compensate the computation delay of digital controller, the prediction of current is achieved by the current observer with deadbeat response.
