  • A model selection approach is used to find out whether the mean and the variance of a unique sample are different from the pre-specified values. Normal distribution is selected as an approximating model. Kullback-Leibler discrepancy comes out as a natural measure of discrepancy between the operating model and the approximating model. Several estimates of selection criterion are computed including AIC, TIC, and a coupleof bootstrap estimator of the selection criterion are considered according to the way of resampling. It is shown that a closed form expression is available for the parametric bootstrap estimated cirterion. A Monte Carlo study is provided to give a formal comparison when the operating family itself is normally distributed.

  • This paper empirically establishes the role played by the ecosystem related parameters in the emergence and growth of high technology start-up clusters in India. It is mainly based on secondary data from six major start-up hubs in India during the period 2005-2013. Our results throw up several interesting findings. First of all, we find that traditional infrastructure related factors or robust macroeconomic situation in general are not the most important drivers. What really seem to matter are the specific start-up ecosystem related factors - such as the Internet penetration, volume of deal flow, availability of VC funding and a pre-existing critical mass of relevant high technology businesses and skill-sets. Above all, our study points out that high economic growth alone will not automatically lead to spillovers in the form of a vibrant start-up ecosystem. Rather it has to be a product of conscious and concerted policy efforts at all levels that directly address the main challenges faced by the early-stage start-ups.

  • Multimedia database system can be improve data transferring efficiency by consulting catalogue database which is storing the object and serving multimedia meta-database and perform the pre-scheduling for data transferring and by delaying of transferring to reduce the responding timeand reordering the data by various method of transferring. By Introducing these techniques we can enhance the server resources utilizing, minimizing the users responding time and can decrease failure at the scheduling itself and easily search and transfer the information that the user wanted. Like this, the importance of multimedia information treating skill and efficient management are widely recognized and expected lots of research and development to form a butter efficient multimedia database syst

  • Truck dispatching is one of the most commonly occurring problems of transprot management. We developed an interactive decision support system named IDSSTD, for the truck dispatching problem where two conflicting objectives are treated and travel speed varies depending on the passing areas and time of day. The IDSSTD aids the decision-making process by allowing the user to interact directly with the database, to direct data to a decision model, and to portray results in a convenient form. The IDSSTD is consisted of two major interactive phases. The pre-scheduling interactive phase is to reduce the complexity of a given problem before applying the BC-saving heuristic algorithm and the post-scheduling interactive phase is to improve practically the algorithmic solution. The IDSSTD has the capabilities of its own manipulation(analysis and recommendation) and diverse graphic features in order to facilitate a user's interaction.

  • Substructuring methods are usually used in finite element structural analyses. In this study a multi-level substructuring algorithm is developed and proposed as a possible candidate for incompressible fluid solves. Finite element formulation for incompressible flow has been stabilized by a modified residual procedure proposed by Ilinca et.al.[5]. The present algorithm consists of four stages such as a gathering stage, a condensing stage, a solving stage and a scattering stage. At each level, a predetermined number of elements are gathered and condensed to form an element of higher level. At highest level, each subdomain consists of only one super-element. Thus, the inversion process of a stiffness matrix associated with internal degrees of freedom of each subdomain has been replaced by a sequential static condensation. The global algebraic system arising feom the assembly of each subdomains is solved using Conjugate Gradient Squared(CGS) method. In this case, pre-conditioning techniques usually accompanied by iterative solvers are not needed.

  • This paper presents the result of a technique to enhance TDAC in the AC-3 algorithm. To reduce block boundary noise without decreasing the performance of transform coding, We propose new special windows which improve the defect of the AC-3 algorithm that could not properly cancel aliasing in the transient period. In addition, a fast MDCT calculation algorithm based on a fast Fourier transform, is adopted.

  • Distribution of the naturalized plants in Korea was studied, based on the references reported by many authors from 1895 to 1980 and on the data obtained by survey of the present authors on 200 localities, 170 overpopulated areas and 30 islands in various size, in South Korea. We could describe 110 species in 27 families, including the pre-1945 records in North Korea. In this paper 14 naturalized species were newly described. Naturalized plants were characterized by dominated annual and hemigeophytes, 75.5% and 17.3%, respectively, in Raunkiaer's life form spectrum. The authors proposed two indices, i.e., Relative Naturalized Degree (RND) and Urbanization Index (UI). Increasing UI values or numbers of the naturalized plants in various localities were showed the correlation to the urbanized degree or population size in their localities.

  • This paper reports a newly developed sol-gel process to synthesize dense YBCO thick films with BaTiO$_3$additives using electrophoretic deposition and metal alkoxide sol/particle suspension, which we successfully produce dense $YBCO+BaTiO_3$ ceramics at a rather low temperature, compared with the sintering temperature used in conventional methods. The thick films of HTS were prepared by electrophoretic deposition, using pre-sintered powder with barium titanate addition in the form of $BaTi(OR)_6$ solution in suspension for electrophoresis. The conditions for applied voltage and deposition times for electrophoretic deposition of HTS thick films were studied in detail.

  • E. histolytica has a simple life cycle with two stages: an infective cyst and an invasive trophozoite. It lives on humans as its host. Its infection occurs through the ingestion of the cyst form, and the disease begins when the trophozoite, converted at the small intestine, adheres to colonic epithelial cells with a latent period of two days to four months. In some instances, amoebic abscess formations can occur at the liver, lung, brain, or spleen via the lymphoid system. Rare cases of amoebiasis in neonates have been reported, much less any intrauterine infections in the world that may have occurred during the gestation period. We've recently experienced a case of neonatal amoebiasis that entailed after-birth vomiting and bloody stool. The infant seemed pre-infected with E. histolytica before birth.

  • An optimized bidet nozzle design to form the required swirl water jet is proposed with the help of numerical analysis. The bidet can do the cleaning process of human body by water injection and the speed/pressure/injection angle/magnitude of swirl intensity of water jet determine the cleaning capability and personal subjective feeling. The objective of this research is to design optimal water injection nozzle to make stable swirl intensity. The effect of individual design variables are analyzed from the basic design and the final design is deduced to make high performance water jet within the pre-determined operation conditions.
