  • Scientists planning research that involves the use of animals are required to examine the possibilities for replacement, reduction, or refinement (the Three Rs), and their protocol must be reviewed by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. Good scientific practice involving appropriate search techniques on the available Three Rs resources is essential for both ethical and scientific reasons. Appropriate experimental design and statistical analysis techniques are particularly necessary for research involving the use of animals, because this can improve animal welfare and scientific outcomes, as well as saving animal lives. There are a number of resources to help researchers improve their search techniques, experimental design strategies, and their reporting of research involving the use of animals. However, there is little specific information or resources on the Three Rs alternatives that is readily available in the Korean language. This paper outlines the common errors made by submitting researchers that have been repeatedly observed during the ethical review of experimental protocols over the last ten years, and provides information on the Korean resources available to promote good scientific practice. This could help to bridge the gap between Korean scientists and animal welfare advocates assisting scientists to improve ethical considerations and conduct responsible research.

Methods: 16 early childhood teachers in charge of 3-5 year olds conducted statement writing, and then the importance of selected statements were rated by 160 early childhood teachers in charge of 3-5 year olds. Selected statements were analyzed through multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis. Results: Early childhood teachers perceived teacher competency for ESD in early childhood as concept mapping with two-dimensions and six clusters. The following six clusters were established (1) ethics for sustainable development, (2) willingness to participate in ESD, (3) development and operation of a sustainable development curriculum, (4) recognition and practice of environmental issues, (5) realization of value for sustainable development, and (6) practical thinking for ESD. And then among the six clusters, the most important cluster was recognized as 'ethics for sustainable development', and among the statements 'having an open mind to understand multiculturalism and the disabled' was considered relatively important Conclusion/Implications: Based on these results, we discussed the importance of teacher competency for ESD in early childhood, development of teacher competency scale, and preparation of a teacher education plans for each competency.

  • Korea shifted the focus to competency-based curriculums in the revised national curriculum of 2015, and emphasized training creative convergence talents through informatics education. The informatics education curriculum included information culture literacy as a core competence so that the learners can gain knowledge of information technology-based information ethics and make ethical judgment and practice ethics. This study analyzed the elements related to information culture literacy in the informatics curriculums of the US, the UK, India, Japan, Australia and Germany for the purpose of providing implications with regard to the composition of elements that can foster information culture literacy. According to the analysis results, first, the term information culture literacy was included only in the informatics education curriculum of Korea. Second, the elements common to all countries are (personal) information protection, information security and copyright. Third, Korea's information society and career, India's avoidance of injuries, Germany's protection of health and environment were found only in the curriculums of respective countries. This study is significant in that it provided the orientation of improving the elements for fostering information culture literacy based on the results of analyzing overseas informatics curriculums.

To this end, we collected survey data from 25 undergraduate students who were enrolled in a teacher education college in Seoul. The purpose of the survey was to measure the importance and current performance for instructional AI use based on the technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) framework, and to explore the priority of educational needs using Borich's needs analysis and the Locus for Focus model. The results of the study confirmed that Ethics and TPK competencies are prioritized. Additionally, the results indicated a high demand for practical knowledge that can be implemented in the practice of education. Based on the results, it is necessary to develop a teacher education program that focuses on ethical aspects and teaching strategy competencies in AI-based education.

  • In this study, the Korean alternative school teachers' perceptions of ecocentric environmental education were surveyed. A total of 80 teachers from 42 alternative schools across the nation answered to the survey. The results were as follows. Teachers were found to have a lot of interest in environmental issues and to practice some environmental actions inside and outside school. Over sixty percent teachers agreed with the ecocentric philosophy of environmental education. The most two important issues among 11 environmental education contents for teachers were "natural environment" and "environmental ethics". Teachers used and preferred "field work" for teaching environmental issues, and got teaching materials mostly from the internet. However, many of them were not satisfied with environmental activity in their schools because of their lack of professionalism. They had not enough experience of professional development for environmental education, and strongly wanted to learn about field work.

  • This study proposed the information security integrated learning model-based KASP. By analyzing the teaching materials regarding information security in the regular curriculum, and by investigating preliminary studies, the information security contents were examined in terms of knowledge, attitudes, skills and ways to practice(KASP). And, the KASP-information security learning model integrating knowledge, attitudes, and ways to practice was developed, and the teaching plan and learning material hand-out were accordingly made out. Moreover, the developed model was tested in an experimental group, and common information security learning content centered on ethics in the comparison group in order to compare the results of two groups. As the test result analysis, it was verified that the developed KASP-information security integrated learning model was effective to help the students learn the knowledge, attitudes, skills and ways to practice.
