  • The purpose of this study is to analyze nursing students' proficiency with ST(Systems Thinking) approach concerning asthma patient nursing process. For this study, 20 nursing students created causality cognitive maps which were consisted of the contents of 'asthma nursing care'. The word association and causality cognitive map were used to estimate ability of the ST. As a result, the students failed to understand the nursing process with the ST approach, or alternatively they applied low level ST approach and had a lower understanding of it. The findings of this study suggest that the development of a ST-based nursing educational program in order for nursing students to improve their ST ability as well as knowledge integration for multidisciplinary practice.

  • In order to manufacture high quality goods, the engineers who will design them has to have board technical experience as well as profound engineering knowledge. The engineers also be able to design and manufacture well development goods base on new advanced technology. Design process can be defined as transforming activity raw material into finished producted for human needs. The wealth of nation depend on its ability to retrieve natural resources and manufacture goods. Its ability, creation of goods, is most fundamental component of economic wealth of rich country. The rich countries have combine their own design knowledge with computer technology and create new effective design process. In this paper, one of the useful and practice design process created for railway industry is introduced. Base on the concept of this design process, the automatic wheelchair lifter design for railway vehicle is performed.

  • Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) is an invasive technique used during the surgical management of medically refractory epilepsy. The utility of SEEG rests in its ability to survey the three-dimensional organization of the epileptogenic zone as well as nearby eloquent cortices. Once concentrated to specialized centers in Europe and Canada, the SEEG methodology has gained worldwide popularity due to its favorable morbidity profile, superior coverage of deep structures, and ability to perform multi-lobar explorations without the need for craniotomy. This rapid shift in practice represents both a challenge and an opportunity for pediatric neurosurgeons familiar with the subdural grid approach. The purpose of this review is to discuss the indications, technique, and safety of long-term SEEG monitoring in children. In addition to reviewing the conceptual and technical points of the diagnostic evaluation, attention will also be given to SEEG-based interventions (e.g., radiofrequency thermo-coagulation).

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of dynamic postural balance control against tilting platform between golfers and non-golfers. Method: 24 golfers and 26 non-golfers were participated. Eight motion capture cameras, two force plates, and one dynamic balance control platform were used for sensory perception test. It was performed two-way repeated ANOVA with a Bonferroni adjustment at a significant level of a 0.05. Results: Golfers' perception ability was higher than non-golfer according to slope. the CoP, time, angle variables were indicated main effect and interaction effect between golfer and non-golfer. Conclusion: It was known that golfer's proprioception perception ability was higher than non-golfers. Repeated practice such as shots and putting on the uneven ground might improve their balance control.

  • Speaking skill is an important quality in expressing oneself in school life. Quite a few students experience difficulties at school because of the lack of adequate speaking ability. In order to help them, a Web-based speaking enhancement system is designed and developed using computers equipped with multimedia devices with which students can practice speaking while they are observing graphical representation of voices, which is to cause interest and voluntary participation in the learning activity. The learning system was tested on a group of 44 students of 4th grade in an elementary school. The students were divided into three smaller groups in terms of speaking ability. The experiment shows the effectiveness of the system in building speaking ability.

  • This study examined how a Structured Reading Framework (SRF) is related to improving students' critical thinking ability in an argument-based inquiry approach, called the Science Writing Heuristic (SWH) approach. A total of 75 $8^{th}$ graders participated in the study, with 34 in the control group and 41 in the treatment group. The gains in critical thinking skills were compared between two groups, and relationships among the components of the reading framework and the critical thinking skills were explored at the group level. Result indicates that the treatment group who used the SRF had larger gains in critical thinking scores than control group who used the Original Reading Framework (ORF). In addition, results show that the correlations between Reading Framework (RF) components and critical thinking scores are statistically significant in the treatment group, while no correlations exist in the control group. It appears that using the SRF have an impact on developing students' critical thinking ability by providing a scaffold to assist argumentation practice.

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the relationship between critical thinking disposition and problem solving ability in nursing students, thereby providing basic data for nursing education. Method: A convenience sample was drawn from 161 nursing students. Data were collected from June 2008 to October 2008. Instruments used in the study were the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI) developed by Facione & Facione (1992) and the Problem Solving Inventory (PSI) developed by Heppner & Petersen (1982). The collected data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe' test, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with SPSS 12.0. Results: The total mean score for CCTDI was 278.41 and PSI was 119.23. For general characteristics, there were statistically significant differences in CCTDI according to satisfaction with nursing majors (F=6.29, p=.00) and PSI according to academic achievement (F=3.45, p=.02) and marital status (t=2.43, p=.02). A statistically significant negative correlation was found between CCTDI and PSI. Critical thinking self-confidence, Analyticity and Inquisitiveness were significant predictors of PSI. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that critical thinking disposition influences problem solving ability. Therefore, the findings provide significant basic data for nursing education and nursing practice.

  • Purpose: This study was to develop PBL packages geared toward fostering the problem-solving ability, self-directed learning capability and communicative competence of emergency medical technician students and to give some suggestions on the development of PBL packages of the approach based on the evaluation results of the packages by experts. Methods: First, real clinical situations that learners would be exposed to after graduation should be provided as examples when the packages are developed. Second, a variety of learning-facilitating tools should be offered to facilitate their understanding, because they don't yet gain plenty of clinical practice experiences. Third, they should be encouraged to have an energetic discussion in small group when the developed packages are applied. Conclusion: First, the packages developed in this study were just incorporated into some areas of a single course. In the future, the integration of an entire course or the development of a new course is required to attain the multiple learning objectives in the provided clinical situations. Second, this study attempted to develop the PBL packages to boost the problem-solving ability, self-directed learning capability and communicative competence of emergency medical technician students, and follow-up research should be implemented to finalize the packages based on the suggestions of the experts who evaluated them and to determine the effects of the packages.
