  • This paper proposes a new measurement method for the effective measurement of the 99% occupied bandwidth (OBW) at monitoring stations. Although the OBW measurement of radio signal is recommended by the International Telecommunication Union Radio (ITU-R) with several methods, there still does not exist a clear measurement recommendation or standard for terrestrial DTV signal on-air environment. Modified adjacent channel power ratio (MACPR), which can be applied to 8-VSB (Vestigial Side Band) DTV (Digital Television) signal, is herein defined to verify the results of measurements obtained using the proposed measurement method. MACPR is a proper measuring parameter for determining the measuring area of a monitoring station. From measurement results obtained in real field environment, it has been found that the OBW of 8-VSB DTV signal can be effectively measured in areas where the MACPR value is over 35 dB and when the measurements are repeated more than 600 times in the same reception site. It also has been verified that measured results are within an error range of +/-0.1% compared to results directly obtained at a transmission station. It is expected that the proposed method is able to be employed in order to determine the proper location of monitoring station and provide a reliable OBW measurement procedure for 8-VSB DTV signal on-air environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to development of the green information technology practical method and verify the impact of classes which applied green information technology practical method on the students' practice on green information technology to enhance the study related to green growth education for Technology Home Economics Education. In order to achieve the purpose, first, the green information technology practical method and measurement instrument were developed. Second, green information technology practical method applied in class. Third, D middle school students(male 62, female 59) in Daejeon city were tested by green information technology practical method measurement instrument and the comparison between pretest and posttest results were made. There were three results conduced from this study. First, green information technology practical method had positive impact on the students' green information technology practice on the items which they directly face in their daily lives, such as computers, monitors, and data. Through this point, when green growth curriculum developed in Technology Home Economics, we must consider the more closely related in lives contents. Second, green information technology practical method not impact on the practice on the items such as printers, peripherals, and other items. But in the future we expect more students hold printers and peripherals so the study for these items needed the more. Third, there were no gender differences in green information technology practice. Through this point, when green growth curriculum organized, there was no needed to separete students' gender.

  • Fabric hand is ultimately a subjective response to physical stimuli, but there are clearly practical advantage in the development and commercial trading of textile fabrics to be gained from the replacement of the traditional subjective tactile assessment by an objective measurement evaluation method. Moreover, the reliable objective measurement method for warp knitted fabrics have not developed yet, despite their increasing importance. (omitted)

  • For the purpose of monitoring by ultrasonic test of the ball bearing conditions in rotating machinery, a system for their diagnosis was developed. ultrasonic technique is used to detect abnormal conditions in the bearing system. And various data such as frequency spectrum, energy and amplitude of ultrasonic signals, and ultrasonic parameters were acquired during experiments with the simulated ball bearing system. Based on the above results and practical application for power plant, algorithms and judgement criteria for diagnosis system was established.

  • A computer aided flatness calibration system has been developed. Rectangular grids based measurement procedure is proposed with closing error technique. giving advantages over conventional diagonal measurement procedures (‘Union Jack’). A new analysis technique has been developed for flatness evaluation called ‘ETT(Enclose Tilt technique)’, enabling minimum separation definition which is acknowledged as standard term for flatness definition. Practical assessment shows the performance of the developed system.

  • A comprehensive computer software has been implemented in conjunction with the software for volumetric error generator, to assess simulation on specific measurement tasks. The simulation algorithms have been developed for major measurement tasks, such as step gauge, ring gauge, sphere gauge, and cylinder gauge simulations etc. Verification and practical applications of the developed module have shown its efficiency and validity.

  • This paper presents circuit modeling and characterization of silicon-based on-chip integrated inductors in Giga Hertz range for wireless communication products. We compare several different designs of on-chip inductors for self-resonant frequency and quality factor. The measurement data could be used as a design guide for manufacturing practical spiral inductors for wireless applications. We provide the equivalent inductor circuit parameters from the actual measurement data.

  • In this paper, we analyze the errors associated with electric field interference for fiber-optic voltage sensors working in a three-phase electric system. For many practical conductor arrangements, the electric filed interference may cause errors unacceptable for the accuracy requirements of the sensors. We devised a real time compensation method for the interference by introducing geometric and weight factors. We realized the method using simple electronic circuits and obtained the real time compensated outputs with errors of 1 %.

  • For noise and vibration order-analysis on rotating machinery, it is compulsory to measure the RPM of the rotating part of the machine. Normally the RPM is measured using dedicated tacho-probes. In this paper we describe a new method that in real-time synthesizes a tacho signal from the measured noise or vibration signal thus eliminating the tacho probe. The method strengths and weaknesses are evaluated on practical signals.
