The determinants of the public's nuclear power acceptance have received considerable attention as decisive factors regarding nuclear power policy. However, the contingency of the relative importance of different determinants has been less explored. Building on the literature of psychological distance between the individual and the object, the present study demonstrates that the relative effects of different types of perceived risks regarding nuclear power generation differ across acceptance targets. Using a sample of Korea, our results show that, regarding national acceptance of nuclear power generation, perceived risk from nuclear power plants exerts a stronger negative effect than that from radioactive waste management; however, the latter exerts a stronger negative effect than the former on local acceptance of a nuclear power plant. This finding provides implications for efficient public communication strategy to raise nuclear power acceptance.
The main purpose of this study is to examine whether power-of-speech have an impact on persuasion in radio CM and to determine what is stronger variable either power-of-speech or sex of source. Previous research showed confused result about this issue. Some research supposed the effect of power-of-speech depend on sex of source/Carli, 1990) but the others supposed it is not(Holtgraves & Lasky, 1999; Erickson, Lind, Johnson, & O'Barr, 1978). So present research is designed to show empirical evidence about this issue examining the interaction between effect of power-of-speech and sex of source. Result revealed that power-of-speech affects strongly on persuasion and that effect have no interaction with sex of source. This result means that the effect of power-of-speech is stronger than the effect of sex of source. But in attitude toward product exceptionally, female source using powerful speech induce more favorable attitude toward product than female source using powerless speech whereas male source using powerful and powerless speech induce same attitude toward product.
TCSC is a FACTS device that can control the active power flow and current of transmission lines by adjusting line impedances. In this paper, we study the effect of TCSC on power transfer capability. A static model of TCSC is implemented in the continuation power-flow(CPF) Program and the power transfer capability is measured using the CPF. The site of TCSC is selected to increase power transfer capability by the sensitivity information provided from the CPF. The effect of TCSC with various control mode is tested in IEEE New England 30-bus system.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of risk perception and opportunistic behavior on project performance and the moderating effect of cooperation in this relationship through literature review to identify factors affecting the performance of large-scale nuclear power plant construction projects. Methods: This study conducted a survey on nuclear power plant construction project participants and verified the hypothesis using statistical methods. Results: The results of this study are as follows; First, risk perception appeared to have a positive effect on opportunistic behavior, and it was confirmed that opportunistic behavior among participating companies could occur even in nuclear power plant construction projects. Second, it has been proven that risk perception has a negative effect on project performance as suggested in previous studies. Third, in the relationship between opportunistic behavior and project performance, it was found that opportunistic behavior had a negative effect on project performance. Finally, cooperation was found to have a moderating effect on the relationship between performance risk and project performance. Conclusion: This study is a case of empirical analysis targeting nuclear power plant construction project workers, and provided a basis for reference in future related academic research and project implementation.

This study tried to examine how interdependence, communication, and the exercise of power in cosmetics distribution channel would affect satisfaction. In this study we investigated the effects of their communication and the exercise of noncoercive power of department store (or mart). We conducted with managers of the shops which were entered to department store (or mart). 131 copies were collected and 119 copies were used for analysis after the exclusion of 12 copies. Brand image and sales policy influenced satisfaction, but customers were not statistically significant. In addition, communication in distribution path had the moderating effect on the relationship between interdependence and satisfaction, and on the relationship between interdependence and noncoercive power. Sales policy and brand image in the relationship between department store(or mart) and the shops opened inside are critical factors for satisfaction, but customers are highly likely to become a factor with different meaning.

In this work, synergistic corrosion inhibition effect of nitrite and 3 kinds of ethanolamines on ductile cast iron using chemical and electrochemical methods was evaluated. This work attempts to clarify the synergistic effect of nitrite and ethanolamines. The effects of single addition of TEA, DEA, and MEA, and mixed addition of nitrite plus TEA, DEA or MEA on the corrosion inhibition of ductile cast iron in a tap water were evaluated. A huge amount of single addition of ethanolamine was needed. However, the synergistic effect by mixed addition was observed regardless of the combination of nitrite and triethanolamines, but their effects increased in a series of MEA + nitrite > DEA + nitrite > TEA + nitrite. This tendency of synergistic effect was attributed to the film properties and polar effect; TEA addition couldn't form the film showing high film resistance and semiconductive properties, but DEA or MEA could build the film having relatively high film resistance and n-type semiconductive properties. Moreover, it can be explained that this behaviour was closely related to electron attractive group within the ethanolamines, and thus corrosion inhibition power depends upon the number of the electron attractive group of MEA, DEA, and TEA.

Among the main functions of the grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system, the anti-islanding operation function is a very important problem. Recently, due to the improvement in power generation efficiency and the maintenance advantages in PV system, the use of string inverter has increased so that the possibility of islanding operation has been raised. Generally, when a power system faults, the PV inverter must be disconnected from power system within 10 cycles by the anti-islanding operation function. However, in the real-time of power system, the output power of the PV system within 10cycles is effected. In this paper, we analyzed the effect of grid-connected PV system on power quality in a short time within 10 cycles on fault case of power system using the Matlab Simulink program.
Based on current evidence in the literature, it is known that endotoxin is a weakly adherent surface phenomenon and that power-driven instruments can be used to accomplish definitive root detoxification and maximal wound healing without overinstrumentation of root and without extensive cementum removal. And one of the newly developed curette tips used with low power of piezoelectric ultrasonic scaler, is effective to remove calculus and not to remove the excessive cementum. The purpose of this study is therefore, to assess the influence of ultrasonic power and various working parameters on root substitute removal when instrumentation is performed with the curette tip on piezoelectric ultrasonic scaler. This study assessed defect depth, width and area resulting from instrumentation using a piezoelectric ultrasonic scaler with a curette type tip in vitro to acrylic resin block as a root substitute. The working parameters was standardized by the sledge device which controls lateral force(0.5 N, 1 N, 2 N) and instrumentation time(5 sec, 10 sec, 20 sec) and power setting was adjusted 0,2,4,8 in P mode. Power setting had the greatest influence on defect depth compared to lateral force and instrumentation time(standardized regression parameter estimates${\pm}$standard error, $0.37{\pm}0.02$, $0.19{\pm}0.02$, $0.07{\pm}0.02$). The effects on defect area also greatest for power setting($0.57{\pm}0.03$) compared to lateral force and instrumentation time($0.33{\pm}0.03$, $0.12{\pm}0.03$). The effect of the power setting on the defect width($0.15{\pm}0.01$) is not so great as defect depth or defect area compared to lateral force($0.12{\pm}0.01$) and effect of instrumentation time is minimal($0.02{\pm}0.01$). It could be concluded that the power setting has the greatest influence on the defect depth and area in curette type tip with low power of piezoelectric ultrasonic device. Many parameters can be adjusted in various situation in clinical use of piezoelectric ultrasonic scaler but the power setting is the first parameter to be adjusted.
We investigate theoretically the combined effect of fiber chromatic dispersion and self-phase modulation (SPM) on multi-channel subcarrier multiplexed (SCM) optical transmission systems in terms of the detected RF carrier power and SPM-induced power gain after transmission over single-mode fiber (SMF) links. According to the calculated power gain due to the SPM effect at the transmission distance of P3dB using the detected radio-frequency (RF) carrier power after photo-detection, the power gain is significantly degraded with large optical modulation index (OMI), small SCM channel spacing, and large fiber launching power because of the increased interaction between subcarrier channels. The nonlinear phase shift due to linear and nonlinear fiber characteristics is investigated to explain these results in detail. The numerical simulation results show that the OMI per SCM channel has to be smaller than 10 % for the fiber launching power of 10 dBm to guarantee prevention of SPM-induced power gain degradation below 0.5 dB for the SCM system with the channel spacing of 100 MHz. This result is expected to be utilized for the optical transmission systems using the SCM technology in future radio-over-fiber (RoF) networks.
