Multi-Body Dynamic Response Analysis of a MW-Class Wind Turbine System Considering Rotating and Flexibility (로터 회전 및 타워의 탄성력을 고려한 MW 급 풍력발전기의 비선형 다물체 동적 응답 해석)

  • In this study, computer applied engineering (CAE) techniques are fully used to conduct structural and dynamic analyses of a whole huge wind turbine system including composite blades, tower and nacelle. For this study, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is used to predict aerodynamic loads of the rotating wind-turbine blade model. Multi-body dynamic structural analyses are conducted based on the non-linear finite element method (FEM) by using super-element method for composite laminates blade. Three-dimensional finite element model of a wind turbine system is constructed including power train(main shaft, gear box, coupling, generator), bedplate and tower. The results for multi-body dynamic simulations on the wind turbine's critical operating conditions are presented in detail.

  • The railroad is a means of large transportation which has many latents such as a safety and a regularity. That is a results from various confidential performance tests and evaluations of the system. The railroad system consist of various subsystems - vehicle, power supply, signal, communications, track structures, operations, etc. Among them, as an item of safety evaluation there is a measurement of wheel/rail force, so called a measurement of derailment coefficient. This is a very important item because a derailment of a train will bring about a big accident. Especially it is more important in high speed rail of which operation speed is over two times as fast as existing rail. In this paper, it is introduced to preprocess the wheelset for measuring wheel/rail force of high speed rail, such as to treat a measuring wheelset, its finite element analysis, adhesion of strain gauges and static toad test, running test result of main line.

  • The comfort and quietness of vehicle has been improved greatly due to the development of technology in automobile industry. Some of noise reductions, for example, are driven by the improvement in the power-train system. Due to better in all performance, it is required to reduce more noise in automobile components. One of them is related to the fuel pump system including a pump and a tank. Therefore, this study is focused on investigating the characteristics of fuel pump and fuel tank first, and then comparing the data before and after installation of fuel pump system in a testing vehicle. Additionally, the measured data will be analyzed to identify the problems and provide knowledge to reduce the level of noise and vibration in fuel pump system.

  • Contact lines are necessary to supply electric locomotives with electric power. As most railways are gradually electrified with modernized electric cars, the demand for catenary wires and their facilities are also increased. Catenary wires made by metallic materials are generally used in the open air. They are exposed to the marine area with air-borne salt or severely polluted industrial area with much corrosive emission gases depending on the railway locations. In urban area, acid rain may cause a degradation of catenary wire system. Corrosion of catenary wires can make their actual lifetime shorter than that originally designed. Thus, the messenger wires, a kind of catenary wire system, were investigated with respect to corrosion, which include new and the used one collected at the field. They are also vibrated with some amplitude everytime the train passes through the railway. The frequent cyclic load on the wire any result in a fatigue damage, Surface damage by corrosion can make fatigue crack initiate with ease. In the present study, the fatigue life of the used wire was measured 40 to 50% shorter than that of new one in average.

  • The TBO of main unit of propulsion control devices on high-speed railway vehicles proposed by the makers is appropriated 10 years cycle, but the maintenance of internal device are proceeding before coming to the particular period of time. In the Future, increasing of the failure probability occurred by increasing train service and obtaining spare parts are predicted that it would be difficult. the propulsion control devices develop is needed in other to the ease maintenance, cost savings and ensuring related domestic technologies when considering operating on long term of high-speed railway vehicles. In this paper, we proposed development a way that current-controlled type propulsion control devices using the newest power semiconductors which is easy to supply and demand through identifying performance and characteristics of existing current-controlled type propulsion control devices of high-speed railway vehicles.

  • MCU(Micro Controller Unit) used for the automobiles has been required for improving of the safety and high reliability. Also, the necessity of high performance MCU equipped with high fuel-efficiency has been risen according to increased requests of high fuel-efficiency and improving the occupants safety with the development of intelligent vehicles and future vehicles. The MPC5554 32-bit embedded controller, made by Freescale Semiconductor, specialized in the part of the power train provides the high reliability, fast interrupt process and real-time control. In This paper, the investigation on IPMSM using MPC5554 has been performed. Also SVPWM(Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation) is implemented to the servo system.

  • This paper is about control algorithms that bi-direction DC-DC Converter using Super Capacitor and regenerative power from DC feeding system in train.   • The broadcasting system for the customer safety and conveniency is one of the important convenience facilities taking charge of customer guidance, emergency situation broadcasts for the people waiting at the platform, waiting lounge and train approaching broadcasts. To maintain this broadcasting facility local management control system(LMC) is needed. LMC observes operation status of the facility components which is set up at station and the observation results are confirmed through out remote management PC installed in the jurisdiction branch office. The staff only observes and confirms the errors of the electrical power source at broadcasting facility components accordingly the real mechanical troubles are detected by on-the-spot survey. this paper deals with existing broadcasting system only acting as a simple observation function and the research of LMC function extension which controls, monitors and tests broadcasting facility.

Economic Analysis for Standardization R&D of Urban Rail System (도시철도 표준화 연구개발사업의 경제성 분석)

  • This study is to estimate economic benefits of Standardization R&D of Urban Rail System. Benefit was to be realized through standardization of main areas such as train vehicle, railway, power system, and signal system. To derive and calculate the quantitative benefit, the sources of economic impact was divided into three dimensions -operational cost savings, import substitution, and safety effects. Economic effect of the standardization was categorized based on a modified BSC model. Economic benefits from time and labor savings are converted into cost savings. Import substitution and investment multiplier effect have a positive impact in addition to cost savings. The estimation of the standardization R&D of Urban Rail System was conservatively estimated 370 billion Won. Cost effectiveness of standardized safety system was conservatively translated into economic benefit in this analysis. This study provides a practical guide to economic evaluation of the various railway R&D projects.

  • In this paper, we propose structures and power spectral densities of UWB radar transmitters of Short Range Automobile. While the conventional transmitters did not consider interferences from self and other automobiles, the proposed method of this paper can minimize interferences. First, we compare a structure of the proposed method with pulse train and pulse compression method. Then, by using mathematical analysis and computer simulations, we show that the proposed method is superior to others. Also we can set proper parameters in UWB radar's transmitter through the numerical method of mathematical results.
