  • This paper shows the analysis of the inductive power transfer system in conjunction with series resonant converter operating variable high frequency. Of particular interest is the sensitivity of the complete system to variations in operational frequency and parameters. In inductive power transfer system, electrical power is transferred from a primary winding in the form of a coil or track, to one or more isolated pick-up coils that may relative to the primary. The ability to transmit power without contact enables high reliability and easy maintenance that allows inductive power transfer system to be implemented in hostile environments. This technology has found application in many fields such as electric vehicles, PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) etc. The coupling between the primary and secondary is then presented to include the effects of parameter and operational frequency variation.

단상/삼상 계통 전력 품질 평가를 위한 고조파 분석 알고리즘 개발 (The Algorithm Development on Harmonic Analysis for Estimating the Quality of 1-Phase/3-Phase Power System)

  • With the development of technology, a new class of smaller and more sensitive electrical systems have emerged, requiring higher quality power system. Improving the quality of the power system requires removing harmonics as much as possible to ensure better efficiency. We should first collect information on what harmonic frequencies are included in the current power system to remove the harmonics. In this paper, a new frequency analysis algorithm is introduced for a three-phase and a 1-phase power system. MTE PRS 600.3 is used to generate any harmonics to ensure that the algorithm performs well. Typing any harmonics on the Windows GUI program shows the analyzed result from the board developed for the algorithm.

  • We have needs to develop a performance analysis system that can be used in domestic nuclear power plants to determine performance status of turbine cycle. We developed new NOPAS system to aid performance analysis of turbine cycle . Procedures of performance calculation are improved using several adaptations from standard calculation algorithms based on ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) PTC (Performance Test Code). Robustness in the performance analysis is increased by verification & validation scheme for measured input data. The system also provides useful aids for performance analysis such as graphic heat balance of turbine cycle and components, turbine expansion lines, automatic generation of analysis reports.

Low Cost High Power Density Photovoltaic Power Conditioning System with an Energy Storage System

  • A new low cost high power density photovoltaic power conditioning system (PV PCS) with an energy storage system is proposed in this paper. Its high power density and cost effectiveness can be achieved through the unification of the maximum power point tracker and the battery charger/discharger. Despite the reduced power stage, the proposed system can achieve the same performance in terms of maximum power point tracking and battery charging/discharging as the conventional system. When a utility power failure happens, the proposed system cannot perform maximum power point tracking at the UPS mode. However, the predetermined battery voltage near the maximum power point of the PV array can effectively generate a reasonable PV power even at the UPS mode. Therefore, it features a simpler structure, less mass, lower cost, and fewer devices. Finally, to confirm the operation, validity, and features of the proposed system, a theoretical analysis and experimental results from a single phase AC 220Vrms/1.5kW prototype are presented.

  • 전기부하설비의 전압, 전류, 전력, 고조파 등의 분석을 위해서는 수학적 모델링 보다는 실제 계측을 통한 전력분석이 필요하고 이를 통해 전기설비의 효율적인 관리, 에너지 절약 및 사고 예방에 필요한 대책을 수립할 수 있다. 특히 비선형 부하에 의해 발생되는 고조파의 대책수립을 위해 계측을 통한 전력분석이 필수적이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 전기부하설비에 공급되는 전력을 측정하고 분석할 수 있는 저가형 데이터 획득 시스템을 DSP 기반으로 개발하였고 이를 실제 전력계통에 설치하여 전력 및 고조파의 측정과 분석을 수행함으로써 그 성능을 입증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 전력 품질 개선 및 전력 계통 신뢰도 향상을 위한 방안으로서 STATCOM 발전 시스템의 시스템 모델링 및 강인 안정성에 대한 연구를 수행하고자 한다. STATCOM은 복잡한 전력 계통을 안정화하고 공급전원을 일정하게 유지할 목적으로 제안된 기술이다. 기존의 전력 보상 장치에 비해 전력 제어 범위가 상당히 넓은 편이며, 시스템 구성요소가 비선형적 움직임을 보이고 있다. 또한, 외부 환경에 따른 파라미터 변동이 있기 때문에 시스템 제어를 위한 새로운 기법 마련이 필요하다. 이를 해결하기 위하여, 시스템을 퍼지 이론을 통해 접근하여 모델링을 수행하게 되며, 강인 안정도 해석을 통해 시스템의 불확실성 요소에 대한 대비를 하게 된다.

The major contents of this paper consist of the modeling of the PV power system for grid-connection, the analysis of the steady-state characteristics of the system, and the analysis of the transient-state characteristics of the system, respectively.

  • This paper investigates the harmonics of TCSC power transmission system having nonlinear VI characteristic loads. Nonlinear VI characteristic components are modelled with Nortons harmonic current sources. The system parameters such as line impedances admittances and node voltages and the thyristor switching action are described in complex Fourier series. EMTP simulation studies with a detailed three-phase TCSC power transmission system are also performed in order to verify the harmonic analysis at the steady state.

  • Power generation systems based on the oxy-coal combustion with carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) capability are being proposed and discussed lately. Although a large number of lab scale studies for oxy-coal power plant have been made, studies of pilot scale or commercial scale power plant are not enough. Only a few demonstration projects for oxy-coal power plant are publicized recently. The proposed systems are evolving and various alternatives are to be comparatively evaluated. This paper presents a proposed approach for performance evaluation of a commercial 100 MWe class power plant, which is currently being considered for 'retrofitting' for the demonstration of the concept. The system is configurated based on design and operating conditions with proper assumptions. System components to be included in the discussion are listed. Evaluation criteria in terms of performance are summarized based on the system heat and mass balance and simple performance parameters, such as the fuel to power efficiency and brief introduction of the second law analysis. Also, gas composition is identified for additional analysis to impurities in the system including the purity of oxygen and unwanted gaseous components of nitrogen, argon and oxygen in air separation unit and $CO_2$ processing unit.

Si MOSFET과 GaN FET Power System 성능 비교 평가 (Comparative Performance Evaluation of Si MOSFET and GaN FET Power System)

  • This paper carries out a series of analysis of power system using Gallium Nitride (GaN) FET which has wide band gap (WBG) characteristics comparing to conventional Si MOSFET-used power system. At first, for comparison of each semiconductor device, the switching-transient parameter is quantitatively extracted from released information of GaN FET. And GaN FET model which reflect this dynamic property is configured. By using this model, the performance of GaN FET is analyzed comparing to Si MOSFET. Also, in order to enable a representative assessment on the power system level, Si MOSFET and GaN FET are applied to the most common structure of power system, full-bridge, and each power systems are compared based on various criteria, such as performance, efficiency and power density. The entire process is verified with the aid of mathematical analysis and simulation.
