  • This paper presents the study results of FACTS application plan for transmission capability Enhancement. Power transfer across the KEPCO system resulting from a concentration of load in the Kyung-In area are subject to thermal, voltage and stability constrains. In the analysis study of the KEPCO system in 2000 and 2006 year. voltage stability analysis. modal analysis and dynamic stability were simulated by the power system analysis tools(VSTAB, PSS/E).

  • In this paper, the improvement of the control response by using the error compensator to improve the stability of the control in the power conversion system is verified. Typically a closed loop control method is used to improve the control response characteristics in a traditional power conversion system and this is accomplished by generating a PWM waveform. In this paper, the newly constructed Type3 compensator to overcome the existing such as PI controller or Type2 compensator has been developed to improve the control stability of these closed loop control systems and the effectiveness of the use of error compensation devices was verified by presenting technique to improve stability and select its parameters by expanding the range of phase gains. Stability improvements are shown by the extension of the phase gain range and parameter selection techniques and the effects of using the error compensation device are verified accordingly.

계통안정화를 위한 SMES의 모델링과 적정위치 선정 (A Modeling and Optimal Site of SMES for Power System Stabilization)

  • In this research, ANN modeling method of SMES unit is developed for stability analysis, and the optimal site is selected to maximize stabilization effect of SMES unit. The ANN is trained by learning data which is obtained through the application of complex test function into the traditional mathematical mode. In order to verify the validity of proposed modeling method, fault data of sample power system is applied to both the traditional and the ANN models. When the response of traditional and proposed models are compared, the average error for the active and reactive power are 2.51[%], and 0.24[%], respectively. From the comparison, the relevance of proposed method is validated. For the transient stability analysis, an application method of the proposed model is presented, and the transient stability performance index, which describes system stabilization effect of SMES at disturbance, is also suggested, and optimal site selection method of SMES is presented. In the viewpoint of the voltage stability, system stabilization criterion of local bus is presented from P­V curve, and then optimal site which can maximize the voltage stabilization of the whole power system, is decided from the proposed voltage stability performance index.

  • 본 논문은 전력계통의 부하 모델이 단기 전압 안정도 해석 결과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 우선, 본 논문에서는 일반적으로 많이 사용되는 부하 모델을 소개하였고, 일부 부하 모델은 모델 파라미터를 최적화하더라도 실제 측정된 계통 현상을 재현할 수 없다는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 상정사고 상황을 고려하여 국내 전력계통의 단기 전압 안정도 해석 시 부하 모델의 영향과 지역별 부하 모델의 영향성을 검토하였다. 해당 결과를 통해 부하 모델 선정의 중요성을 재차 확인할 수 있었으며, 상정사고 인근 지역의 부하 특성을 보다 더 정확하게 반영해야 함을 알 수 있다.

  • In this paper. we have simulated the transient stability of power system with motor loads. In study of power system stability, modelling of motors is required for the system with large concentrations of motors. Therefore the dynamics attributable to motors are usually the most significant aspects of dynamics characteristics of system loads. A synchronous motor is modelled as a dynamic load. We investigate the effect of synchronous motors of Kwang Yang network with three phase fault.

  • This paper presents an efficient method to calculate voltage collapse point and to avoid voltage instability. To evaluate voltage stability in power systems, it is necessary to get critical loading points. For this purpose, this paper uses linear programming to calculate efficiently voltage collapse point. Also, if index value becomes larger than given threshold value, voltage stability is improved by compensation of reactive power at selected bus. This algorithm is verified by simulation on the IEEE 14-bus sample system.

  • 한국은 단위기 발전기 용량 1.4 GW, 20 GW를 초과하는 몇 개 지역의 대단위 발전단지, 대단위 발전단지에서 발전력을 인출하는 2~3개의 초고압 송전선로, 비수권에서 수도권으로 발전력을 수송하는 6개의 초고압 송전선로 구성 등 대용량 발전, 대규모 송전시스템 등 전통적인 전력계통 시스템의 특징을 가지고 있다. 이런 전력계통 특성으로 신재생에너지 진입 단계는 낮으나 주파수 안정도 문제 등으로 일부 발전기 출력 감발을 시행하고 있으며 향후 신재생에너지 확대 정책으로 전력계통 안정도 유지 문제가 가장 중요한 현안으로 떠오를 전망이다. 태양광, 풍력발전 같은 비관성 인버터 기반 신재생에너지 급증시 독립계통에서 전력계통 안정도를 향상시키는 수단은 Natural 관성 자원인 동기조상기와 가상 관성 자원인 BESS를 계통에 설치하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 신재생에너지가 계통안정도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 최저주파수를 유지하기 위한 BESS 효과를 계통 모의를 통하여 분석하였다. 발전제약 용량에 따른 BESS 효과는 최대 122.81%에 도달하는 것을 확인하였다.

Universal SSR Small Signal Stability Analysis Program of Power Systems and its Applications to IEEE Benchmark Systems

  • The paper presents a novel approach of constructing the state matrix of the multi-machine power system for SSR (subsynchronous resonance) analysis using the linearized equations of individual devices including electrical transmission network dynamics. The machine models in the local d-q reference frame are integrated with the network models in the common R-I reference frame by simply transforming their output equations into the R-I frame where the transformed output is used as the input to the network dynamics or vice versa. The salient feature of the formulation is that it allows for modular construction of various component models without rearranging the overall state space formulation. This universal SSR small signal stability program provides a flexible tool for systematic analyses of SSR small-signal stability impacts of both conventional devices such as generation systems and novel devices such as power electronic apparatus and their controllers. The paper also presents its application results to IEEE benchmark models.

  • The output storage capacitor of the PFC converters is commonly designed for the selected hold-up time or the allowed output ripple voltage percentage. Nevertheless, this output capacitor is a main contribution factor to the PFC system stability. Moreover, seeking for a minimum output storage capacitor that assures the PFC desired operation under all condition, and providing the advantage of a small size and low cost is the main interesting target for engineering. Therefore, in this issue the design steps of the PFC converter have been discussed depending on three choices, output ripple, hold-up time, and stability. It is cleared that any design must take the minimum required storage capacitor for stability prospective as step-l in deign, then apply for any other specification like hold-up time or ripple percentage.

  • This paper presents results of comparing CSC HVDC with VSC HVDC on the stability in case of connecting Haenam to Jeju electrical power system, the steady-state stability in the case of Jeju electrical power system with CSC HYDC or VSC HVDC, is validated through PV curve, QV curve of Jeju electrical power system. And in the case of CSC HVDC, it is considered that synchronous condenser is connected or not. The results are compared each other. PSS/E simulation tool is used for the steady-state stability analysis.
