A power limiting algorithm is proposed for stable operation of grid-connected inverter in case of grid voltage unbalance considering the operation limit of inverter. During the voltage unbalance the control performance of Inverter. is degraded and the output power contains 120Hz ripple due to the negative sequence of voltage. In this paper, conventional dual sequence current controller is implemented to solve these problems using separated control of positive and negative sequence. Especially the maximum power limit which guarantees the maximum rated current of the inverter is automatically calculated as the instant grid voltage changes. As soon as the voltage recovers the proposed algorithm can return to the normal power control mode accomplishing low voltage ride through. Proposed algorithm is verifed using PSCAD/EMTDC simulations and tested experimentally at 4.4kW wind turbine simulator set-up.
Modular multilevel converters (MMCs) have emerged as the most promising topology for high and medium voltage applications for the coming years. However, one particular negative characteristic of MMCs is the existence of circulating current, which contains a dc component and a series of low-frequency even-order ac harmonics. If not suppressed, these ac harmonics will distort the arm currents, increase the power loses, and cause higher current stresses on the semiconductor devices. Repetitive control (RC) is well known due to its distinctive capabilities in tracking periodic signals and eliminating periodic errors. In this paper, a novel circulating current control scheme base on RC is proposed to effectively track the dc component and to restrain the low-frequency ac harmonics. The integrating function is inherently embedded in the RC controller. Therefore, the proposed circulating current control only parallels the RC controller with a proportional controller. Thus, conflicts between the RC controller and the traditional proportional integral (PI) controller can be avoided. The design methodologies of the RC controller and a stability analysis are also introduced. The validity of the proposed circulating current control approach has been verified by simulation and experimental results based on a three-phase MMC downscaled prototype.
In this paper, single-phase uninterruptible power supply design method is presented. In this control scheme, input current, output current and output voltage are used. For voltage control PR controller is used and that for current controller is PI controller. The gains for controllers are sought by the classical method for determining gains. Throughout simulations the performance of single-phase UPS is verified.
This paper deals with the comparisons of gain design of current controller with the first order lag characteristics. Usually the current controller for motor drives and PCSs has the first order lag characteristics to avoid the current overshoot. This paper suggests a new inductor current controller for the PCSs and also compares with other two current controllers. The simulation results show that the proposed design method also gives the first order lag characteristics and can be used as an alternative current controller for PCSs.

In this paper, a robust controller for PWM converter is proposed. The proposde converter controller consists of a PI controller for DC output voltage and a current controller using error-space approach for maintaining the sinusoidal current waveform and unity power factor. Conventionally, the try and error method has been used to design the current controller considering the switching frequency of the devices and sampling frequency of the digital controller. But this proposed method is based on characteristic ratio assignment(CRA) method which has the advantage to design the optimal gain to meet the referenced response and overshoot within the limit range. First, the CRA based current controller algorithm is explained. Then the validity of proposed controller is verified through the PSiM simulation and experience results.
The electric power wheelchair needs to control motor torque and speed for responding to variable actions given by handling a joystick. In this paper a DSP-based BLDC motor controller using a single dc-link current sensor is presented for electric power wheelchair. It is composed by a DSP processor and three-phase inverter module. To control torque, high speed current control is achieved by the PI controller and pulse width modulation (PWM) signals with 25 kHz carrier frequency, which is performed by 200 ${\mu}sec$ cycle. The speed controller computes the new direct current reference from the speed error and the PI control equation. The displacement value by handling the joystick is converted to reference speeds of right and left wheel motors using nonholonomic wheelchair kinematics. Experimental results show that the presented control system is enough to implement a speed servo in wheelchair driving.
This paper presents a simple input-constrained current controller for a DC/DC boost converter with stability analysis that considers the nonlinearity of the converter model. The proposed controller is designed to satisfy the inherent input constraints of the converter under a physically reasonable assumption, which is the first contribution of this paper. The second contribution is providing a rigorous proof of the proposed control law, which keeps the closed-loop system along with the internal dynamics stable. The performance of the proposed controller is demonstrated through an experiment employing a 20-kW DC/DC boost converter.

This paper presents the three-port DC-DC converter modeling and controller design procedure, which is part of the solid-state transformer (SST) to interface medium voltage AC grid to bipolar DC distribution network. Due to the high primary side DC link voltage, the proposed converter employs the three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) topology at the primary side and 2-two level half bridge circuits for each DC distribution network. For the proposed converter particular structure, this paper conducts modeling the three winding transformer and the power transfer between each port. A decoupling method is adopted to simplify the power transfer model. The voltage controller design procedure is presented. In addition, the output current sharing controller is employed for current balancing between the parallel-connected secondary output ports. The proposed circuit and controller performance are verified by experimental results using a 30 kW prototype SST system.
In this paper, we describe a design procedure for cascade controller for induction motor drives based on Genetic Algorithms(GAs). Most electric drives have two separate controllers for current and speed control, which are in general designed in two consecutive steps(firstly the current controller and then the speed controller). We search simultaneously for the couple of discrete anti-windup controllers achieving the optimal compromise of weighted cost and performance indices related to both current and speed responses.

A New Single Phase Active Power Filter Controller is proposed using Rotating Synchronous Frame d-q transformation. Instantaneous Active Power is calculated using d-q transformation. Average Value of Instantaneous Active Power is obtained using Low Pass Filter. Because power factor is corrected, source current is in phase with source voltage. Amplitude of source current is calculated using single phase power formula. Reference signal of compensated current of Active power filter is obtained from source current reference signal minus load current. Simulation is performed using hysteresis current controller in proposed new controller. Simulation result shows that because active power filter compensates load current, source current is in phase with source voltage and source current is sinusoidal. And Hilbert transformer is builded using all pass filter.
