Purpose: The aim of this study is to develop a three-wheel riding cultivator for improving the performance of the current four-wheel riding cultivators in the market. Methods: A prototype three-wheel riding cultivator with the rated power of 15.5-kW, a primary hydrostatic and a two-speed selective gear transmission shifts, front/rear three-wheel drive, a hydraulic wheel tread adjustment, and the mid-section attachment of the major implements was designed and constructed. Its specifications and basic performance are investigated. Results: The maximum speeds of the prototype at the low and high stages were measured to be approximately 7.31, and 11.29 km/h in forward travel, respectively, and approximately 3.60, and 6.37 km/h in rearward travel, respectively. The minimum ground clearance is shown to be 670 mm. The rotating speeds of the power takeoff (PTO) shaft at the low and high stages are shown to be approximately 795 and 1,140 rpm, respectively. The tread of the rear wheels, the minimum radius of turning, and the maximum lifting height of the parallel link device are measured to be within 1,320-1,720 mm, 2.80 m, and 390 mm, respectively. Approximately 25.3% and 74.7% of the total weight of the prototype are distributed in the front and rear wheels on flat ground, respectively. When the tread of rear wheels increased from 1,320 to 1,720 mm, the left and right static lateral overturning angles increased from $33.4^{\circ}$ to $39.1^{\circ}$ and from $29.0^{\circ}$ to $36.1^{\circ}$, respectively. Conclusions: The prototype three-wheel riding cultivator showed a wide range of travel and PTO speeds, high minimum ground clearance, small minimum radius of turning, and easy control of the rear wheel tread. Further, the easy observation of cultivating operations by mid-mounting the implements can improve quality of work. Therefore, the prototype is expected to contribute to the riding mechanization of cultivating operations for various upland crops in Korea.

Wireless charging has been considered an essential part of recent mobile devices. Moreover, various wireless charging systems have emerged through many studies. Among the systems, in the 2D flat coil system, the transmitter coil and receiver coil are arranged horizontally as close as possible to improve the charging efficiency. Nowadays, the 3D coil system has been proposed by adding some slope to flat 2D coils to reduce the volume. On the other hand, the 3D coil system has a lower charging efficiency than the 2D system that decreases rapidly with increasing distance. This paper proposes a new system that improves the low efficiency and charging freedom, which are the drawbacks of the existing 3D systems. The proposed system was designed in three-dimensions, and another transmitter coil was added to the transmitter coil to improve the transmission efficiency and flexibility. The measurement showed that the charging efficiency of the proposed system was 40.10% when the distance between coils was 8 mm, which is 20.5 % improvement over the existing one. The proposed method can be applied when new wireless charging systems are designed and improve charging efficiency can be improved.
The eLoran system is considered the best alternative because the vulnerability of satellite navigation systems cannot be resolved as perfect. Thus, South Korea is in the process of establishing a testbed of the eLoran system in the West Sea. To provide resilient navigation services to all waters, additional eLoran transmitters are required. However, it is difficult to establish eLoran transmitters because of various practical reasons. Instead, the positioning with NDGNSS/AIS source can expand the coverage and its algorithm with applying continuous waves is under development. Using the already operating NDGNSS reference station and the AIS base station, it is possible to operate the navigation system with higher accuracy than before. Thus, it is crucial to predict the performance when each system is integrated. In this paper, we have developed a simulation tool that can predict the performance of terrestrial integrated navigation system using the eLoran system, maritime NDGNSS station and the AIS station. The esitmated phase error of the received signal is calculated with the Cramer-Rao Lower Bound factoring the transmission power and the atmospheric noise according to the transmission frequency distributed by the ITU. Additionally, the simulation results are more accurate by estimating the annual mean atmospheric noise of the 300 kHz signal through the DGPS signal information collected from the maritime NDGNSS station. This approach can further increase the reliability of simulation results.

In this paper, the two design techniques of the embedded system which provides a wireless image observation with temporary ad-hoc network are proposed and developed. The first method is based on the embedded system design technique for a nearly real-time wireless short observation application, having a specific remote monitoring node with a built-in image processing function, and having the maximum rate of 1 fps (frame per second) wireless image transmission capability of a $160{\times}128$size image. The second technique uses the embedded system for a general wireless long observation application, consisting of the main node, the remote monitoring node, and the system controller with built-in image processing function, and the capability of the wireless image transmission rate of 1/3 fps. The proposed system uses the wireless ad-hoc network which is widely accepted as a short range, low power, and bidirectional digital communication, the hardware are consisted of the general developed modules, a small digital camera, and a PC, and the embedded software based upon the Zigbee stack and the user interface software are developed and tested on the implemented module. The wireless environment analysis and the performance results are presented.

In a bursty user traffic mode, ALOHA random multiple access protocol achieves higher performance than any conventional fixed assignment technique. One of central problems in slotted ALOHA is synchronization. Because of the long propagation delay in satellite mobile communication, packet may be spilt over into adjacent slots and thus guard time may be included between packet intervals. In conventional ALOHA channels, simultaneous transmission by two or more users results in a collision : the unsuccessful packets have to be retransmitted according to some retransmission algorithm. However, in a radio environment, users are often at different distances from the receiver : therefore, their received signals have substantially different power levels. The packet arriving with the highest energy now has a good chance of being detected accurately. Similarly, in some spread-spectrum random access systems, the earliest arriving packet dominates later arriving packets and thus captures the channel. In this paper slotted ALOHA channel with non zero guard time and capture probability is studied. Using the Markovian model, the performance of slotted ALOHA with guard time and capture effects is derived and compared with that of the conventional ALOHA via numerical analysis.

The IEEE 802.15.4 offers standard about PHY and MAC layer and features low power, low bandwidth, and low speed data communication. Because of this reason, IEEE 802.15.4 is only within a limited range such as sensor detection and home network; nevertheless, the research about transmission multimedia data like voice packet through wireless sensor networks is conducted widely. In this paper, we proposed the group communication system based on the sensor network. TDMA/TDD MAC based on the IEEE 802.15.4 PHY for voice communication on the sensor network is designed by improvement existing peer-to-peer voice communication on the sensor network and hardware is implemented for group communication. To measure the quality of designed system, mean opinion score (MOS) is obtained from the experiment and verified by using sine wave method. As a result of an experiment, we expect that a many cases of application solution can be developed using presented system.
It is necessary to develop small, implantable bio-telemetry systems which can measure and transmit patients' bio-signals from internal body to external receiver. When measuring bio-signals, like electrical bio-signals, acoustic bio-signal measurement has also a big clinical usefulness. But, sound signal has larger frequency bandwidth than any other bio-signals. When considering these issues, a wireless telemetry system which has rapid data transmission rate proportional to wide frequency bandwidth is necessary to be developed. The bluetooth module is used to overcome the data rate limitation caused by the large frequency bandwidth. In this paper, a novel multimedia bluetooth biotelemetry system was developed which consists of transmitter module located in the body and receiver device located outside of the body. The transmitter consists of microphone, bluetooth, and wireless charging device. And the receiver consists of bluetooth and codec system. The sound inside the skin is captured by microphone and sent to receiver by bluetooth while charging. The wireless charging system constantly supplies the electric power to the system. To verify the performance of the developed system, an in vitro experiment has been performed. The results show that the proposed biotelemetry system has ability to acquire the sound signals under the skin.

Recently, many countries are making efforts for the development of ocean resources because the necessity and importance of the ocean resources are increased. Underwater sensor networks have emerged as a very powerful technique for many applications, including monitoring, measurement, surveillance and control and envisioned to enable applications for oceanographic data collection, ocean sampling, environmental and pollution monitoring, offshore exploration, disaster prevention, tsunami and seaquake warning, assisted navigation, distributed tactical surveillance, and mine reconnaissance. The idea of applying sensor networks into underwater environments (i.e., forming underwater sensor networks) has received increasing interests in monitoring aquatic environments for scientific, environmental, commercial, safety, and military reasons. The data obtained by observing around the environment are wireless-transmitted by a radio set with various waves. According to the technical development of the medium set, some parameters restricted in observing the ocean have been gradually developed with the solution of power, distance, and corrosion and watertight by the seawater. The actual matters such as variety of required data, real-time observation, and data transmission, however, have not enough been improved just as various telecommunication systems on the land. In this paper, a wireless management system will be studied through a setup of wireless network available at fishery around the coast, real-time environmental observation with RF sensor, and data collection by a sensing device at the coastal areas.
In the fifth generation (5G) networks, the mobile services require much faster connections than in the fourth generation (4G) mobile networks. Recently, as one of the promising 5G technologies, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has been drawing attention. In NOMA, the users share the frequency and time, so that the more users can be served simultaneously. NOMA has several superiorites over orthogonal multiple access (OMA) of long term evolution (LTE), such as higher system capacity and low transmission latency. In this paper, we investigate impact of channel estimation errors on successive interference cancellation (SIC) performance of NOMA. First, the closed-form expression of the bit-error rate (BER) with channel estimation errors is derived, And then the BER with channel estimation errors is compared to that with the perfect channel estimation. In addition, the signal-to-noise (SNR) loss due to channel estimation errors is analyzed.

In the wideband code division access (WCDMA) systems, a pilot channel is used to determine WCDMA network coverage, cell identification, synchronization, timing acquisition and tracking, user-set handoff, channel estimation, and so on. A wireless repeater, which is deployed in the urban area for the WCDMA system to meet the growing demand on wireless communication services, has the possibility to receive several pilot signals from a large number of base stations, however, cannot distinguish its service base station's signal among them. This pilot interference results in frequent handoffs in the user equipment, which degrades the radio reception, transmission efficiency, quality of service, and channel capacity and increases the unwanted power consumption. In this paper, thus, we propose a pilot pollution interference cancellation scheme using one of the adaptive estimation algorithms, normalized least mean square (NLMS), which is applicable to a wireless repeater. We carried out link-level and network-level computer simulations to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme in a wireless repeater. The simulation results verify the bit error rate (BER) improvement in the link level and the call drop probability improvement in the network level.
