  • For 4-conductor bundle transmission line spacer damper are equipped so as to keep the spacing between sub conductors. For 4-conductor bundle the subspan spacing of a spacer damper is determined and applied in order that the bundle may get restored to a normal state when 4-conductor bundle is rolled by rigid body vibration due to wind. But 4 conductors of 345kV 4-conductor bundle transmission line were twisted by the angle of $315^{\circ}$ for the first time korea. In this paper, we will analyze the reason of the power line twisting of 4-conductor bundle which occurred for the first time in korea and offer the preventive countermeasures for this

  • Corona discharges form at the surface of a transmission line conductor when the electric-field intensity on the conductor surface exceeds the breakdown strength of air. In order to decrease the electric-field intensity on the conductor surface, a new 6 conductor bundle has been studied. This bundle, hybrid conductor bundle, consists of using a larger subconductor at the bottom two conductor positions in the 6-conductor bundles of each phase of the line. The electric field on these two larger subconductors is reduced which in turn reduces the corona noise. It is shown that this is a better solution for decreasing the electric-field intensity than ether the conventional bundle or the asymmetric bundle proposed by EPRI.

  • Estimates of maximum amplitudes of conductor galloping are needed in order to determine appropriate phase-to-phase clearances on the overhead lines. One approach to obtaining these estimates is through the use of mathematical models of conductor galloping. Unfortunately, the models that consider both vertical conductor motion (Den Hartog type) and torsional conductor motion are often too complex for practical use. However, the estimates of maximum amplitude obtained from galloping models that assume only vertical (Den Hartog type) conductor motion tend to be too conservative. This paper presents the DF method to obtain the estimates of the amplitude and the frequency of galloping limit cycle, along with the wind pressure at which they occur, from a nonlinear dynamic model that considers both Den Hartog type and torsional conductor motion. From these results, the useful data for the line design guide and further insight into the mechanism of the conductor galloping are obtained.

Assesment of the Decrement in Tensile Strength of an Overhead Transmission Line's Conductor in Korean Power System

  • The tensile strength of an overhead transmission line's conductor in response to an aging is being assessed in this paper. It is our view that, the decrement in the conductor's tensile strength is a key index that can be used to determine a conductor's end of life and a current limits. This paper describes a probabilistic method of assessing this index for main transmission lines which are responsible for the north bound power flow in the Seoul metropolitan area. Such an assessment can be a useful guide for economic system operation.

Lifetime estimation of a covered overhead line conductor

  • The paper presents results of studies concerning wind-induced aeolian vibration and fatigue of a 110 kV covered conductor overhead line. Self-damping measurement techniques are discussed: power method is found to be the most reliable technique. A method for compensating tension variations during the self-damping test is presented. Generally used empirical self-damping power models are enhanced and the different models are compared with each other. The Energy Balance Analysis (EBR) is used to calculate the aeolian vibration amplitudes, which thereafter are converted to bending stress for the calculation of conductor lifetime estimate. The results of EBA are compared with field measurements, Results indicate that adequate lifetime estimates are produced by EBA as well as field measurements. Generally the EBA gives more conservative lifetime expectancy. This is believed to result from the additional damping existing in true suspension structures not taken into account by EBA. Finally, the correctness of the line design is verified using Cigre's safe design tension approach.

Analysis of Different 500kV HVAC Transmission Lines Lightning Shielding

  • The lightning shielding of different 500 kV HVAC-TL high voltage AC transmission lines was analyzed. The studied transmission lines were horizontal flat single circuit and double circuit transmission lines. The lightning attractive areas were drawn around power conductors and shielding wires. To draw the attractive areas of the high voltage transmission lines, transmission line power conductors, shielding wires and lightning leader were modeled. Different parameters were considered such as lightningslope, ground slope and wind on lightning attractive areas. From the calculated results, the power conductors voltages affected on attractive areas around power conductors and shielding wires. For negative lightning leader, the attractive area around the transmission line power conductor increased around power conductors stressed by positives voltage and decreased around power conductors stressed by negative voltage. In spite of this, the attractivearea of the transmission line shielding wire increasedaround the shielding wire above the power conductor stressed by the positive voltage and decreased around the shielding wire above the power conductor stressed by negative voltage. The attractive areas around power conductors and shielding wires were affected by the surrounding conditions, such as lightning leader slope, ground slope. The AC voltage of the transmission lines made the shielding areas changing with time.

카테너리 각도를 이용한 가공송전도체의 이도 추정 (Dip Estimation for Overhead Transmission Conductor using Catenary Angle)

  • 가공송전 도체는 정상 동작조건 하에서 전력회사의 선로 설계지침에 규정된 지상고를 안정범위 내에서 항상 유지할 수 있어야 한다. 따라서 새로운 선로를 건설하거나 노화도체의 장력을 다시 조정하거나 또는 전력용량을 최대화하기 위해 동적송전용량을 모니터링하는 경우에, 도체 이도를 측정/또는 모니터링하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 도체의 카테너리 각도로 이도 및 장력을 추정하기 위한 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 가공송전선로의 대부분의 도체들은 전형적인 카테너리 곡선을 나타내므로 철탑 측의 카테너리 각도로부터 도체의 카테너리 곡선을 유일하게 결정할 수 있다. 이 카테너리 곡선을 토대로 도체의 이도나 수평장력을 쉽게 추정할 수 있다. 몇 가지 시뮬레이션과 간단한 실험 결과를 통하여 제안된 방법이 가공송전선의 도체 이도와 장력을 측정/또는 모니터링하는데 효과적으로 사용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

한국전력 노후 가공송전선의 동적송전용량에 대한 재평가 (A Reassessment for Dynamic Line Rating of Aged Overhead Transmission Lines in Kepco's Network)

  • During the past 2 decades, many electric power companies have been searching various solutions in order to supply power with economical and more efficiency in the present transmission utilities. Most interesting method to increase the line capacity of overhead transmission lines without constructing any new line might be to adapt Dynamic Line Rating(DLR). Specified rating is normally determined by any current level, not by conductor temperature. Although specified rating is essential to design transmission line, dip may be the most important factor in limiting transmission capacity. Transmission lines built by the oldest dip criterion among the 3 different design criteria for conductor dip are nearly over one-half of all Kepco's transmission lines. This paper describes an up-rating method for those transmission lines in order to apply DLR technique. Based on limit dip conductor temperature and current of the transmission lines, limitation performance and effectiveness in applying DLR with weather model are analyzed. As a result of analysis, it can be shown that an improved method could be effectively used for increasing the line rating of old transmission line which was built by the design criterion with low dip margin.

배전선로의 이도설계 및 시공에 대한 실증연구 (Empirical Study on the Dip Design and Installation of Distribution Line Conductors)

  • In this study, the comparative analysis, among the design standard value of distribution power, the calculated value from the measurement data of strand and the empirical data of the distribution line itself, have been performed for the elastic coefficients and linear expansion coefficients of distribution line conductors. The empirical values of elastic coefficients were lower about 10.6%(892kgf/mm2) than those of the design standard value of the distribution power and there were a little difference between the empirical values of linear expansion coefficients and the design standard value of the distribution power. From the above results, it could be concluded that the empirical values of conductor characteristics should be used in the dip design and installation of distribution line.

전기철도에 의한 통신선 유도전압 다도체계산법상의 궤도효과 적용기술 분석 (Analysis on the Application of Railway Screening Effect in the Multi-conductor Line Solution of Induced Voltage to Telecommunication Lines by Electrified Traction System)

  • 전기철도인 고속전철시설에 의한 통신선 유도전압을 계산하는데 있어서는 CCITT Directives에 의한 다도체계산법을 사용한다. 통신시스템계에 미치는 전력시스템계에 의한 유도의 영향력에는 다양한 차폐 요소들이 존재하여 경감 요율로서 사용된다. 철도시스템계에 있어서는 철도의 선로(레일) 자체에 의한 궤도효과가 존재하는데 다도체계산법에 있어서 궤도효과가 반영된 결과인지에 대하여는 계산법 자체에 명시되어 있지 않으므로 유도전압 계산의 적정성에 대하여 논란이 되고 있다. 이러한 기술 문제의 해결을 위하여 본 논문에서는 궤도효과가 영향을 미칠 수 있는 원리적 범위를 고찰하고 궤도효과의 적용과 관련된 일본 유도자료 등의 사례를 통하여 그 의미를 해석한다. 그리고 다도체계산법 자체에서의 궤도효과 적용성을 분석하였다. 아울러 계산 시뮬레이션을 통한 유도전압을 비교하여 궤도효과의 적용성을 검증한다. 이상의 분석 결과를 종합하여 볼 때 다도체계산법상에는 궤도효과가 포함되어 있는 것으로 결론지을 수 있다.
