In this paper, the indirect BIEM(boundary integral equation method) is adopted to analyze 3-D eddy currents in cover plate of power transformer. In indirect BIEM, the equivalent magnetic surface charge density and the eqivalent magnanetic surface current density are the unknowns. Using triangular constant elements, the integral equations are discretized into boundary element equations of minimum order. Eddy currents are obtained in terms of euqivalent magnetic surface sources. And the locad overheating can be predicted using the eddy currents distribution in cover plate of power transformer.
This study considers the buckling of orthotropic cylindrical thin shells with material nonhomogeneity in the thickness direction, under torsion, which is a power function of time. The dynamic stability and compatibility equations are obtained first. Applying Galerkin's method then applying Ritz type variational method to these equations and taking the large values of loading parameters into consideration, analytic solutions are obtained for critical parameter values. Using those results, the effects of the periodic and power variations of Young's moduli and density, ratio of Young's moduli variations, loading parameters variations and the power of time in the torsional load expression variations are studied via pertinent computations. It is concluded that all these factors contribute to appreciable effects on the critical parameters of the problem in question.
In this paper we study the existence and long-time behavior of weak solutions to a class of quasilinear degenerate parabolic equations involving weighted p-Laplacian operators with a new class of nonlinearities. First, we prove the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions by combining the compactness and monotone methods and the weak convergence techniques in Orlicz spaces. Then, we prove the existence of global attractors by using the asymptotic a priori estimates method.
A lumped kinetic modeling platform is developed to investigate the coupled nuclear/thermo-fluid features of the closed natural circulation loop in a low power lead cooled fast reactor. This coolant material serves a reliable choice with noticeable thermo-physical safety characteristics in terms of natural convection. Boussienesq approximation is resorted to appropriately reduce the governing partial differential equations (PDEs) for the fluid flow into a set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). As a main contributing step, the coolant circulation speed is accordingly correlated to the loop operational power and temperature levels. Further temporal analysis and control synthesis activities may thus be carried out within a more consistent state space framework. Nyquist stability criterion is thereafter employed to carry out a sensitivity analysis for the system stability at various power and heat sink temperature levels and results confirm a widely stable natural circulation loop.
This paper proposes penalty factor equations that take into consideration the weld strength over-match given in the classified form similar to the revised equations presented in the Code Case N-779 via cyclic elastic-plastic finite element analysis. It was found that the $K_e$ analysis data reflecting elastic follow-up can be consolidated by normalizing the primary-plus-secondary stress intensity ranges excluding the nonlinear thermal stress intensity component, $S_n$ to over-match degree of yield strength, $M_F$. For the effect of over-match on $K_n{\times}K_{\nu}$, dispersion of the $K_n{\times}K_{\nu}$ analysis data can be sharply reduced by dividing total stress intensity range, excluding local thermal stresses, $S_{p-lt}$ by $M_F$. Finally, the proposed equations were applied to the weld between the safe end and the piping of a pressurizer surge nozzle in pressurized water reactors in order to calculate a cumulative usage factor. The cumulative usage factor was then compared with those derived by the previous $K_e$ factor equations. The result shows that application of the proposed equations can significantly reduce conservatism of fatigue assessment using the previous $K_e$ factor equations.
Constitutive equations in a nuclear reactor safety analysis code are mostly empirical correlations developed from experiments, which always accompany uncertainties. The accuracy of the code can be improved by modifying the constitutive equations fitting wider range of data with less uncertainty. Thus, the sensitivity of the code with respect to the constitutive equations is evaluated quantitatively in the paper to understand the room for improvement of the code. A new methodology is proposed which first starts by dividing the thermal hydraulic conditions into multiple sub-regimes using self-organizing map (SOM) clustering method. The sensitivity analysis is then conducted by multiplying an arbitrary set of coefficients to the constitutive equations for each sub-divided thermal-hydraulic regime with SOM to observe how the code accuracy varies. The randomly chosen multiplier coefficient represents the uncertainty of the constitutive equations. Furthermore, the set with the smallest error with the selected experimental data can be obtained and can provide insight which direction should the constitutive equations be modified to improve the code accuracy. The newly proposed method is applied to a steady-state experiment and a transient experiment to illustrate how the method can provide insight to the code developer.

Design equations of DC blocks terminated in arbitrary impedances are newly suggested and a microstrip DC block is tested for the perfect matching. The DC block is a two-port passive component and the power excited at a port is transmitted into another port. However, all the excited power at the input can not be delivered to the output and therefore most of the conventional DC blocks can not be perfectly matched with arbitrary termination impedances. To solve the matching problem, its one-port equivalent resonant circuit model, front which design equations can be derived, is newly suggested. Using the derived design equations, any DC block can be designed, perfectly matched without any restriction of coupling coefficients. To verify the derived design equations, measurements were carried out and the results are in good agreement with prediction, showing insertion and return losses at 4.1 GHz are 0.82dB and -31dB, respectively.
Design of single stage AC/DC converter with high power factor and high efficiency based on half-bridge topology for low power application is proposed. To obtain design equations, modelling and detailed analysis are performed. The proposed converter gives and power factor and high efficiency by employing aynchronous rectifiers. To verify the performances of the proposed converter 90W-converter has been designed. This prototype converter meets IEC555-2 requirements with near unity power factor.
A dynamic stability analysis of a large interconnected power system takes much time even though the modern large computer is used because of the high order of the system dynamic equations. By the necessity of the low order power system models, a simplified power system model of the generator with the high speed solid state exciter is developed in this paper. The usefulness of the reduced model is confirmed by comparing its eigenvalues and the transient responses with those of the original model in the single machine to infinite bus power system.
This paper presents the continuation power flow system that is under development. The continuation power flow system provides robust solutions of power flow equations at any operating point. The robust convergency enables one to find solutions even at the point where power flow jacobian becomes singular. Basic concept of an algorithm and its application to static voltage stability analysis are presented.
