Balanced Buck-Boost Switching Converter to Reduce Common-Mode Conducted Noise

  • Because conventional switching converters have been usually using unbalanced circuit topologies, parasitic capacitance between the drain/collector of an active switch and the frame ground through its heat sink may generate the common-mode conducted noise. We have proposed a balanced switching converter circuit, which is an effective way to reduce the common-mode conducted noise. As an example, a boost converter version of the balanced switching converter was presented and the mechanism of the common-mode noise reduction was explained using equivalent circuits. This paper extends the concept of the balanced switching converter circuit and presents a buck-boost converter version of the balanced switching converter. The feature of common-mode noise reduction is confirmed by experimental results and the mechanism of the common-mode noise reduction is explained using equivalent circuits.

We have proposed a balanced switching converter circuit, whitch is an effective way to reduce the commom-mode converter version of the balanced switching converter was presented and the mechanism of the commom-mode noise reduction was explained using equivalent circuits. This paper extends the concept of the balanced switch converter circuit and presents a buck-boost converter version of the blanced switching converter. The feature of common-mode niose reduction is confirmed by experimental resuits and the mechanisem of the commom-mode niose reduction is explained using equivalent circuits.

A Design of 5.8 ㎓ Oscillator using the Novel Defected Ground Structure

  • This paper presents a 5.8-㎓ oscillator that uses a novel defected ground structure(DGS), which is etched on the metallic ground plane. As the suggested defected ground structure is the structure for mounting an active device, it is the roles of a feedback loop inducing a negative resistance as well as a frequency-selective circuit. Applying the feedback loop between the drain and the gate of a FET device produces precise phase conversion in the feedback loop. The equivalent circuit parameters of the DGS are extracted by using a three-dimensional EM simulation ,md simple circuit analysis method. In order to demonstrate a new DGS oscillator, we designed the oscillator at 5.8-㎓. The experimental results show 4.17 ㏈m output power with over 22 % dc-to-RF power efficiency and - 85.8 ㏈c/Hz phase noise at 100 KHz offset from the fundamental carrier at 5.81 ㎓.

  • CATV is the abbreviation for Cable Television. General CATV is a way of multi-channel sending images, voices and music including stillness image as well as characters to public receivers through electrical cable communication system. In the beginning, master antennas were people can not receive TV signal well. TV programs were received from master antennas to TVs in each house. Ground connection began by experimenting lightning with the use of a kite and it means electric appliances, communication equipments, measuring instruments and so on connecting the Earth in order to flow away overcharged electricity. There are two kinds of earth connection: Power Ground and Signal Ground. Power Ground is for preventing an electric shock and in general there's no current in the connector. However in an accident, there's a quick flow of electricity out to the Earth. Signal Ground is not only for the safety of appliances but also for the safety of equipment operation. This paper is about connection for noise and interference reduce in order to prevent wrong operation and distortion of signal in the electrical appliances which can take place in CATV.

  • 세단 타입에 비해 해치백 타입의 차량은 실링구조 확보에 어려움이 있기 때문에 후석에서 느껴지는 차폐성능이 열세한 것으로 알려져 있다. 차량의 차폐감 확보를 위해 강건한 실링 시스템과 충분한 흡음/차음 성능이 요구되지만 준중형 이하 세그먼트에서는 원가, 중량의 제약으로 인해 충분한 흡차음 사양 적용에 제한을 받고있어 효율적인 흡차음 사양의 적용이 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 정량적인 측정과 비교, 분석이 가능한 파워기반 소음감소(Power Based Noise Reduction, PBNR) 기반의 차음 윈도우 평가를 통해 준중형 해치백 차량의 후석 소음원의 전달 경로를 분석하고 후석 차폐성능 확보를 위한 흡차음 대안을 제시하였다.

Modeling of an On-Chip Power/Ground Meshed Plane Using Frequency Dependent Parameters

  • This paper proposes a new modeling method for estimating the impedance of an on-chip power/ground meshed plane. Frequency dependent R, L, and C parameters are extracted based on the proposed method so that the model can be applied from DC to high frequencies. The meshed plane model is composed of two parts: coplanar multi strip (CMS) and conductor-backed CMS. The conformal mapping technique and the scaled conductivity concept are used for accurate modeling of the CMS. The developed microstrip approach is applied to model the conductor-backed CMS. The proposed modeling method has been successfully verified by comparing the impedance of RLC circuit based on extracted parameters and the simulated impedance using a 3D-field solver.

대지전위와 통신회선 잡음.발생에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Generation of the Earth Potential and Communication Line Noise)

  • 본 논문에서는 전기철도에서 발생하는 대지전위와 통신회선의 잡음에 대한 실험적 증명에 관한 것이다. 대지전위차가 발생하는 곳에서 전력유도잡음전압과 케이블 평형도 등을 측정할 경우 계측 오차가 심각하게 발생되는 것으로 나타났다. 측정결과, 고속철도 인접한 곳의 통신케이블은 시스층에 지전류가 많이 흐르는 차폐 케이블보다 일반 케이블을 그대로 사용하는 것이 잡음피해를 보다 줄일 수 있음이 실험 결과로 확인 되었다.

  • A noise reduction equipment in power systems was device combined in a passive element such as the form of L, R and C. A analysis of frequency characteristics for the transformer models shall be considered the additional capacitance between the windings($C_{ps}$), terminals($C_s$), and winding-ground($C_g$). A noise in transformer is modeled by take account into the different frequency. In case of the high frequency, transformer windings with stray capacitance have lower impedance. Therefore a noise is transferred from primary winding to secondary winding. Noise Cut Transformer(NCT) was the noise reduction device and was normally single phase two-winding type transformer. We analyzed frequency characteristics using the nodal network analysis with the equivalent circuit and the simulation of the MATLAB.

디지털 스위칭 노이즈를 감소시킨 베타선 센서 설계 (A Study on the Design of a Beta Ray Sensor Reducing Digital Switching Noise)

  • 기존에 진성난수 생성기를 위한 베타선 센서 회로의 아날로그 회로와 비교기 회로에 사용되는 파워와 그라운드 라인은 서로 공유하므로 비교기 회로의 디지털 스위칭에 의해 발생되는 파워와 그라운드 라인에서의 전압강하가 CSA를 포함한 아날로그 회로의 출력 신호 전압이 감소하는 원인이었다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 디지털 스위칭 노이즈의 source인 비교기 회로에 사용되는 파워와 그라운드 라인을 아날로그 회로의 파워와 그라운드 라인과 분리하므로 CSA(Charge Sensitive Amplifier) 회로를 포함한 아날로그 회로의 출력신호전압이 감소되는 것을 줄였다. 그리고 VREF(=1.195V) 전압을 VREF_VCOM과 VREF_VTHR 전압으로 변환해주는 전압-전압 변환기 회로는 PMOS current mirror를 통해 IREF를 구동할 때 PMOS current mirror의 드레인 전압이 다른 경우 5.5V의 고전압 VDD에서 channel length modulation effect에 의해 각각의 current mirror를 통해 흐르는 구동 전류가 달라져서 VREF_VCOM과 VREF_VTHR 전압이 감소하는 문제가 있다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 전압-전압 변환기 회로의 PMOS current mirror에 PMOS 다이오드를 추가하므로 5.5V의 고전압에서 VREF_VCOM과 VREF_VTHR의 전압이 down되지 않도록 하였다.
