Dynamic Path Planning for Mobile Robots Using Fuzzy Potential Field Method (퍼지 포텐셜 필드를 이용한 이동로봇의 동적 경로 계획)

  • In this paper, potential field algorithm was used for path planning in dynamic environment. This algorithm is used to plan a robot path because of its elegant mathematical analysis and simplicity. However, there are some problems. The problems are problem of collision risk, problem of avoidance path, problem of time consumption. In order to solve these problems, we fused potential field with fuzzy system. The input of the fuzzy system is set using relative velocity and location of robot and obstacle. The output of the fuzzy system is set using the weighting factor of repulsive potential function. The potential field algorithm is improved by using fuzzy potential field algorithm and, path planning in various environment has been done.

Consideration on the Non-linearity of Warburg Impedance for Fourier Transform Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

  • Here I report on how Fourier Transform Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (FTEIS) overcomes the potential-current linearity problem encountered in the impedance calculation process. FTEIS was first invented to solve the time-related drawback of the conventional impedance technique. The dramatic time reduction of FTEIS enabled the real-time impedance measurement but brought about the linearity problem at the same time. While the conventional method circumvents the problem using the steady-state made by a sufficiently long measurement time, FTEIS cannot because of its real-time function. However, according to the mathematical development reported in this article, the potential step used in FTEIS is proved to avoid the linearity problem. During the step period, the potential and the current are linearized by the electrochemical impedance. Also, Fourier transform of the differentiated potential and current is proved to give the same result of the original ones.

Estimating Neuro-Pathway from Visual and Somatosensory Evoked Potential (유발전위를 이용한 뇌의 시감각 및 체성감각 인지영역 추정기술)

  • In this paper a study of neuro-pathway estimation based on visual and somatosensory evoked potential is given. The evoked potentials which are caused by visual and somatosensory stimulation are detected by an average method. The forward problem that is estimating a scalp potential from a given electrical source in the brain is solved by using a triple concentric spherical shell model of the head and a single current dipole model of the neuron activity. The inverse problem which calculates a source position is solved by a least square fit between the model predicted potential and a given evoked potential measurement. The similarities between estimated sensory neuro-pathways and physiological brain function regions are verified.

  • In solving the unsteady potential flow problem of the ship in waves with the panel method, in general one can consider the basic flow as the free stream or double body solution. For the double body solution, the body boundary condition has the 2nd derivatives of the velocity potential. Low order panel methods are known to suffer from the significant error in the 2nd derivatives computed at the body surface. This paper analyzes the numerical error in the 2nd derivatives for a 2-D cylinder and a 3-D sphere problem, and an extrapolation method to obtain the correct derivatives on the body surface is suggested.

A New Technique to Escape Local Minimum in Artificial Potential Field Based Path Planning

  • The artificial potential field (APF) methods provide simple and efficient motion planners for practical purposes. However, these methods have a local minimum problem, which can trap an object before reaching its goal. The local minimum problem is sometimes inevitable when an object moves in unknown environments, because the object cannot predict local minima before it detects obstacles forming the local minima. The avoidance of local minima has been an active research topic in the potential field based path planing. In this study, we propose a new concept using a virtual obstacle to escape local minima that occur in local path planning. A virtual obstacle is located around local minima to repel an object from local minima. We also propose the discrete modeling method for the modeling of arbitrary shaped objects used in this approach. This modeling method is adaptable for real-time path planning because it is reliable and provides lower complexity.

  • A new procedure of the boundary element method(BEM),say, singular BEM for the potential problems with singularities is presented. To obtain the numerical solution of which asymptotic behavior near the singularities is close to that of the analytic solution, we use particular elements on the boundary segments containing singularities. The Motz problem and the crack problem are taken as the typical examples, and numerical results of these cases show the efficiency of the present method.

  • Indonesia is well-known as biggest producer of seaweed especially for Eucheuma and Gracilaria and also has huge potential resources and capability to develop seaweed cultivation and product. There are several provinces which have potential resources and have been contributing on seaweed production. The next challenge about seaweed production is using integrated system on brackishwater and marine aquaculture. Furthermore, about 2,000,000 ton of potential seaweed production is not explored yet. This article also tries to figure out some related aspects which are technical, economical and forecasting aspect. There is a disease which named "ice-ice" is one of the main problem and giving a new challenge in developing of problem solving for seaweed cultivation method. Economical parameters are also main important key to find out the feasibility of seaweed cultivation industry. In addition, the seaweed cultivation and production in Indonesia also have potential performance on biofuel resources as a part for solving the world problem on energy demand.

  • The free surface flow problem has been one of the most interesting and challenging topic in the area of the naval ship hydrodynamics and ocean engineering field. The problem has been treated mainly in the scope of the potential theory and its governing equation is well known Laplace equation. But in general, the exact solution to the problem is very difficult to obtain because of the nonlinearlity of the free surface boundary condition. Thus the linearized free surface problem has been treated often in the past. But as the computational power increases, there is a growing trend to solve the fully nonlinear free surface problem numerically. In the present study, a time-dependent finite element method is developed to solve the problem. The initial-boundary problem is formulated and replaced by an equivalent variational formulation. Specifically, the computations are made for a highly nonlinear flow phenomena behind a transom stern ship and a vertical strut piercing the free surface.

  • In this paper, we deal with an inverse problem for electrical resistor networks to detect the location of nodes where an extraordinary currents ow into or out of the nodes proportional to the potentials on them. To achieve the goal, we solve a special type of mixed boundary value problem for Laplace equations with potential terms on rectangular networks which plays a role as a forward problem. Then we solve an inverse problem to develop an algorithm to locate the node where the extraordinary current flows on it at most four times of measurements of potential and current on its boundary.
