The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about significant social changes through government prevention and control measures, changes in people's risk perceptions, and lifestyle changes. In response, urban inhabitants changed their behaviors significantly, including their preferences for transportation modes and urban spaces in response to government quarantine policies and concerns over the potential risk of infection in urban spaces. These changes may have long-lasting effects on urban spaces beyond the COVID-19 pandemic or they may evolve and develop new forms. Therefore, this study aims to explore the potential for urban spaces to adapt to the present and future pandemics by examining changes in urban residents' preferences in travel modes and urban space use due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study found that overall preferences for travel modes and urban spaces significantly differ between the pre-pandemic, pandemic, and post-pandemic periods. During the pandemic, preferences for travel modes and urban spaces has decreased, except for privately owned vehicles and green spaces, which are perceived to be safe from transmission, show more favorable than others. Post-pandemic preferences for travel modes and urban spaces are less favorable than pre-pandemic with urban spaces being five times less favorable than transportation. Although green spaces and medical facilities that were positively perceived during the pandemic are expected to return to the pre-pandemic preference level, other factors of urban spaces are facing a new-normal. The findings suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on urban residents' preferences for travel modes and urban space use. Understanding these changes is crucial for developing strategies to adapt to present and future pandemics and improve urban resilience.

In this paper, a safe driving assistance system is proposed by detecting the status of driver's doze based on face and eye detection. By the level of the fatigue, safe driving system alarms or set the seatbelt on vibration. To reduce the effect of backward light and too strong solar light which cause a decrease of face and eye detection rate and false fatigue detection, post processing techniques like image equalization are used. Haar transform and PCA are used for face detection. By using the statistic of the face and eye structural ratio of normal Koreans, we can reduce the eye candidate area in the face, which results in reduction of the computational load. We also propose a new eye status detection algorithm based on Hough transform and eye width-height ratio, which are used to detect eye's blinking status which decides doze level by measuring the blinking period. The system alarms and operates seatbelt on vibration through controller area network(CAN) when the driver's doze level is detected. In this paper, four algorithms are implemented and proposed algorithm is made based on the probability model and we achieves 84.88% of correct detection rate through indoor and in-car environment experiments. And also we achieves 69.81% of detection rate which is better result than that of other algorithms using IR camera.

The purpose of this study is to examine a possibility of applying the ABC system to analyze the cost of nursing service on one obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) unit in a major medical center. The activities of nurses on an OB/GYN unit were analyzed for 4 days for 96 hours. 2 week days and 2 days on weekend. Total cases included in the study were activities of 12 charge nurses and 12 staff nurses. Activities were categorized into direct and indirect activities in order to calculate the cost of activities. Nursing activities were defined multidimesionally in order to utilize the ABC system. The 60 nursing activities were classified into the direct nursing activities and the indirect nursing activities based on a literature review, interview, and survey results. The direct activities were further categorized into the single nursing activities and the multiple nursing activities. The indirect activities were classified into the indirect nursing service activities and the general management activities. The major findings of this study were as follows : 1. There were differences in activities according to the positions and duties of the nurses. The charge nurses mostly performed the indirect nursing service activities and the general management activities. Almost all of their indirect nursing activities spent on each patient were similar. The staff nurses performed the single nursing activities and the multiple nursing activities. 2. The activities of staff nurses included medication, patient assessment, rounding and organizing the unit. patient education, nursing treatment, admission and discharging of patients. There was no differences in types and amount of time spent between the nurses on day-time duty and evening-time duty, but the patient assessment activity increased during the night-time. 3. The cost of post partum nursing services for women who had a normal vaginal delivery using the ABC system included the cost incurred by direct nursing activities provided by the staff nurses (85.9%), indirect nursing activities incurred by the staff nurses(19.0%) and the nursing activities by the charge nurses and the head nurse(14.1%). The ABC system is a relatively new method of cost analysis. The results of this study can provide the nursing and hospital managers with useful information on cost control. It is suggested that more studies should be done using the ABC system and extend the scope of studies to include value analysis to aid the Activity-Based Management(ABM) and/or the reengineering of hospital process.
To produce reconstituted rabbit embryos with fetal fibroblasts, the present study was evaluated the efficiencies of the different fusion and activation conditions as assessments of subsequent development and chromosome in the embryos. New Zealand White rabbits were used throughout the study. Fetal fibroblasts collected from 22-d of fetuses were cultured in DMEM + 10% FBS in 5% $CO_2$ in air. The culture was maintained for 10 passages. In every passage half of cell suspension were kept In frozen. From rabbits treated with FSH in 30% PVP solution and hCG, oocytes were surgically collected from oviducts at 14 h post-hCG injection and stripped off their cumulus cells by re-pipetting in a 300 IU hyaluronidase solution. Oocytes with an extruded first polar body and dense cytoplasm were enucleated by micromanipulation in Ham's F-10 medium+7.5 g/$m\ell$ cytochalasin B. Euncleation was confirmed under a fluorescence microscope after staining with 5 g/$m\ell$ bisbenzimide for 2 min. Each enucleated oocyte was injected with a fetal fibroblast into a perivitelline space. Reconstructed eggs were compared fusion rates either at 2.0 ㎸/cm or 1.6 ㎸/cm(60 sec, double pulses). After fusion, all eggs were activated with the combination of 5 M ionomycin (5 min) and 10 g/$m\ell$ cycloheximide (CHX, 3h), and cultured in CRlaa medium and transferred into TCM199+10% FBS on day 3. Although there was not significantly differ in fusion rate between treatments (60%, 2.0 ㎸/cm vs. 79.4%, 1.6 ㎸/cm), none of them in the eggs fused with 2.0 ㎸/cm developed to blastocyst. In comparison of development and chromosome status between different activation treatments (Group 1; 5 M ionomycin/10 g/$m\ell$ CHX, Group 2; 5 M ionomycin/5 g/$m\ell$ CHX + 2 mM DMAP after fusion with 1.6 ㎸/cm), there were not differ in cleavage and development rates (67.3% and 28.9% in Group 1; 67% and 33% in Group 2). All out of 8 embryos evaluated in Group 1 appeared a normal diploid chromosome sets and mean number of cells (Mean SEM) on day 4.5 of culture was 141.5 23.15 (n=8). It can be concluded that the use of cycloheximide has not happened in chromosome abnormalities, and fetal fibroblasts can be used for cloning in rabbit.

Purpose: Hypofractionated radiotherapy (RT) is becoming a new standard in postoperative treatment of patients with early stage breast cancer after breast conservation surgery. However, data on hypofractionation in patients with advanced stage disease who undergo mastectomy followed by local and regional nodal irradiation (RNI) is lacking. In this retrospective study, we report late-term effects of 3 weeks post-mastectomy hypofractionated local and RNI with two-dimensional (2D) technique in patients with stage II and III breast cancer. Methods: Between January 1990 and December 2007, 1,770 women with breast cancer who were given radical treatment with mastectomy, systemic therapy and RT at least 10 years ago were included. RT dose was 35 Gy/15 fractions/3 weeks to chest wall by two tangential fields and 40 Gy in same fractions to supraclavicular fossa (SCF) and internal mammary nodes (IMNs). SCF and IMNs dose was prescribed at dmax and 3 cm depth, respectively. Chemotherapy and hormonal therapy was given in 64% and 74% patients, respectively. Late-term toxicities were assessed with the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) scores and LENT-SOMA scales (the Late Effects Normal Tissue Task Force-Subjective, Objective, Management, Analytic scales). Results: Mean age was 48 years (range, 19 to 75 years). Median follow-up was 12 years (range, 10 to 27 years). Moderate/marked arm/shoulder pain was reported by 254 (14.3%) patients. Moderate/marked shoulder stiffness was reported by 219 (12.3%) patients. Moderate/marked arm edema was seen in 131 (7.4%) patients. Brachial plexopathy was not seen in any patient. Rib fractures were noted in 6 (0.3%) patients. Late cardiac and lung toxicity was seen in 29 (1.6%) and 23 (1.3%) patients, respectively. Second malignancy developed in 105 (5.9%) patients. Conclusion: RNI with 40 Gy/15 fractions/3 weeks hypofractionation with 2D technique seems safe and comparable to historical data of conventional fractionation (ClinicalTrial.gov Registration No. NCT04175821).
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) represent a class of small non-coding regulatory RNAs that play important roles in normal hematopoiesis, including erythropoiesis. Although studies have identified several miRNAs that regulate erythroid commitment and differentiation, we do not understand the mechanism by which the crucial erythroid transcription factors, GATA-1and NF-E2 directly regulate and control differentiation via miRNA pathways. In this study, we identified miR-199b-5p as a key regulator of human erythropoiesis, and its expression was up-regulated during the erythroid differentiation of K562 cells. Furthermore, the increase of miR-199b-5p in erythroid cells occurred in a GATA-1- and NF-E2-dependent manner during erythrocyte maturation. Both GATA-1 and NF-E2 bound upstream of the miR-199b gene locus and activated its transcription. Forced expression of miRNA-199b-5p in K562 cells affected erythroid cell proliferation and maturation. Moreover, we identified c-Kit as a direct target of miR-199b-5p in erythroid cells. Taken together, our results establish a functional link among the erythroid transcription factors GATA-1/NF-E2, miR-199b-5p and c-Kit, and provide new insights into the coupling of transcription and post-transcription regulation in erythroid differentiation.
The purpose of this study was to perform a clinical test using ez NANOsence II RGP contact lenses for the effects of visual acuity and cornea on subjects with abnormal refraction status. One hundred twenty one adults (twenty nine males, ninety two females, range = 17 to 43, mean = 22.86) were recorded. The subject's history including, the symptoms from previous lens wear, were studied. The subjects were observed, both pre and post lens wear, for any symptoms and signs of change of the eye. The Visual acuity and the binocular status were tested at the far distance using the contact lens. The refraction test was performed on the naked eye using the objective method (Topcon KR-8100, Japan). The Stereopsis test was performed at the near distance after contact lens wear by the Titmus fly (Stereo Optical Co., U.S.A) and TNO (TECH, The netherlands). The contrast sensitivity diagnosis was performed at 1m distance after contact lens wear by the contrast sensitivity chart (pelli-Robertson, USA). The corneal topography was analyzed on the naked eye after lens wear by ORB scan (Bausch Lomb, U.S.A.). The ultra structure of surface on the contact lens was observed using SEM (JMS-5800, Japan). The chemical component's of the contact lens was analyzed by EDS program. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The longer of contact lens wear period, The subjects have acquired the most improved visual function. 2. Subjects had experienced few side effects wearing the contact lenses. 3. The lenses were easy to use by the subjects. 4. The longer of contact lens wear period, the power of cornea had more decrease. but the base curve of cornea had more increase and corneal astigmatism was decrease (p<0.01). Also, the thickness of corneal center was few decrease. 5. Longer periods of using the contact lens showed stereopsis and contrast sensitivity at more normal values. 6 The corneal topographical after lens wear showed most subjects with similar morphology for different wear periods. 7. The surface ultrastructure of the new and used contact lens was the similar fine shape. 8. The chemical component's of in the new and used contact appeared to have similar results. In conclusion, this study showed that the surface ultrastructure and chemical component's of the new and used contact lens are similar. In addition, the subjects had improved the quality of vision and few experienced any side effects during long periods of contact lens wear. Also they have decrease of corneal astigmatism during the long period of lens wear. Our test has showed that the chemical composition and fine structure of contact lens have related to the visual function on contact lens wearer. In this paper, we suggested that ez NANOsence II RGP contact lenses had a moderate effect for correcting vision of abnormal refraction eye.
In this experiment American Summer Pairman apple was selected as test fruit in order to study the effect of sub-atmospheric pressure storage in the apple. keeping a certain pressure condition, a new sub-atmospheric pressure system was designed and constructed in which fruits were stored at $25^{\circ}C$ under two different atmospheric pressure conditions such as Normal Atmospheric Pressure (NAP) and Sub-Atmospheric Pressure (SAP). Moreover, they were divided into plots of 5% and 0% of $CO_2$, on the basis of gas composition. Under these conditions, the amount of respiration and ethylene evolution, and the changes of intercellular gas composition and organic components were investigated throughout the storage. The results obtained are as follows: (1) The intercellular gas was exhausted so rapidly by the SAP treatment that the gas equilibrium in the tissues reached within 5 minutes. (2) The amount of respiration was found to be higher in plots of NAP than SAP, and under the conditions, controlling $CO_2$ content, plots of $CO_2$ 5% were lower in the amount of respiration than $CO_2$ 0%. The climateric rise was revealed more slowly in plots of the SAP than NAP. These results indicate that the SAP treatment was an efficient method for controlling the respiration of fruits. Furthermore, these results were also realized with the results of the respiratory quotient (R.Q) and intercellular gas composition. (3) Evolution of ethylene, the ripening hormone in plant, was shown the similar tendency to the climacteric pattern of respiration; at the stage of climacteric maximum, the maximun amount of ethylene was found earlier in plots of NAP than SAP, and post climacteric stage was prolonged in the plots of the SAP compared to those of the NAP. The ethylene concentration in tissue appeared lower in plots of the SAP than NAP, which might suggest that the SAP treatment was caused to restriction of ethylene evolution. (4) Effects of the SAP treatment mentioned hitherto were proved also with the test of the external appearance such as changes of color and freshness, firmness, rotting and weight loss. (5) In the investigation of organic components, vitamin C and organic acids varied less in plots of SAP than NAP. Specially, it was remarkable that the loss of malic acid was least decreased by the SAP treatment. These effects of the SAP treatment were distinctive in the changes of the ratios of malic and citric acid to total acid, and the ratios of free sugar to free acid.

Purpose: To evaluate the short term clinical result of ACL reconstruction with autologous hamstring tendon using Cross pin and Graft Tensioner and to seek way to resolve the experienced technical problems. Materials and Methods: From January 2008 to March 2009, 35 patients who had been treated arthroscopic ACL reconstruction were enrolled. The femoral side of ACL graft was fixed with Cross pin. The tibial side of graft was fixed with Intrafix and post-tie. The graft was tensioned with Graft Tensioner at 80N. We analyzed the clinical, radiographic results and complications. Results: IKDC subjective score and Lysholm score improved to 89.1 and 91.4 points. Also, Pivot shift test and One-leg hop test showed good results postoperatively. Side to side difference using KT-1000 arthrometer and Telos stress radiography improved compared with normal limb to $2.8{\pm}1.6$ mm and $2.6{\pm}1.3$ mm, respectively. The femoral tunnel enlarged to $2.3{\pm}1.1$ mm. Soft tissue irritation and femoral tunnel-graft harness length mismatch, femoral tunnel-cross pin tunnel mismatch were happened as peri-operative complications. Conclusion: Using of Cross pin and Graft Tensioner for ACL reconstruction with hamstring tendon is one of the good method for obtaining stability in short-term clinical result. But to reduce femoral tunnel-cross pin mismatch, it needs to shorten femoral bone tunnel and to create cross pin tunnel as vertical as possible. And to reduce femoral tunnel-graft harness mismatch, it needs to advance position rod further 3 mm when to create femoral tunnel.
This paper critically reviews the previous discussion over public engagement with science and technology by Science and Technology Studies literatures with a focus on justification and acceptance. Recent studies pointed out that the "participatory turn" after the late 1990s was followed by confusion and disagreement over the meaning and agency of public engagement. Their discussion over the reproduction of the ever-present boundary between science and society along with so-called late modernity and post-normal science and sometimes through the very processes of public engagement draws fresh attention to the old problem: how can lay participation in decision-making be justified, even if we agree that privileging the position of experts in governance of science and technology is no longer justified? So far STS have focused on two conditions for participatory turn-1) uncertainties inherent in experts' ways of knowing and 2) practicability of lay knowledge. This paper first explicated why such discussion has not been logically sufficient nor successful in promoting a wide and well-thought-out acceptance of public engagement. Then the paper made a preliminary attempt to explain what new types of expertise can support the construction and sustainment of participatory governance in science and technology by focusing on one case of lay participation. The particular case discussed by the paper revolves around the actions of a civil organization and an activist who led legal and regulatory changes in wind power development in Jeju Special Self-governing Province. The paper analyzed the types of expertise constructed to be effective and legitimate during the constitution of participatory energy governance and the local society's support for it. The arguments of this paper can be summarized as follows. First, an appropriate basis of the normative claim that science and technology governance should make participatory turn cannot be drawn from the essential characteristics of lay publics-as little as of experts. Second, the type of 'expertise' which can justify participatory governance can only be constructed a posteriori as a result of the practices to re-construct the boundaries between factual statements and value judgment. Third, an intermediary expertise, which this paper defines as a type of expertise in forming human-nonhuman associations and their new pathways for circulations, made significant contribution in laying out the legal and regulatory foundation for revenue sharing in Jeju wind power development. Fourth, experts' conventional ways of knowing need to be supplemented, not supplanted, by lay expertise. Ultimately, the paper calls for the necessity to extend STS discussion over governance toward following the actors. What needs more thorough analysis is such actors' narratives and practices to re-construct the boundaries between the past and present, facts and values, science and society. STS needs a renewed focus on the actual sites of conflicts and decision-making in discussing participatory governance.
