  • Selective laser melting (SLM) is an additive manufacturing process by melting metallic powders and stacking into layers, and can product complex shapes or near-net-shape (NNS) that are difficult to product by conventional processes. Also, SLM process is able to raise the efficiency of production by creating a streamlined manufacturing process. For manufacturing in SLM process using Ti-6Al-4V powder, analysis of microstructural evolution and evaluation of mechanical properties are essential because of rapid melting and solidification process of powders according to high laser power and rapid scan speed. In addition, it requires a post-processing because the soundness and mechanical properties are degraded by defects such as pore, un-melted powder, lack-of-fusion, etc. In this study, hot isostatic press (HIP) was conducted as a post-processing on SLM-printed Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Microstructure of post-processed Ti-6Al-4V alloy was compared to as-built Ti-6Al-4V, and the evolution of quasi-static (Vickers hardness, room temperature tensile characteristic) and dynamic (high-cycle fatigue characteristic) mechanical properties were analyzed.

  • 기후변화의 가장 큰 원인 중 하나로 지목되는 이산화탄소의 배출량을 절감하기 위해 제안된 Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) 전체공정의 에너지 및 비용저감이 시급한 현 시점에서 효율적인 연계공정의 도출이 중요하며 본 연구에서는 연소 후 습식아민 공정을 이용한 포집공정과 압축공정의 간의 연계를 통해 에너지를 저감할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 이는 기기적 증기 재압축 시스템 을 적용하여 압축기에 사용되는 전기에너지를 열에너지의 형태로 변환함으로써 포집공정에 필요한 리보일러의 에너지 사용량을 감소시키는 방법이다. 본 공정개선안은 압축기에 필요한 추가적인 투자비용 및 전기에너지를 고려하더라도 고압의 이산화탄소를 생산함과 동시에 전체적인 에너지 사용량을 절감시키는 장점이 있다. 또한 본 연구에서는 실제 Test Bed의 운전 결과를 통한 모델을 활용함으로써 보다 신뢰성 있는 절감 효과를 제안하고자 한다.

음료가공을 위한 쌀 품종별 품질 특성 비교 (Comparison of Quality Properties of Rice Cultivars for Beverage Processing)

  • The properties of rice were studied on five rice cultivars (Ilpumbyeo, Samkwang, Goami-4, Dodamssal, and Thai rice), and employed two kinds of saccharification treatment methods (treatment I : rice shape, treatment II: grinding rice shape). Thai rice showed differences in width and length when compared to other cultivars of rice, and the Goami 4 had the lowest thousand-grain weight. The Goami4 and Dodamssal each showed high contents of amylose and resistant starch, and the water absorption rate was close to maximum at 90 minutes as well as the highest level of Goami 4 at all times. The qualities of highest water-binding capacity, solubility and swelling power was most significant in Thai rice. The lowest hardness level of wet rice resulted in the lowest hydration-related characteristics. High amylose content rice, in particular, showed low sugar content and slightly increased sugar content as the saccharification process improved (treatment II). On the other hand, high amylose cultivars had the same high degree of hardness as boiled rice. From these results, the Dodamssal was found to have the lowest viscosity at all temperatures but highest viscosity during the saccharification process, suggesting it may be successfully implemented as a thickener in rice beverage processing. The purpose of this study was to attempt to provide basic data on the development of rice beverage manufacturing technology, based upon the quality characteristics related to beverage processing of rice cultivars.

섬유금속적층판의 경화 시 발생하는 열 잔류응력에 관한 연구 (Thermal residual stress behavior in fiber metal laminates)

  • 섬유금속적층판(Fiber Metal Laminates, 이하 FML)에서 알루미늄과 유리섬유/에폭시 복합재료 사이의 열팽창 계수의 차이는 경화공정 시 FML내부에 열 잔류응력을 남기게 되며, 이러한 열 잔류응력은 FML의 피로특성과 항복강도에 영향을 주게 된다. 잔류응력을 예측하기 위해 두 가지 실험법이 제안 되었으며, 이론식을 통해 그 결과를 예측하고, 실제 실험을 수행하여 그 값을 확인 하였다. 또한, 열 잔류응력의 제거 및 응력의 역전을 위하여 후-인발 가공이 수행 되었으며, 가공 이후 발생한 FML내의 잔류응력이 측정 되었다. 예측된 열 잔류응력 결과와 실험을 통한 값이 일치함을 보이며, 후-인발 가공을 통하여 열 잔류응력 제거 및 항복강도의 증가가 발생하였다.

MOD법에 의한 강유전성 $Sr_xBi_yTa_2O_{9+\alpha}$(SBT) 박막의 제조 및 후열처리 효과에 관한 연구 (Fabrication and Post-Annealing Effects of Ferroelectric $Sr_xBi_yTa_2O_{9+\alpha}$(SBT) Thin Films by MOD Process)

  • Ferroelectric $Sr_xBi_yTa_2O_{9+\alpha}$/(0.7$\leqSr\leq1.0,\; 2.0\leqBi\leq2.6)$ solutions were prepared by MOD (Metalorganic Deposition) process. These solutions were made into thin films with thickness ranging from 1500~2000${\AA}$ by spin coating. The phase transformation of the SBT thin films by variation of annealing temperature and annealing time were observed using high temperature XRD and SEM. The crystallization and grain growth of SBT thin film were accomplished at $800^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes after deposition of Pt top electrode by sputtering to prevent electrical breakdown. Ferroelectric properties of the SBT thin films were measured in the range of $\pm$3V\; and\; \pm5V$. The specimen with composition ratio of Sr/Bi/Ta (0.8/2.4/2.0) has the excellent ferroelectric properties ; $2P_r = 10.5,\; 13.2\muC/cm^2 \;at\; \pm3V\; and\; \pm5V$ respectively. Observing the post annealed Pt/SBT/Pt interface by SEM, it was found that Pt electrode sputtered on to the SBT thin film penetrated into the hollow on the SBT thin film, thus decreasing the effective insulation thickness. The effective insulation thickness recovered by post annealing, and this was confirmed by leakage current density measurement.

The Effect of Ginseng on Muscle Injury and Inflammation

  • The effect of Panax ginseng administration in muscle inflammatory process induced after eccentric exercise, that causes myofibrillar disruption, was studied. Changes in lipid peroxidation, inflammation, glycogen levels in muscle and release of myocellular proteins to blood were measured. The analyses were performed immediately after eccentric exercise and over week since this period are necessary for the muscle damage-repair cycle. The ginseng extract $(100\;mg\;kg^{-1})$ was orally administered to rats for three months, before the eccentric exercise performance. The results showed the protective role of ginseng against skeletal muscle damage. This effect could be associated with their membrane stabilising capacity since creatine kinase (CK) activity was significantly decreased 96 h post-exercise from $523{\pm}70\;to\;381{\pm}53$ and 120 h post-exercise from $443{\pm}85\;to\;327{\pm}75$ in treated animals. ${\beta}-glucuronidase$ activity, as indicator of inflammation, showed a significant reduction of about $15-25\%$ in soleus, vastus and triceps in these post-exercise times. The lipid peroxidation, measured by malondyaldehyde levels, was significantly decreased in the 24 h postexercise period in soleus and vastus intermedius muscles and on the recovery period. Finally ginseng administration reduced significantly the decrease of the glycogen levels immediately after exercise and when the regenerative process took place (72-168 h post exercise). Collectively, the results have showed that ginseng did not inhibit the vital inflammatory response process associated with the muscle damage-repair cycle but presumably ameliorate the injury.

  • application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) 및 system on chip (SoC) 설계 시 디지털 회로는 클럭에 동기화되어 작동한다. 칩 설계 시, place & route (P&R)에서 설계 조건과 타이밍 조건, 클럭의 동기화 여부 등을 고려한다. P&R에서 클럭 경로에 대한 delay를 줄이기 위해, clock tree synthesis (CTS) 기법을 이용한다. 본 논문에서는 사전 클럭트리 합성 가능 여부 판단을 위한 shallow-CTS 알고리즘을 소개한다. 오픈 소스 Parser-Verilog를 사용하여 register transfer level (RTL) 합성가능한 Verilog를 파싱하여, Pre-CTS와 Post-CTS 단계를 진행하고, 가장 긴 clock path와 버퍼 삽입 전후의 표준편차를 비교하여 CTS의 정확도에 대해 분석한다. 본 논문에서 시간 투입이 많이 되는 licensed EDA tool을 사용하여 CTS 결과를 확인하지 않고, RTL 수준에서 사전 클럭 트리 합성 검증 방법을 제공하여 비용 및 시간문제를 감소할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Influence of modification in core building procedure on fracture strength and failure patterns of premolars restored with fiber post and composite core

  • PURPOSE. The influence of the modified process in the fiber-reinforced post and resin core foundation treatment on the fracture resistance and failure pattern of premolar was tested in this study. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty-six human mandibular premolars were divided into 4 groups (n = 9). In group DCT, the quartz fibre post (D.T. Light-post) was cemented with resin cement (DUO-LINK) and a core foundation was formed with composite resin (LIGHT-CORE). In group DMO and DMT, resin cement (DUO-LINK) was used for post (D.T. Lightpost) cementation and core foundation; in group DMO, these procedures were performed simultaneously in one step, while DMT group was accomplished in separated two steps. In group LCT, the glass fiber post (LuxaPost) cementation and core foundation was accomplished with composite resin (LuxaCore-Dual) in separated procedures. Tooth were prepared with 2 mm ferrule and restored with nickel-chromium crowns. A static loading test was carried out and loads were applied to the buccal surface of the buccal cusp at a 45 degree inclination to the long axis of the tooth until failure occurred. The data were analyzed with MANOVA (${\alpha}$= .05). The failure pattern was observed and classified as either favorable (allowing repair) or unfavorable (not allowing repair). RESULTS. The mean fracture strength was highest in group DCT followed in descending order by groups DMO, DMT, and LCT. However, there were no significant differences in fracture strength between the groups. A higher prevalence of favorable fractures was detected in group DMT but there were no significant differences between the groups. CONCLUSION. The change of post or core foundation method does not appear to influence the fracture strength and failure patterns.

의료서비스 프로세스 혁신을 위한 환자경험과 호오손 효과 (Patient Experience and the Hawthorne Effect on Healthcare Service Process Innovation)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the Hawthorne effect on healthcare service process innovation, by investing the difference between checklist items of patients and doctors on direct clinical observations (DCO) and the retrospective clinical review (RCR). Methods: The data set consisted of 30 patients and 30 doctors respondents. T-tests were used to perform a comparative analysis of DCO and RCR items between patients and doctors by pre and post examinations. Results: The results indicate that there was a difference between the non-prior notice checklist items of the patients and doctors, while there was no difference of the post-examination checklist items between the patients and doctors. Conclusion: This study provides useful information and can be applied to the improvement of patient experience through healthcare service process innovation. The results of this study also offer practical insights about how hospitals can motivate providers to participate in healthcare service process for improved quality care by the Hawthorne effect. The study contributes to the existing knowledge of the Hawthorne effect for effective strategies for providing quality care.

적층 성형 과정에서 고립 체적의 효율적 계산 (Efficient Calculation of Trapped Volumes in Layered Manufacturing Process)

  • Prototypes of a design are always needed for the purpose of visualization and evaluation in the aspect of manufacturability functionality, and aesthetic appearance. Since the prototyping process requires a significant amount of cost and time, various rapid prototyping processes are recently being introduced in the process. However, it is usually necessary for a part built up by a rapid prototyping system to be refined by a post-processing process, in which the stair steps on the surfaces, the support structures (if they exist), and the unprocessed material are eliminated. This post-processing is usually done manually and is a time-consuming task. Especially, eliminating the trapped volumes, the volume of the unprocessed material entrapped by the solidified portion, is sometimes impossible in some processes. This study provides a designer with a tool to detect the existence and to calculate the quantity of the trapped volumes at the given build-up direction, so that the proper build-up direction is chosen or the part is built by pieces to avoid the problems caused by the trapped volumes in advance. Since the proposed algorithm can efficiently calculate the amount of the trapped volumes at any build-up direction, it has the potential of such application as optimizing the build-up direction to minimize the trapped volumes.
