In this paper, we describe an intelligent monitoring and control system for pick-up/delivery service. This system applies geographical information system(GIS), global positioning system(GPS) and wireless communication technologies for managing pick-up/delivery operations more effectively. It consists of three subsystems, pick-up/delivery sequence planning system, pick-up/delivery monitoring system, and PDA execution system. Pick-up/delivery sequence planning system generates routes and schedules for pick-up/delivery using GIS and optimization techniques. Pick-up/delivery monitoring system monitors current positions of vehicles and actual pick-up/delivery results as compared with planned routes and visit times, while PDA execution system transmits information for vehicles positions and actual pick-up/delivery results using GPS and wireless communication technologies. The intelligent monitoring and control system is currently being used for the pick-up parcel service in a local post office of Korea Post.

Objective: To determine whether diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) is effective in monitoring tumor response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with osteosarcoma. Materials and Methods: Twenty-nine osteosarcoma patients (20 men and 9 women; mean age, 17.6 ± 7.8 years) who had undergone magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and DKI before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy were included. Tumor volume, apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), mean diffusivity (MD), mean kurtosis (MK), and change ratio (ΔX) between pre-and post-treatment were calculated. Based on histologic response, the patients were divided into those with good response (≥ 90% necrosis, n = 12) and those with poor response (< 90% necrosis, n = 17). Several MRI parameters between the groups were compared using Student's t test. The correlation between image indexes and tumor necrosis was determined using Pearson's correlation, and diagnostic performance was compared using receiver operating characteristic curves. Results: In good responders, MDpost, ADCpost, and MKpost values were significantly higher than in poor responders (p < 0.001, p < 0.001, and p = 0.042, respectively). The ΔMD and ΔADC were also significantly higher in good responders than in poor responders (p < 0.001 and p = 0.01, respectively). However, no significant difference was observed in ΔMK (p = 0.092). MDpost and ΔMD showed high correlations with tumor necrosis rate (r = 0.669 and r = 0.622, respectively), and MDpost had higher diagnostic performance than ADCpost (p = 0.037) and MKpost (p = 0.011). Similarly, ΔMD also showed higher diagnostic performance than ΔADC (p = 0.033) and ΔMK (p = 0.037). Conclusion: MD is a promising biomarker for monitoring tumor response to preoperative chemotherapy in patients with osteosarcoma.

This study was surveyed to know changing flora between pre and post of restoration in cheonggyechon. As results, it was surveyed families 33, species 94 in 2003 and families 39, species 156 in 2005. In 2006, it was surveyed families 38, species 171. This result shows that cheonggyechon is unstable initial condition in restored stream ecosystem. Also, Naturalized species was 19 species in 2003 and it was respectively 44, 46 species in 2005, 2006. Hazard species of ecosystem was in common 3 species in three surveys. Recently, as time goes by, introduced species are increasing. And succession has mainly been progressed by one year or binary herbs. To administer restored stream ecosystem, monitoring is essential. Therefore, continuous monitoring about Naturalized species and Hazard species of ecosystem is also very important. Further, Because change of vegetation on pre and post of Restoration in Cheonggyechon Stream is very important, Monitoring will have been surveyed continuously.

In this research a monitoring system for turning using NC information and the current of feed motor as a monitoring signal was developed. The overall system consists of modules such as learning process, NC data transmission, generation of forecast information, signal acquisition, monitoring and post process. In the learning process, the reference data and the cutting force equation necessary for monitoring are obtained from the accumulated monitoring results. In the generation of forecast information, the information of forecasted cutting forces is acquired from the cutting force equation and NC program and appended to each NC block as a monitor code. Reliability of monitoring is improved by using the monitor code in the real-time monitoring. Monitoring module is divided into two parts : the off-line monitoring where errors of NC program are checked and the on-line monitoring where the level of motor current is monitored during cutting operations. If the actual current level exceeds the limit value provided by the monitor code in the level monitoring, it is recognized as abnormal. In the event of abnormal status, the post processor sends the emergency stop signal to NC controller to stop the operation. Actual experiments have shown that the developed monitoring system works well.

The purpose of site monitoring and investigation is to offer the basic data for performance assessment and design of low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste(LILW) disposal facility by monitoring variations of main site properties continually in the stage of pre-operation, operation and post-closure. Main contents of site monitoring are as follows. In the stage of pre-operation, suitability evaluation for disposal facility and monitoring for constructing and operating disposal facility are performed. In the operation period, monitoring is performed including surroundings to research the influence to environment with operating disposal facility and operate safely and efficiently. In the post-closure period, monitoring about major site properties is performed to prevent the effect of radioactive waste from disposal facility and to secure long-term safety.

For safe and stable operations of power plants, it is essential to monitor closely crucial measurement values related to power plant trips. In this paper, an intelligent power plant operating state monitoring technique enabling the operating crew member to monitor conveniently the status of the important measurement values and to perceive almost instantly the significance of the implications of those measurement values is developed. The proposed technique is called a "POST(Plant Operating State Tracking) Chart" technique and provides the foundations in developing an intelligent and integrated power plant operating state monitoring support system called the "P-OASIS"(Plant Operation Assessment and Support Intelligent System). The P-OASIS is applied to a thermal power plant of 500[MW] capacity and exhibited impressive performances.

Objective: Flow diverting stents (FDS) are increasingly used for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms. While FDS can provide flow diversion of parent vessels, their high metal surface coverage can cause thromboembolism. Transcranial Doppler (TCD) emboli monitoring can be used to identify subclinical embolic phenomena after neurovascular procedures. Limited data exists regarding the use of TCDs for emboli monitoring in the periprocedural period after FDS placement. We evaluated the rate of positive TCDs microembolic signals and stroke after FDS deployment at our institution. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 105 patients who underwent FDS treatment between 2012 and 2016 using the Pipeline stent (Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN, USA). Patients were pretreated with aspirin and clopidogrel. All patients were therapeutic on clopidogrel pre-operatively. TCD emboli monitoring was performed immediately after the procedure. Microembolic signals (mES) were classified as "positive" (<15 mES/hour) and "strongly positive" (>15 mES/hour). Clinical stroke rates were determined at 2-week and 6-month post-operatively. Results: A total of 132 intracranial aneurysms were treated in 105 patients. TCD emboli monitoring was "positive" in 11.4% (n=12) post-operatively and "strongly positive" in 4.8% (n=5). These positive cases were treated with heparin drips or modification of the antiplatelet regimen, and TCDs were repeated. Following medical management modifications, normalization of mES was achieved in 92% of cases. The overall stroke rates at 2-week and 6-months were 3.8% and 4.8%, respectively. Conclusions: TCD emboli monitoring may help early in the identification of thromboembolic events after flow diversion stenting. This allows for modification of medical therapy and, potentially, preventionf of escalation into post-operative strokes.

Line to ground faults by deterioration of insulators has frequently occurred in power system, and the main cause is surface contamination of the insulators. The contamination of insulator is analyzed by monitoring the surface leakage current flowing them. The suspension insulator is monitored by installation of a zero-phase current sensor(ZCT), but the line-post insulator is impossible to apply the same method because of its large diameter structure. This paper proposed a detection method of surface leakage current for a line-post insulator, and it can easily be applied to new and/or built insulators. The leakage current is indirectly calculated from the potential difference between the metal electrode attached on the surface of insulator and the ground connector. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, the leakage current is compared as a function of contamination condition controlled by the density of NaCl solution. The leakage current is proportioned to the density of NaCl solution, and the voltage detected by the electrode showed the same trend. From the experimental results, we designed and fabricated a monitoring device which is composed of a detection electrode, signal converter, microprocessor, and ZigBee, and its measurement range is $10{\mu}A{\sim}5mA$.

With the increasing demand for high-speed transmission systems, adaptive equalizers have been widely used in receivers to overcome the limited bandwidth of channels. In order to reduce the cost for testing high-speed receiver chips, on-chip eye-opening monitoring (EOM) technique which measures the eye-opening of data waveform inside the chip can be employed. In this paper, a 10-Gb/s adaptive 2-tap look-ahead decision feedback equalizer (DFE) with EOM function is proposed. The proposed EOM circuit can be applied to look-ahead DFEs while existing EOM techniques cannot. The magnitudes of the post-cursors are measured by monitoring the eye of received signal, and coefficients of DFE are calculated using them by proposed adaptation algorithm. The circuit designed in 90nm CMOS technology and the algorithm are verified with post-layout simulation. The DFE core occupies $110{\times}95{\mu}m^2$ and consumes 11mW in 1.2V supply voltage.
