This paper deals with experiments for dynamic characteristics and performance evaluation of the 3-axis fine positioning stage developed in [1]. The features of the developed fine positioning stage are the long stroke due to the magnetically preloaded PZT actuators, the minimum motion crosstalk due to the use of a ball contact mechanism and the compact design. The dynamic characteristics of the actuator and the stage are tested with the preload changed in order to validate the actuator and the stage design. Performance evaluation is also made for the PZT actuators as well as the stage positioning accuracy. Experimental results show that the developed stage is accurate enough to be used for nanometer positioning.
This paper analyzed twenty-six production-related KPI(Key Performance indicator) factors of business diagnosis, such as personnel, equipment, materials, operations and quality affecting company business competition to 186 small machinery manufacturers in 2010. Also, we explained the concept of Business Positioning and divided research subjects into four Business Positioning Groups formed break-even point ratio & fixed cost ratio to sales and then we compared between the 4 groups using Logistic Regression analysis by SAS statistical software package. The objective of this study is two-fold. The first is to find out production-related KPI factor of superior Business Positioning Group. The second is to suggest improvement ways for small manufacturers in order to get better profitable Business Positioning.
Recently, High accuracy and precision are required in various industrial field especially, semiconductor manufacturing apparatus, Ultra precision positioning apparatus, Information field and so on. Positioning technology is a very important one among them. As such technology has been rapidly developed, this field needs the positioning accuracy as high as submicron. It is expected that the accuracy of 10nm and 1nm is required in precision work and ultra precision work field, respectively by the beginning of 2000s. High speed and low vibration are also needed. This work deals with the design method and control system of Ultra precision positioning apparatus. Control performance and stability analysis were performed in advance by modeling and designing the controller with Simulink.
Precise Point Positioning-Real Time Kinematic (PPP-RTK) is a high accuracy positioning method that combines RTK and PPP to overcome the limitations on service coverage of RTK and convergence time of PPP. PPP-RTK provides correction data in the form of State Space Representation (SSR), unlike RTK, which provides measurement-based Observation Space Representation (OSR). Due to this, PPP-RTK has an advantage that it can transmit less data than RTK. So, recently, several techniques for PPP-RTK have been proposed. However, in order to utilize PPP-RTK techniques, performance analysis of these in a real environment is essential. In this paper, we implement the local network PPP-RTK and analyze the positioning performance according to the distance within 100 km from the reference station in Korea. As results of experiment, the horizontal and vertical 95% errors of local network PPP-RTK were 6.25 cm and 5.86 cm or less, respectively.
In this paper, impacts of tropospheric delay gradient correction on PPP positioning performance were analyzed. A correction for tropospheric delay error due to the gradient was created and applied using external data, and reference station data were collected on a sunny day and a rainy day to analyze the GPS only dual-frequency PPP positioning results. As a result, on the sunny day, the convergence time was about 35 minutes and the final 3D position error was 10 cm, regardless of whether the correction for the tropospheric delay error by the gradient was applied. On the other hand, on the rainy day, the 3D position error converges only when the correction was applied, and the convergence time was about 34 minutes. Furthermore, the final 3D position error was improved from 30 cm to 10 cm. In addition, the analysis of the PPP by reference station location on the rainy day showed that the PPP positioning performance was improved when the correction was applied to a user located in an area where the weather changes.
The telematics positioning testbed is an infrastructure to test and verify positioning technology, the sub-component of telernatics system. The positioning testbed provides the environment of performance analysis for acquisition of static and dynamic positioning information using telematics vehicle. This testbed consists of onboard positioning system, positioning reference station and lab positioning server. The onboard positioning system equipped in telematics vehicle, consists of target positioning system, reference positioning system, and analysis tool. A equipment acquiring high precision positioning data obtained from GPS combined with IMU was set as a reference positioning system. Analysis tool compares observed positioning data with high precision positioning information from a reference positioning system, and processes positioning information. Positioning reference station is RTK system used for reducing atmosphere error, and it transmits corrected information to reference positioning system. Positioning server which is located at laboratory manages positioning database and provides monitoring data to integrated testbed operating system. It is expected that the testbed supports commercialization of telernatics technology and services, integrated testing among component technology and verification.
Existing radio positioning systems have a drawback that the attitude of user's tag is difficult to be determined. Although forward link angle of arrival (FLAOA) technology that uses measurements of array antenna arranged in a tag among the angle of arrival (AOA) technologies can estimate attitude and positioning of tags, it cannot extend the estimated results into three-dimensional (3D) results due to complex non-linear model displayed because of the effects of 3D positioning and attitude in tags. This paper proposed a radio navigation technique that determines 3D attitude and positioning via FLAOA / time of arrival (TOA) integration. According to the order of determining attitude and positioning, two integration techniques were proposed. To analyze the performance of the proposed technique, MATLAB-based simulations were used to verify the performance. The simulation results showed that the first proposed method, TOA-FLAOA integrated technique, showed about 0.15 m of positioning error, and $2-3^{\circ}$ of attitude error performances regardless of the positioning space size whereas the second method, differenced FLAOA-TOA integrated technique, revealed a problem that a positioning error became larger as the size of the positioning space became larger.
The localization of mobile robot in environment is a major concern in mobile robot navigation. So, many kinds of localization techniques have been researched for several years. Among them, the positioning system using ultrasound has received attention. Most of these ultrasonic positioning systems to synchronize the transmitters and receivers are used for RF (Radio Frequencies). However, due to the use of RF, the interference problems can not be avoided and the performance of radio frequencies directly affects the positioning performance. So we proposed the ultrasonic positioning system without synchronizing RF. The proposed system is based on existing USAT (Ultrasonic Satellite System) adopted infrastructure transmitting type, and consists of transmitter and receiver synchronizing modules instead of the radio frequency transmitters and receiver. The ultrasonic transmitters and receivers are synchronized individually by the transmitter and receiver synchronizing modules. In order to calculate the bias between the transmitter and receiver synchronizing modules, new positioning algorithm similar to GPS was proposed. The positioning performance of the improved USAT without synchronizing RF and the validity of the proposed positioning algorithm are verified and evaluated by experiments.
Since the accuracy of Global Positioning System (GPS)-based vehicle positioning system is significantly degraded or does not work appropriately in the urban canyon, the integration techniques of GPS with Inertial Navigation System (INS) have intensively been developed to improve the continuity and reliability of positioning. However, its accuracy is degraded as INS errors are not properly corrected due to the GPS signal blockage. Recently, the image-based positioning techniques have been started to apply for the vehicle positioning for the advanced in processing techniques as well as the increased the number of cars installing the camera. In this study, Single Photo Resection (SPR), which calculates the camera exterior orientation parameters using the Ground Control Points (GCPs,) has been integrated with the INS/GPS for continuous and stable positioning. The INS/GPS/SPR integration was implemented in both of a loosely and a tightly coupled modes, based on the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). In order to analyze the performance of INS/SPR integration during the GPS outage, the simulation tests were conducted with a consideration of factors affecting SPR performance. The results demonstrate that the accuracy of INS/SPR integration is depended on magnitudes of the GCP errors and SPR processing intervals. Additionally, the simulation results suggest some required conditions to achieve accurate and continuous positioning, used the INS/SPR integration.
In the positioning algorithm of two-dimensional planar sensor array, the estimation error of time difference-ofarrival (TDOA) algorithm is difficult to avoid. Thus, how to achieve accurate positioning is a key problem of the positioning technology based on planar array. In this paper, a method of sensor reliability discrimination is proposed, which is the foundation for selecting positioning sensors with small error and excellent performance, simplifying algorithm, and improving positioning accuracy. Then, a positioning model is established. The estimation characteristics of the least square method are fully utilized to calculate and fuse the positioning results, and the non-uniform weighting method is used to correct the weighting factors. It effectively handles the decreased positioning accuracy due to measurement errors, and ensures that the algorithm performance is improved significantly. Finally, the characteristics of the improved algorithm are compared with those of other algorithms. The experiment data demonstrate that the algorithm is better than the standard least square method and can improve the positioning accuracy effectively, which is suitable for vibration detection with large noise interference.
