To improve the performances of Sawyer motors and to regulate yaw rotation, various feedback control methods have been developed. Almost all of these methods require information on the position, velocity or full state of the motor. Therefore, in this paper, a nonlinear observer is designed to estimate the full state of the four forcers in a Sawyer motor. The proposed method estimates the full state using only positional feedback. Generally, Sawyer motors are operated within a yaw magnitude of several degrees; outside of this range, Sawyer motors step out. Therefore, this observer design assumes that the yaw is within ${\pm}90^\b{o}$. The convergence of the estimation error is proven using the Lyapunov method. The proposed observer guarantees that the estimation error globally exponentially converges to zero for all arbitrary initial conditions. Furthermore, since the proposed observer does not require any transformation, it may result in a reduction in the commutation delay. The simulation results show the performance of the proposed observer.
In this paper, the accurate end position control method of ultraprecision machine tool post using piezoelectric material as an micro positonong devics is presented. This method employs the classical PID feedback and uses an additional notch filter which eliminates the resonance characteristics of controlled plant. And the simple predictor is added to make use of the future value of desired input for better tracking performance. To show the feasibilty of proposed method, the PC-based experimental apparacy can be obtained. Using method, Al specimen of diameter 100mm was cut under practical machining condition to test the practicability of proposed method.
This paper presents a force control based on the observer without taking any force or torque measurement from the robot which allows realizing more stable and robust human robot interaction for the developed multi-functional upper limb rehabilitation robot. The robot has four functional training modes which can be classified by the human robot interaction types: passive, active, assistive, and resistive mode. The proposed observer consists of internal disturbance observer and external force observer for distinctive performance evaluation. Since four training modes can be quantitatively identified as impedance variation, position-based impedance control with feedback and feedforward controller was applied to the assistive training mode. The results showed that the proposed sensorless observer estimated cleaner and more accurate force compared to the force sensor and the impedance controller embedded with the proposed observer completed the assistive training mode safely and properly.
This paper deals with the development and application of control algorithms for series elastic relief robots for rescue operations in harsh environment like disasters or battlefield. The joint controller applied in this paper has a cascade structure combining inner loop for torque control and outer loop for position control. The torque loop contains feedforward and feedback controller and disturbance observer for independent, decentralized joint control. The effect of the elastic component and motor dynamics are treated as the nonlinear disturbance and compensated with the disturbance observer of torque controller. For the collision detection, Band Designed Disturbance Observer is configured to recognize/respond to external disturbance robustly in the continuously changing environment. The controller is applied to a 7-dof series elastic manipulator to evaluate the torque tracking and collision detection/response performance.
A hybrid vibration control scheme using ER fluid and PZT patches is proposed. Dynamic characteristics of the beam embedded with the ER fluid can be controled by changing the strength of the electric field applied on the ER fluid, thus provides a mean to avoid the resonance. It was found that active vibration control of the structure embedded with ER fluid failed to suppress the vibration excited with broad band frequency due to the limited change of the dynamic characteristics of the structure. To compensate this limited effect of the control scheme with ER fluid alone, PPF control using PZT patches as sensors and actuators is added to construct a hybrid controller. Experimental results suggests that proposed hybrid controller is effective to suppress the additional resonance vibration that appears when each controller is used alone.
This paper presents a position control strategy for a pump-controlled electro-hydrostatic actuator (EHA) using feedforward control with disturbance compensation. As the disturbance observer is used to estimate nonlinear dynamics of EHA, which has valve-opening conditionals, as well as external disturbances, an additional feedforward control is adopted to achieve rapid response. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified through experiment using an EHA test bench. The proposed controller shows better tracking performance compared with a conventional PID controller.
This paper presents a GA(Genetic Algorithms)-Optical control strategy for the control of the swing motion and the transverse position of the overhead crane. The overhead crane system is defined uncertain due to unknown system parameters such as payload and trolly mass. To control the overhead crane. the GA-Optimal control scheme is suggested. which transfers a trolly to a desired place as fast as possible and minimizes the swing of the payload during the transfer. The genetic algorithms are applied to fine digital optimal feedback gains. A computer simulation demonstrate the performance of the proposed the GA-digital optimal controller for the overhead crane.
This study presents a methodology for simulating a unified approach that controls interaction force between tool and objective by using a synthesis method of robot interacting control law for stabilizing the transient process of motion. Root locus is used to analyze stabilization of motion deviation characteristics. Based on responses of motion deviation, contact force is derived to satisfy exponential stability and we generate control input with respect to motion trajectories and interaction force. Moreover, simulation is applied to experimental application of a Cartesian robot driven by two stepper motors, and the noise of feedback signals is considered as presence of system inaccuracies, and the unified approach of interaction force control is examined precisely.
The time delay in servo control on LonWorks/IP Virtual Device Network (VDN) is highly stochastic in nature. LonWorks/IP VDN induced time delay deteriorates the performance and stability of the real-time distributed control system and hinders an effective preventive and predictive maintenance. Especially in real-time distributed servo applications on the factory floor, timely response is essential for predictive and preventive maintenance. In order to guarantee the stability and performance of the system for effective preventive and predictive maintenance, LonWorks/IP VDN induced time delay needs to be predicted and compensated for. In this paper position control simulation of DC servo motor using Zero Phase Error Tracking Controller (ZPETC) as a feedforward controller, and Internal Model Controllers (IMC) based on Smith predictor with disturbance observer as a feedback controller is performed. The validity of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated by comparing the IMC based on Smith predictor with disturbance observer.
Mareel and Bitmead proved the presence of chaotic signal in random noise by applying dead beat control theory to adaptive mechanism. In this paper robust adaptive theory is proposed. With the property of chaotic signal that has order and law, the proposed theory can enhance the control Performance by applying the recursive algorithm that uses dynamic relation which have small correlation. The performance of proposed algorithm is demonstrated with the computer simulation of position control of electric motor. In this simulation, the adaptive low is adopted to control electric motor and the Presence of chaotic signal in feedback signal is proved by using several method such as time series, fourier spectrum phase portrait method.
