The purpose of this study is to understand the attractiveness of the vinyl record industry and derive implications by analyzing the structure of the industry. A few previous studies pay attention to the rapidly increasing demand for vinyl records, especially from a consumer point of view, and unlike the analysis of the consumption and vinyl record industry, this study focuses on the subjects of production and distribution of vinyl records. This paper collects data through in-depth interviews with experts in the vinyl record industry and various secondary data, which is analyzed by Porter(1980/2008)'s Five Forces Model. According to the analysis, the attractiveness of the vinyl record industry is positive in terms of the appropriate competitive strength in the industry and weak bargaining power of buyers, but negative in terms of the strong bargaining power of new entrants and substitutes. The outcome of this research has significance as basic data implying that companies that are trying to enter the vinyl record industry need to make strategic decisions.

In this study, we derive the extended mild-slope equation in terms of the velocity potential using the Euler-Lagrange equation. First, we follow Kim and Bai (2004) who derive the complementary mild-slope equation in terms of the stream function using the Euler-Lagrange equation and we compare their equation to the existing extended mild-slope equations of the velocity potential. Second, we derive the extended mild-slope equation in terms of the velocity potential using the Euler-Lagrange equation. In the developed equation, the higher-order bottom variation terms are newly developed and found to be the same as those of Massel (1993) and Chamberlain and Porter (1995). The present study makes wide the area of coastal engineering by developing the extended mild-slope equation with a way which has never been used before.

We are developing large arrays of X-ray microcalorimeters for applications in X-ray astronomy. X-ray microcalorimeters can detect the energy of X-rays with extremely high resolution. High-resolution Imaging spectroscopy enabled by these arrays will allow us to study the hot and energetic nature of the Universe through the detection of X-rays from astronomical objects such as neutron stars or black holes. I will introduce the state-of-the-art X-ray microcalorimeters being developed at NASA/GSFC and the future X-ray observatory missions based on microcalorimeters.

현재 국내 초고속인터넷서비스 시장은 기존통신사업자들의 업역 확대와 신규사업자들의 진입에 따라 초경쟁(hyper-competition)상황에 놓여 있다. 이에 본 고에서는 국내 초고속인터넷서비스 시장의 주요 제품으로 등장하고 있는 ADSL 및 Cable Modem 기술을 이용한 서비스의 시장 경쟁상황을 Porter의 산업구조분석 모형(5-force model)의 측면에서 개괄하고, 현재 사업을 전개하고 있는 각 사업자의 서비스 제공 내용 및 가격 현황을 제시한 후 이들의 가격 및 판촉전략 비교를 통해 향후 사업자들이 취할 수 있는 전략방향을 제시하고자 하였다.

This study on filial play therapy training as parent education included 12 experimental group mothers, 11 control group mothers, and their 5-year-old children. Over 5 weeks, experimental group mothers received 2 hours filial therapy training 10 times, twice a week, and 30 minutes home special play 4 times, once a week. Each mother was videotaped playing with her child and completed three self-report instruments : Parental Acceptance Scale(Porter, 1954), Parenting Stress Index(Abidin, 1990), and Child Behavior Checklist(Oh et al., 1997) before and after the training. Pre- and post-test data was analyzed by paired-t test. Filial play therapy training enhanced empathy in adult-child interaction during free play. Significant increases appeared in parental acceptance level of child's feeling and autonomy.

Each mother was videotaped playing with her child and completed three self-report instruments : Parental Acceptance Scale(Porter, 1954), Parenting Stress Index(Abidin, 1990), and Child Behavior Checklist(Oh et al., 1997). These measurements were taken three times : before, immediately after, and 8 weeks after the program. Enhanced empathic interaction and parental acceptance level through filial play therapy training was maintained 8 weeks after the training. Eight weeks after the training, child's behavior problems were significantly reduced in comparison to immediately after the training.

This research explores early mover advantages and performance in the cyber market based on an empirical test. It also examines whether early mover strategic capabilities are able to adopt mutually cumulative relationship in the cyber market. Early movers such as eBay.com and Amazon.com seem to have been able to defy exclusive relationship between strategic capabilities. Compared with their followers such as uBid.com and buy.com, they have been able to adopt strong focus, differentiation, and cost leadership strategies. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the differences in strategic choices based on the strategic capabilities and performance of online firms between early movers and followers. The study reviews early mover advantages and disadvantages, and a strategic typology based on Porter's model, as well as strategic capabilities based on the sand cone model.

In this paper. we present a definition of the term virtual enterprise (VE) and discuss some related terms and concepts. The definition was given based on Porter's Value Chain Theory. Then we discuss some positioning strategies for entering or joining a virtual enterprise from an executive's viewpoint. which show a framework for making decisions on for what. when and how a (real) enterprise need to participate or form a virtual enterprise and whom the partners should be. The major pert of the paper is on underlying information technologies and architectures for building virtual enterprises. Requirements for modeling virtual enterprises and core technologies needed for implementation are discussed. A virtual enterprise reference architecture based on NIIIP's model is presented. Finally we discuss some points that should. addressed from a macroeconomic and public policies viewpoints. These are the issues of IT standardization and investments in IT infrastructure.

Previously T.Porter [3] has given a relative Chinese Remainder Theorem under the hypothesis that given ring R has at least one .tau.-closed maximal ideal (by his notation Ma $x_{\tau}$(R).neq..phi.). In this short paper we drop his overall hypothesis that Ma $x_{\tau}$(R).neq..phi. and give the proof and some related results with this Theorem. In this paper R will always denote a commutative ring with identity element and all modules will be unitary left R-modules unless otherwise specified. Let .tau. be a given hereditarty torsion theory for left R-module category R-Mod. The class of all .tau.-torsion left R-modules, dented by J is closed under homomorphic images, submodules, direct sums and extensions. And the class of all .tau.-torsionfree left R-modules, denoted by F, is closed under taking submodules, injective hulls, direct products, and isomorphic copies ([2], Proposition 1.7 and 1.10).

This study aims to identify predictors of driving cessation among Korean elderly. Data from 2011 Elderly Survey conducted by Ministry of Health and Welfare and Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs were used for the analysis. Based on Webber, Porter, Menec(2010)'s comprehensive theoretical framework for mobility, the model of this study tests five major determinants of driving cessation including financial, psychosocial, environmental, physical and cognitive factors. Results of logistic regression analysis showed that economic status, marital status, contacts with relatives and friends, residential location, taking medication, muscle strength, age, gender, and job were significant predictors of driving cessation of older drivers. Specifically, lower economic status, unmarried status, less contacts with relatives and friends, living in the city, taking medication, weaker muscle strength, older age, female, non-working status were significant risk factors for driving cessation. Practical implications in light of study findings were discussed.
