  • Currently, despite having active movements related to port logistics security, there is lack of awareness, education, and security systems related to port technology. Before implementing port logistics security, a mutual authentication agreement should be reached through the establishment of an integrated network that can share port logistics security information in real time. In order to achieve port competitiveness and strengthen logistics service, establishment of national strategy for logistics security is necessary. However, there is an urgent need to raise the security consciousness among the port logistics organization members and enhance the information security ability which is a crucial feature of the port logistics organization. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the factors affecting the information security capacity of port logistics organization members. Even though the analysis rejected the hypothesis that security regulations affect security awareness, the security activities and security awareness were significantly correlated. It also has a positive impact on the relationship between security norms and security abilities, and security awareness and security abilities.

  • According to the increasing attention to safety and security in maritime shipping, there are diverse security systems in international logistics activities. Although prior studies on maritime transport and port security reviewed security policy and practices in order to provide useful insights for strategic agenda, a few focused on attitude to respond it. Moreover, there are no prior study on a comparative study between continents. To tackle this, this paper compared confrontation attitude to maritime transport and port security between South Korea and European Union. Results identified that maritime shipping security incorporates container cargo security management, logistics security management, logistics security certificate system, and environmental impacts management caused by maritime shipping. Further, the comparison between two countries suggests that South Korea need to take more positive attitude to respond, such as investment in equipment and technologies for maritime shipping security, construction of comprehensive management system, political supports for logistics security, and training and education for safety and security. The results provide useful insights for strategic review of security systems in South Korea, and to help strategic agenda for future improvement.

  • This research focuses on the process improvement of port logistics by using Lean methodology. On the one hand, we firstly analyze the current situation and weakness of the processes in port logistics, and then re-design the current processes by the principles of Lean discipline. Based on the appropriately changed processes, the improvement scheme of port logistics will be figured out. On the other hand, we construct the port logistics system by implementing the improved processes. The port logistics' processes accomplished in steel company will be further assorted and identified. The relationship of wharves process, operational process, shipping process, construction process, quality process, and purchasing process are also defined. Every process has been improved by Lean Tools in order to analyze the value added or non-value added processes, to improve the service level, and to reduce the cycle time, inventory, changing time, re-working and waste. Based on above, the appropriate environment that is suitable to Lean process of port logistics will be established and the modeling that can help to implement the improvement scheme will be figured out.

  • At the present, e-commerce takes the place of existing transaction form in structure in the world trade by advancement of Information Technology and diffusion of Internet. There is no exceptions of this tendency even in industry of maritime and logistics. So, global shipping lines and logistics companies try to construct the e-Business network system for increasing their competitiveness in an are of cyber. However, in Korea, most of companies prefer "final handshake" as the traditional way of transaction to "e-commerce", because they bear a distrust in mind about the outflow of transaction information and security of settlement. So, number of companies using e-commerce is very small, and this situation causes the limited factor for activating the transaction structure of it. The rate of using e-commerce in logistics industry is lower than other industries, even more higher effectiveness is expected when they use it. Especially, it is very necessary not only e-commerce but also e-Logistics which can serve information of freight cost on cargo flow, operation cost and schedule, and tracing information of cargo. Increasing the necessity of e-Logistics, this study research the rate rf using e-Logistics focused on maritime and logistics companies, and analyze the transaction form among members of these industries for improving them. In detail, this paper examine the drivers for activating e-Logistics, and present the effective factors for a successful development of these industries.

  • In this study, the scope of previous logistics security were focused only on port and ship. Because of it now extends to the overall (export and import) supply chain areas and in regards with supply security programs in the international level, it reviewed supply chain security programs categorized them into 'ships and port security system', 'container screening system', 'logistics chain authorization system' which are expanded to be adopted in the international level. The major features of those programs are summarized as in building risk management system, providing information ahead, selectivity test and benefits to AEO authorized companies in the customs administration level. The government and companies which are to ensure supply chain security and trade facilitation in order to cope actively with international customs administrative atmosphere need to do the followings : First, they need to build an intra-government integrated supply chain security and make efforts to conclude AEO MRA in order to increase trade competitiveness among major trading countries. • In this study, AHP analysis was conducted through a survey that was organized by 9 job categories. The results show that sustainable operation risks have the highest priority level among all criteria with management interest having the highest priority level within sustainable operation risks related attributes. The most important risk attributes among stakeholder risks appeared to be asset security and cargo and conveyance security, with education and training being the most important among regulatory risks. Effective management and response to the risks from export controls on strategic trade require an understanding of supply chain security and compliance programs, effective training programs, investments for development of security systems that meet international standards. In addition, the government needs to focus on developing professionals and providing support for companies with compliance programs, working closely with businesses.

  • In this paper, the key performance index for advanced logistics is analyzed, and the specific requirements for the material flow IT services are proposed to improve the world competitiveness of the material flow industries and to implement the advanced logistics in Korea by survey research. The key performance index is classified into three types of efficiency, sustainability and economics, and two classes of enterprise and public for IT services are proposed. In addition to, for case studies, the survey analysis for the Pyeongtaek Port is performed to diagnose the material flow enterprise and to analyze the priorities of the IT services for Port's employee, trade enterprise, public service personnel, and local resident. From the results, to improve the productivity and efficiency of the enterprise, the secure the professional man-power and standardization are needed, and the automation, u-Port, green technology and material flow security for the IT services are required.
