In this study, the Fe3O4/porous carbon composite was synthesized by hydrothermal method for removal of Cu2+ ions and the characteristic of Cu2+ ions removal was performed. The Fe3O4/porous carbon composite was investigated via using SEM, XRD for its morphology and structure. BET analysis was conducted to conform a specific area and pore size distribution of the composite. For the investigation of the performance for removal of Cu2+ ions in the solution, UV-vis spectrometer was used. It suggests that a synergetic effect between magnetic Fe3O4 and porous carbon shows an improvement for removal of Cu2+ ions.
W-Cu composite has been used for the applications requiring both high strength, good thermal and electrical conductivity. A graded combination of W and Cu will reduce thermal stress concerned with heat conduction, maintaining good thermal conductivity and high mechanical strength. In the present work, an attempt was made to fabricate continuous W-Cu FGM by preparing the graded porous structure of W skeleton using spark plasma sintering (SPS) process followed by infiltrating Cu. The graded porous structure was prepared at 150$0^{\circ}C$ for 60s under pressure of 15MPa by SPS process using a graphite mold with varying crr)ss section in the longitudinal direction. Infiltration of Cu was performed at 115$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour under $H_2$. W-Cu composite with graded Cu composition of 14 to 27 wt% was finally prepared. In this process the gradient of composition could be conveniently controlled by varying the gradient of cross sectional area of graphite mold, temperature and pressure.
Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ ceramic coating layer by gas flame spraying was very porous, therefore it could not have wear and corrosion resistance at all. To get a dense and strong coating layer, a method to infiltrate an alloy into the pores of $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$ ceramic coating was investigated. Cu-Ti alloys, which had good wettability and reactivity with $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$ ceramic, were examined for infiltration. Infiltration of the alloys was performed in vacuum at 1100.deg.C. The melt of Cu-50 at % Ti alloy was well penetrated through the porous $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$ coating and tightly sealed the pores, unbounded area and microcracks in the coating. The alloy melt in the pores reacted with $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$ ceramic to produce a suboxide phase, Cu$_{2}$Ti$_{4}$O. This composite layer which was composed of $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$ and Cu$_{2}$Ti$_{4}$O phase had good microstructure and wear and corrosion resistance. Additionally, microstructures at interfaces between coating layers were greatly improved owing to the effect of vacuum heat treating.
Porous Cu with a dispersion of nanoscale $Al_2O_3$ particles is fabricated by freeze-drying $CuO-Al_2O_3$/camphene slurry and sintering. Camphene slurries with $CuO-Al_2O_3$ contents of 5 and 10 vol% are unidirectionally frozen at $-30^{\circ}C$, and pores are generated in the frozen specimens by camphene sublimation during air drying. The green bodies are sintered for 1 h at $700^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ in $H_2$ atmosphere. The sintered samples show large pores of $100{\mu}m$ in average size aligned parallel to the camphene growth direction. The internal walls of the large pores feature relatively small pores of ${\sim}10{\mu}m$ in size. The size of the large pores decreases with increasing $CuO-Al_2O_3$ content by the changing degree of powder rearrangement in the slurry. The size of the small pores decreases with increasing sintering temperature. Microstructural analysis reveals that 100-nm $Al_2O_3$ particles are homogeneously dispersed in the Cu matrix. These results suggest that a porous composite body with aligned large pores could be fabricated by a freeze-drying and $H_2$ reducing process.

Freeze drying of a porous Cu-Sn alloy with unidirectionally aligned pore channels was accomplished by using a composite powder of CuO-$SnO_2$ and camphene. Camphene slurries with CuO-$SnO_2$ content of 3, 5 and 10 vol% were prepared by mixing with a small amount of dispersant at $50^{\circ}C$. Freezing of a slurry was done at $-25^{\circ}C$ while the growth direction of the camphene was unidirectionally controlled. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphene during drying in air for 48 h. The green bodies were hydrogen-reduced at $650^{\circ}C$ and then were sintered at $650^{\circ}C$ and $750^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. XRD analysis revealed that the CuO-$SnO_2$ powder was completely converted to Cu-Sn alloy without any reaction phases. The sintered samples showed large pores with an average size of above $100{\mu}m$ which were aligned parallel to the camphene growth direction. Also, the internal walls of the large pores had relatively small pores. The size of the large pores decreased with increasing CuO-$SnO_2$ content due to the change of the degree of powder rearrangement in the slurry. The size of the small pores decreased with increase of the sintering temperature from $650^{\circ}C$ to $750^{\circ}C$, while that of the large pores was unchanged. These results suggest that a porous alloy body with aligned large pores can be fabricated by a freeze-drying and hydrogen reduction process using oxide powders.
Nickel powder was coated with aluminum nitrate solution to increase the thermal stability of a porous nickel support and control the nickel content in the Pd-Cu-Ni ternary alloyed membrane. Raw nickel powder and alumina coated nickel powder were uniaxialy pressed by home made press with metal cylindrical mold. Though the used nickel powder prepared by pulsed wire evaporation (PWE) method has a good thermal stability, the porous nickel support was too much sintered and the pores of porous nickel support was plugged at high temperature (over $800^{\circ}C$) making it not suitable for the porous support of a palladium based composite membrane. In order to overcome this problem, the nickel powder was coated by alumina and alumina modified porous nickel support resists up to $1000^{\circ}C$ without pore destruction. Furthermore, the compositions of Pd-Cu-Ni ternary alloy membrane prepared by magnetron sputtering and Cu-reflow could be controlled by not only Cu-reflow temperature but also alumina coating amount. SEM analysis and mercury porosimeter analysis evidenced that the alumina coated on the surface of nickel powder interrupted nickel sintering.

The relationship between the diffusivity and electrochemical characteristics of lithium secondary battery with the modified Si anode material prepared in HF/$AgNO_3$ solution was investigated. The crystallographic structure and images of the modified porous Si and modified Si/Cu was examined using the X-ray diffraction, BET and SEM. To examine the effect of metal composite and pore size distribution according to chemical etching on the electrochemical characterization, the electrodes for half cells were prepared with the modified Si, modified Si/Cu, and modified Si/Cu annealed with $600^{\circ}C$. Our results showed that the chemical diffusivity of lithium ions was related to structure and resistance of Si/Cu composite anode material. The lithium diffusivity in modified silicon compound calculated from the CV was at the range of $1{\times}10^{-12}$ to $9{\times}10^{-16}cm^2/s$. The effects of modified silicon structure and resistance on the cycling efficiency were significant.

In this study, porous ZnO sphere and Cu-ZnO composite were synthesized by coprecipitation method in diethylene glycol solvent. The physicochemical properties of as-prepared composite materials were characterized by SEM, XRD, $N_2$-sorption and $H_2$-TPR. A series of porous Cu-ZnO with different Cu contents (0, 6.6, 21.3, 36.4, 54.6, 77.8 wt%) was investigated for CO oxidation activity in a fixed bed reactor system. With increasing Cu content in Cu-ZnO the surface area and micropore volume of Cu-ZnO are decreased and Cu (36.4 wt%)-ZnO shows higher activity for CO oxidation compared to the others.
The aim of this study is fabricating of composite filler metal (CFM) by a combination of selective laser sintering (SLS) of stainless steel powders (RapidSteel $2.0^{TM}$ and liquid phase infiltration of Ag-28 wt.%Cu alloy. Porous stainless steel body with inter-connected pore channels was fabricated by SLS, binder decomposing and densification processes. By the direct contact infiltration, the narrow inter-particle channels of the porous body were completely filled with the Ag-28 wt.%Cu alloy infiltrant. During infiltration, the dissolved elements of Fe, Ni and Cr from the porous body were solved into copper solid solution phases, which consist of eutectic structure of composite metal matrix. The S10C/CFM/S10C joints, which have narrow clearance gaps between them up to 10 micrometers, were joined successfully by self-feeding of filler metal from the matrix of CFM. The CFM kept its original thickness and microstructure after brazing. The tensile strength of brazed specimen was higher than 30 kgf/$mm^2$ and showed a typical ductile fracture mode in the CFM.
In this study, porous Mo-5 wt% Cu with unidirectionally aligned pores is prepared by freeze drying of camphene slurry with $MoO_3-CuO$ powders. Unidirectional freezing of camphene slurry with dispersion stability is conducted at $-25^{\circ}C$, and pores in the frozen specimens are generated by sublimation of the camphene crystals. The green bodies are hydrogen-reduced at $750^{\circ}C$ and sintered at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that $MoO_3-CuO$ composite powders are completely converted to a Mo-and-Cu phase without any reaction phases by hydrogen reduction. The sintered bodies with the Mo-Cu phase show large and aligned parallel pores to the camphene growth direction as well as small pores in the internal walls of large pores. The pore size and porosity decrease with increasing composite powder content from 5 to 10 vol%. The change of pore characteristics is explained by the degree of powder rearrangement in slurry and the accumulation behavior of powders in the interdendritic spaces of solidified camphene.
