Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(${\varepsilon}$-caprolactone) (PCL) blends with various components for melt-blown non-wovens were prepared by a twin-screw extruder. Tributyl citrate (TBC) was added in order to improve the miscibility between PLA and PCL. The results showed that small circular particles of PCL were dispersed in PLA matrix uniformly. The addition of PCL had the heterogeneous nucleation effect on the crystallization of PLA and decreased thermal stability of PLA. The flow of pure PLA and blends approached to Newtonian liquid at a low shear rate and expressed more obvious viscoelasticity at a high shear rate.
The magnetron reactive ion etching (RIE) characteristics of polycrystalline (poly) 3C-SiC grown on $SiO_{2}$/Si substrate by APCVD were investigated. Poly 3C-SiC was etched by $CHF_{3}$ gas, which can form a polymer as a function of side wall protective layers, with additive $O_{2}$ and Ar gases. Especially, it was performed in magnetron RIE, which can etch SiC at a lower ion energy than a commercial RIE system. Stable etching was achieved at 70 W and the poly 3C-SiC was undamaged. The etch rate could be controlled from $20\;{\AA}/min$ to $400\;{\AA}/min$ by the manipulation of gas flow rates, chamber pressure, RF power, and electrode gap. The best vertical structure was improved by the addition of 40 % $O_{2}$ and 16 % Ar with the $CHF_{3}$ reactive gas. Therefore, poly 3C-SiC etched by magnetron RIE can expect to be applied to M/NEMS applications.

Surface micromachined SiC devices have readily been fabricated from the polycrystalline (poly) 3C-SiC thin film which has an advantage of being deposited onto $SiO_2$ or $Si_3N_4$ as a sacrificial layer. Therefore, in this work, magnetron reactive ion etching process which can stably etch poly 3C-SiC thin films grown on $SiO_2$/Si substrate at a lower energy (70 W) with $CHF_3$ based gas mixtures has been studied. We have investigated the etching properties of the poly 3C-SiC thin film using PR/Al mask, according to $O_2$ flow rate, pressure, RF power, and electrode gap. The etched RMS (root mean square), etch rate, and etch profile of the poly 3C-SiC thin films were analyzed by SEM, AFM, and $\alpha$-step.
Biodiesel is non-petroleum based fuel produced from vegetable oils or animal fats through transesterification. The compositions of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids in the feedstocks are important factors for biodiesel quality in terms of low-temperature fluidity and oxidative stability. The goal of this study is to improve the cold flow property of biodiesel from vegetable and animal origin containing highly saturated methyl esters (approx. 50%). In this purpose poly-saturated methyl esters in palm and tallow biodiesel were removed via urea-based fractionation and then the recovered fractions (enriched unsaturated fatty acid methyl esters) were supplemented with cold flow improvers. The highest concentration of unsaturated fatty acid methyl esters (93.8%) was obtained using a urea/fatty acid ratio of 3:1 at the crystallization temperature of $0^{\circ}C$ for 17 hours in incubation, with recovery of 71% and the addition of cold flow improver (Flozol$^{(R)}$ 515, 3,000 ppm) to the enriched poly-unsaturated fatty acid methyl esters reduced the CFPP(cold filter plugging point) of palm biodiesel from $12^{\circ}C$ to $-42^{\circ}C$. In tallow biodiesel both the enrichment of unsaturated fatty acid methyl esters (93.71%) and the addition of cold flow improver (Infineum R408, 3,000ppm) reduced the CFPP from $10^{\circ}C$ to $-32^{\circ}C$.
The relative permeabilities, distribution coefficients and diffusion coefficient of some salts which are important components in blood plasma through a poly(HEMA) membrane were measured. The crosslinker which was used for preparing the membrane was tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate(TEGDMA), the weight percentage of the latter was about 2.8. We found that the diffusion coefficients ($D_m$) of the solutes decrease exponentially with increasing molecular weight, and also that $D_m$'s decrease linearly (except urea) with cylindrical radius (a). These facts were explained by a sieve pore flow model. The relative permeability and diffusion coefficient of urea at various temperature were larger than those of other solutes such as glycine, ${\beta}$-alanine, D-glucose, saccharose and maleic acid. The result indicates that the poly(HEMA) membrane might be suitable for hemodialysis application.

The poly silicon thin films were prepared by solid phase crystallization at 600$^{\circ}C$ of amorphous silicon films deposited on Corning 7059 glass and (100) silicon wafer with thermally grown SiO$_2$substrate by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition with varying rf power, deposition temperature, total flow rate. Crystallization time, microstructure, absorption coefficients were investigated by RAMAN, XRD analysis and UV transmittance measurement. Crystallization time of amorphous silicon films was increased with increasing rf power, decreasing deposition temperature and decreasing total flow rate.
Purpose: Small size of recombinant scFv antibody has many advantages such as rapid blood clearances and improved targeting antibodies to tumor region. On the other hand owing to small size, number of amino group is insufficient in conjugation with chelator and fluorescence labeling. This study is to introduce poly lysine tag to the C-terminal end of scFv lym-1 sequence for fluorescence chelator conjugation. Materials and Methods: Poly lysine scFv lym-1 gene, cloned into pET-22b (+) vector, was expressed in E. coli BL21 (DE3) strain. Antibody purification was performed with Ni-NTA column and then size exclusion column chromatography. Expression and purification levels of poly lysine tagged scFv lym-1 antibody were confirmed by western blot analysis. I-124, I-125, I-131 and Tc-99m were used for radiolabeling of purified poly lysine scFv lym-1. Flow cytometry analysis of FIT( conjugated poly lysine scFv lym-1 was performed for confirmation of immunoreactivity of human Burkitt's lymphoma cells. Results: Poly lysine scFv lym-1 antibody was purified through two steps and identified as molecular weight of 48 KDa. Radiolabeling yields of I-124, I-125, I-131 and Tc-99m into poly lysine scFv lym-1 were >99%, >99%, >95% and >99%, respectively. Flow cytometry analysis of poly lysine scFv and scFv lym-1 was showed similar immunoreactivity to human Burkitt's lymphoma cells. Conclusion: Poly lysine tag was useful for the sufficient number of amino groups to scFv lym-1 antibody for chelator conjugation with minimizing loss of immunoreactivity.
Industrial electrostatic precipitation is a very complex process, which involves multiple-way interaction between the electric field, the fluid flow, and the particulate motion. This paper describes a strongly coupled calculation procedure for the rigorous computation of particle dynamics during electrostatic precipitation. The turbulent gas flow and the particle motion under electrostatic forces are calculated by using the commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) package FLUENT linked to a finite-volume solver for the electric field and ion charge. Particle charge is determined from both local electrical conditions and the cell residence time which the particle has experienced through its path. Particle charge density and the particle velocity are averaged in a control volume to use Lagrangian information of the particle motion in calculating the gas and electric fields. The turbulent particulate transport and the effects of particulate space charge on the electrical current flow are investigated. The calculated results for poly-dispersed particles are compared with those for mono-dispersed particles, and significant differences are demonstrated.

There appears lateral capillary force in a hydrophilic flat needle employed for the fabrication of fine organic thin-film stripes, bringing in an increase of the stripe width. It also causes the stripe thickness to increase with increasing coating speed, which is hardly observed in a normal coating process. Through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, we demonstrate that the lateral capillary flow can be substantially suppressed by increasing the contact angle of the needle end. Based on the simulation results, we have coated the outer surface of the flat needle with a hydrophobic material (polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) with the water contact angle of 104°). Using such a hydrophobic needle, we can suppress the lateral capillary flow of an aqueous poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) to a great extent, rendering the stripe narrow (63 ㎛ at 30 mm/s). Consequently, the stripe thickness is decreased as the coating speed increases. To demonstrate its applicability to solution-processable organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), we have also fabricated OLED with the fine PEDOT: PSS stripe and observed the strong light-emitting stripe with the width of about 68 ㎛.

This study aims to acquire a basic clustering technology of hybrid rocket motor for lunar lander, including the oxidizer flow distribution characteristic and the simultaneous ignition characteristic. The experimental setups were established to conduct a series of ground firing test of a clustered motor. The gaseous oxygen (GOX) and the HDPE (High Density PolyEthylene) were used as the oxidizer and the solid fuel, respectively. Experimental results which are the simultaneous pyrotechnic ignition characteristic, the oxidizer distribution characteristic and the pressure traces of each combustion chamber imply that the hybrid rocket clustered motor works successfully.
