  • 압전성과 초전성을 나타내는 고분자인 poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)는 poly(methyl methacrylate), poly(vinyl acetate), 및 Poly(vinyl methyl ketone)(PVMK) 등과 블렌딩하면 혼화성(miscibility)이 있다. • Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membrane surfaces were modified using surface modifying macromolecules (SMMs). The Zonyl BA-L as SMM was used and the various PVDF membranes containing 0 to 2 wt% SMM were prepared. The resulting membranes were characterized through SEM, contact angle measurements and pervaporation separation of water-ethanol system. SMM layers were created in the surface regions of PVDF membranes by SEM images and the contact angles were increased more than untreated PVDF membranes. The pervaporation was carried out at 50, 60 and $70^{\circ}C$, and the PVDF membranes containing 1 and 2 wt% SMM were used for 10, 20, 50 wt% water in the binary water/ethanol mixtures and pure water. PVDF/2 wt% Zrlnyl BA-L membrane showed the permeability 5.3 $g/m^2hr$ and separation factor 287 at $50^{\circ}C$ for water : ethanol = 10 : 50 solution.

PVDF와 블렌딩시켰을 때 LCST 상분리 거동을 나타내는 고분자로는 poly(methyl methacrylate), poly(ethyl methacrylate), poly(1,4-butylene adipate) (PBA) 등이 있다[l,3]. (중략)

  • Sulfur cathodes were prepared by ball milling method with different types of electronic conductors and binders in different ball milling time. The sulfur cell with a cathode prepared in 45 min ball milling time gave an initial discharge capacity of 794mAh/g with Super-P as an electronic conductor and poly(vinylidene fluoride) as a binder. The cathode with multi-walled carbon nanotube as an electronic conductor showed an initial discharge capacity of 944 mAh/g and a discharge capacity of 300 mAh/g after 20 cycles. Cathodes with poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(vinylidene fluoride) as binders showed different cycle performance.

  • Poly vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membranes were hydrophilized using polyethylenimine (PEI) and p-xylylene dichloride (XDC), and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly (acrylic acid -co- maleic acid) (PAM) mixed solutions by varying the concentration of PAM were coated onto PVDF membrane surface. The surface coating was verified by the observation of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the permselective characteristcs of the resulting composite membranes were tested for 90 wt% aqueous ethanol solution by the pervaporation technique. The effects of the corsslinking agent concentraion, the temperature of feed solution, and the reaction temperature on the flux and separation factors were measured. Typically, the flux, $1,480g/m^2hr$ at the reaction temperature $100^{\circ}C$, PAM 3 wt%, feed temperature $70^{\circ}C$ was obtained, on the other hand, for the separation factor, ${\alpha}_{W/E}=82$ at the conditions of the reaction temperature $100^{\circ}C$, PAM 15 wt% and feed temperature $25^{\circ}C$ was shown.

  • In this study, terpolymer of vinylidene fluoride (VDF), trifluoroethylene (TrFE), and chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) were prepared by suspension polymerization using di-tertiary-butyl peroxide (DTBP) as an initiator. The structural characteristics including microstructure and chain conformation of the polymers have been carefully elucidated as a function of the chemical composition using NMR, FT-IR. The intensity of absorption bands of the $\beta$-phase gradually decreases and the $\gamma$-phase increases with the increment of CTFE mol%. The analysis results of DSC shows that the Curie phase transition temperature ($T_c$) of the terpolymer gradually shifts to ambient temperature and trace becomes smaller and broader with the increment of CTFE mol%. Also, activation energies of the samples were calculated by Freeman-Carroll method.

  • Since PVDF/poly(1,4-butylene adipate) blend shows much lower LCST curve compared with PVDF/PMMA blend, the PVDF/PBA blend can be a good candidate for investigating the effect of the electric field on the phase separation and dissolution behavior of an electro-active polymer and electro-inactive polymer blend. • As the development of available binder in the harsh conditions is needed, we propose the proper binder for high-voltage lithium-ion secondary batteries based on the quantum chemistry modeling. The optimized structures, HOMO (Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital) energies and ionization potentials of 4 binders, which were considered from monomer to tetramer, were investigated by the semi-empirical and DFT (Density Functional Theory) calculations. The results show that the ionization potential values by calculation tend to be close to the oxidation potentials from the measurement of linear sweep voltametry (LSV). The order of oxidative resistance from high value to low value is following: poly(hexafluropropylene), poly(vinylidene fluoride), poly(methyl acrylate) and poly(acryl amide). Also these results correspond with the experimental values. Thus, we find the reason why HOMO (Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital) energy of PHFP has the highest value than other binders by analysis of HOMO orbital structures.
