The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the prevention and management of postpartum disease. Methods: The subjects were 228 women who experienced postpartum disease. This research was conducted in G city, at outpatient department of western medicine hospital and Korean medicine hospital. The degree of performance of postpartum care was measured on a 4-point scale divided by each area, and was compared in three groups. Results: Postpartum care includes traditional postpartum care and postpartum care in hospitals. The degree of performance of postpartum care means that the higher the score, the better. The traditional postpartum care performance score was 2.35 and the postpartum care performance score at the hospital was 1.63. The results of this study showed that the performance of traditional postpartum care was higher than that of postpartum care administered in hospitals. The perception of traditional postpartum care methods was 'An indispensable postpartum care method for health' (75.9%). The most effective method of postpartum care was 'consolidate in harmony traditional postpartum care and guidance of the medical team' (88.2%). Conclusions: The improvement and satisfaction degree of postpartum care were higher in Korean medicine than in western treatments. Therefore, the most efficient method of postpartum care must be integrated in harmony with the direction of the medical staff and traditional methods of postpartum care.
Objectives : The aim of the trial was to study the effect of plaque control(tooth brushing instruction) for oral health improvement on periodontitis patients. Methods : 30 patients(35~65 years) with advanced periodontal disease were subjected to a baseline examination including assessment of oral hygiene status(O'leary index), gingival condition(bleeding). the assessment were repeated after 2, 4, 6 weeks. cognitive, behavioral and clinical outcomes were assessed in the primary care setting by questionnaire and clinical oral examination. Results : The oral hygiene status expressed as the individual mean percentage of tooth surfaces with plaque 59.3% at baseline and 21.2% after 6 weeks(p<0.001). The gingival bleeding status expressed as the individual mean point of interdental papilla 3.8 at baseline and 1.9 after 6 weeks(p<0.001). Also, the patients self-assessment about correct tooth brushing behavior was 3.9(5-point likert scales), satisfaction of plan practices 4.1(5-point likert scales), efficacy of tooth brushing instruction 8.7(10-point likert scales). Patients wanted to continuous participation. Conclusions : A verification of effect after individualized oral health instruction and repeated dental plaque control represented to significance on plaque control score, oral care practice and oral health recognition. The important oral care step against periodontal disease is to establish good oral health habits. Also, oral health behavior recognition is more important for the practice of oral health. Therefore professional plaque control and tooth brushing instruction absolutely need in improving oral health.

As a part of that project national health center performed rehabilition education program for home visiting health nurses. The purpose of this study is to analysis the effect of this education. In the first stage all of those groups were educated for two weeks in national rehabilitation center. But only two group nurses, one is in a urban and the other in a rural community, have been educated continually in the field through discussing rehabilitation care case study. The data in this study were gathered from three group healh nurses and analysed by SAS computer program. The results about knowledge, attitude and practice changes of the three group nurses were as follows. 1. In the pre education state the mean point of all nurses' attitude for rehabilition was 59, but in the post education state that was 90. The difference between pre and post attitude is very significant(t=-14.1. p<0.0001l). 2. In the pre education state the mean point of all nurses' knowledge for rehabilition was 45, but in the post education state that was 78. The difference between pre and post knowledge is very significant(t=-12.7, p<0.000l). 3. In the pre education state the mean point of all nurses' practice for rehabilition care was 37, but in the post education state that was 62. The difference between pre and post practice is very significant(t=-7.3, p<0.000l). 4. In practice point, the two group nurses who have been educated continuously were superior to the other(t=-3.9. p<0.00l). 5. All points between the urban and rural nurses were no significant differences(p>0.l). 6. All changes of the attitude, knowledge and practice did not affected by age(F=0.58, p>0.l). professional career(F=O.61, p>0.l), educational background(F=0.97, p>0.l).

With the unparalleled rate of aging and rapid modernization, Korean society faces the situation in which it has to increase the supply of elderly care services dramatically in the near future. Among these services, nursing homes are considered as an essential alternative provision because Korea can no longer rely on traditional familism nor medical facilities for the care of her older population. It is necessary, therefore, to prepare a future plan for the delivery of nursing homes in Korea. This paper has identified elderly care context and analyzed elderly care facilities of Korea in the point of supply and utilization rate of nursing homes according to the region and type of facilities. On the bases of this analysis, the delivery planning of nursing homes in Korea has been proposed in order to increase welfare status of older people and efficient utilization of health care resources.

This study examined the conditions and administration of 548 private, social welfare, and elementary school-based facilities providing after-school child care. The School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale developed by authors was administered to the teachers of these facilities. The rating scale consists of 84 items in 9 sub-areas. Seven point ratings were obtained for each item. One-way ANOVA confirmed differences between all items at the (p<.001) except for supplementary special needs items. The private facilities had the best environment for after-school child care except for staff development. The social welfare facilities showed good evaluation in staff-child interactions, activities, staff development and administration. The elementary schools obtained low evaluations except for supplementary special needs items. The evaluation of social welfare facilities was highest in Seoul and private child care facilities were highest in other areas.

Methods: A total of 203 medicaid elderly over 65 and living in B-metropolitan city were interviewed. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and Hierarchical Multiple regression. Results: The average score of the health literacy was 7.88±2.84 out of 12. The average score of self-care was 3.26±0.77 points on the 5 point scale. The frequency of health care utilization by the subjects was 6.65±5.25 a month. The health literacy and self-care performance showed a statistically significant positive correlation. The health literacy and self-care performance showed a statistically significant negative correlation with health care utilization. The factors affecting health care utilization of the subjects were self-care performance, health literacy, and religion, and the explanatory power was 25%. Conclusion: The results indicate that the self-care performance, health literacy, religion are significant factors of health care utilization in medicaid elderly. Therefore, it is necessary to develop strategies to improve their self-care performance and health literacy for reasonable health care utilization.
