  • It has been recognized unsaturated soil behaviour playing an important role in geomechanics. Up to now, only a few experimental data are available for the technical difficulties related to both volume changes and suction measurements. In this study, the volume changes of unsaturated compacted silty soil were monitored with proximeter (i.e. non-contactable transducer) during various triaxial compression tests, which gave a realistic estimation in the volume changes of unsaturated soil sample. Various triaxial compression tests for unsaturated soil under different drainage conditions are carried out. The behaviour of the pore pressure, namely, the pore-air pressure and the pore-water pressure, and matric suction during the shearing tests are investigated. The experimental results have revealed that the mechanical behaviour of unsaturated soil can be significantly affected by the matric suction.

  • In this paper, a method of generating trajectories in real time for a mobile robot in a dynamic environment is proposed. Specifically, this method is focused on soccer-playing robots that need to calculate trajectories in real time, which are constantly subject to rapidly change as targets and obstacles move. The robots also should move at the fastest available speed, while tracking the generated trajectories. The method proposed in this paper solves the geometric problem of finding a smooth curve that joins two endpoints. To have this solved, we assign five constraints to each endpoint, which are the usual x, y, theta, and curvature as well as the influence of the initial robot velocity on the path. With these five constraints, the path generated can always be physically followed by robot. Through this method, the travel time of the robot over the entire path can b optimized. Therefore it can ...

  • Fashion is hard to expect owing to the rapid change in accordance with consumer taste and environment, and has a tendency toward variety and individuality. Especially street fashion of 21st century is not being regarded as one of the subcultures but is playing an important role as a fountainhead of fashion trend. Therefore, Searching and analyzing street fashions helps us to understand the popular fashions of the next season and also it is important in understanding the consumer fashion sense and commercial area. So, we need to understand fashion styles quantitatively and qualitatively by providing visual data and dividing images. There are many kinds of data in street fashion information. The purpose of this study is to design and implementation for street fashion information analysis system using data fusion. We can show visual information of customer's viewpoint because the system can analyze the fused data for image data and survey data.

  • Recent demands of market forces are causing considerable attention to be forced on logistics functions and revitalizing interest in outsourcing them. The need to efficiently and economically adjust support to meet market demands is growing significantly. Logistics is playing a role it has never played before. In light of this, outsourcing to third parties has become a strategic issue demanding greater attention in corporate boardrooms. From the perspective of TPL users, this paper focuses on how best to make a strategic plan for the effective utilization of TPL. And the results are as follows : First, after deciding their logistics outsourcing, the companies have to set up the aim of TPL through development of logistical strategies. Second, the companies must decide service provider that fits to their business environment and conditions. Third, they have to conclude a contract with logistics service provider. Fourth, after doing the preparatory implementation they carry into effect the original implementation. Fifth, they use the result of original implementation to fix a partnership.

  • From 1998, the number of household who live in apartment house outnumber that of household live in detached dwelling by 0.3% in Korea. As walls and floors are shared with neighbourhood in apartment houses, percent complaints to the impact noise from the upper floor was so high that it represents an important factor in apartment indoor noise. And the rate is closely correlate with children's running, playing and jumping. In this study, comparisons of standard impact source, such as Tapping Machine and Bang Machine, with real life impact sources were made in order to investigate acoustical characteristics between them. Also reproducibility tests for impact sound sources were carried out.

  • This study aims to introduce the method that can relieve vibrating forces to oral environment by making an embouchure aid. Thin plastic crown forms were fabricated to prevent tooth abrasion and irritation to lip mucosa for the saxophone player. After application to the player, the most comfort form was chosen and delivered to 3 professional saxophone players. After 5 mon, the players responded to the survey. This embouchure aid did not disturb playing and gave comfort to lower lip. In general, the players preferred thin soft type and thought it caused little effect on sound. Far too little attention has been paid to the problems encountered by single-reed wind instrumentalist who suffer from tooth abrasion and irritation to lip mucosa. The embouchure aid not only prevent tooth damage but also diminish the discomfort of tight embouchure.

  • Clinical conditions causing the lower leg injury and pain in athletes include acute injuries which are acute compartment syndrome, acute strain injury, contusion, muscle cramps, and chronic injuries which are chronic exertional compartment syndrome, achilles tendinitis, shin splints and stress fractures. Most injuries occur during running, jumping and playing soccer. Many of these conditions relate to overuse, increased strength, training errors and environment. It is necessary to know the cause of injuries and treatment methods to prevent the sports related lower leg injuries.

  • The Seoul Metro has been playing a vital role in public transportation for last 35 years as the feet of 10 millions of Seoul citizens. It currently takes charge of over 45% of the national subway transit and transports 4 millions of citizens a day. The purpose of this study is to suggest a plan for crew members' working condition improvement and job satisfaction improvement which will lead to the finest quality of service to the citizens. We examined the working conditions of the crew members and surveyed crew members about the working conditions and the extent of job satisfaction. The results of our study can also be used as basic materials for building the road map to the management improvement.

  • In this paper, we propose a system and an intuitive interface that can create an athletic scene among athletes. We allow you to enter motion as if you were playing a game, so that the user's action becomes the player's action. The user can take various actions in front of the motion sensor and control the object flying to him. When a user specifies an opponent to pass or attack, and takes appropriate action in front of the motion sensor, the movement trajectory of the object is automatically generated by the physical optimization technique in accordance with the motion. In this way, you can create scenes where multiple players play together in a virtual environment. The method of this paper will be very useful for rapid prototyping for cinematic trailers of based on athletics games or animations.
