Multi-floor Layout Model for Topsides of Floating Offshore Plant using the Optimization Technique (최적화 기법을 이용한 부유식 해양 플랜트 상부 구조의 다층 배치 모델)

  • For a floating offshore plant such as FPSO(Floating, Production, Storage, and Off-loading unit), various equipment should be installed in the restricted space, as compared with an onshore plant. The requirement for an optimal layout method of the plant has been increased in these days. Thus, a layout method of the floating offshore plant was proposed in this study. For this, an optimization problem for layout design was mathematically formulated, and then an optimization algorithm based on the genetic algorithm was implemented with C++ language in order to solve it. Finally, the proposed method was applied to an example of FPSO topsides. As a result, it was shown that the proposed method can be applied to layout design of the floating offshore plant such as FPSO.

  • This study presents a plant concept design for a smart factory which is mainly targeted to machine airplane parts. The plant layout is based on the TOC-DBR approach together with autonomous distributed factory control considered, while discrete event simulation is also performed in order to validate its layout. The resulting layout and its procedure turn out to be quite a useful guideline in realizing those smart factories especially for machining-oriented manufacturing industries.

  • Given the flow matrix, plant size and department sizes, the algorithms in this paper provide the layout with rectilinear distance. To construct automated facility design, cut tree approach is employed. A branch and bound computer code developed by Tillinghast is modifided to find the feasible fits of departments without shape distortion in the plant rectangle.

  • To meet the soaring demand recently, South Korea big shipbuilders are examining two things. One is new investment in plant and equipment. The other is replacement of production resources. Considering plant & equipment investment and replacement of production resources, even if actual production ability would be enough, the real output could be affected by limitation of logistics with lack of analysis. As we set up big shipyard in virtual space, we could perform actual production by using confirm production plan in virtual space. We've analyzed the load of block stock, load of road and load of transporter for logistics effects are followed by production increase. This research is to determine the possible problems of those analyzed results and to present the resolution using the current layout. And then modified yard layout, we reanalyzed previous three logistics effects. This simulation model could help administrator to make rational decision for changing yard layout.

  • This paper is a study on validation model that can verify the arrangement of equipment constituting offshore plant using system engineering approach in offshore plant tender stage. In order to design offshore plant topside maintenance equipment, topside layout verification should be preceded. However, there are many errors in the bidding stage due to the FEED results that are not perfect, the verification can not be performed sufficiently due to the limitation of the bidding period and others reasons. Therefore, we propose a validation model that can effectively verify the equipment layout within a limited condition by simplifying the main process in the system engineering process, which is a multidisciplinary approach, and confirmed through the Functional Deployment Model. Also, we verified the validation model for topside equipment deployment through case studies.

A branch and bound computer code developed by Tillinghast is modified to find the feasible fits of departments without shape distortion (see [1])in the plant rectangle.   • This study is consists of two parts. First, we analyzed two construction algorithms; CORELAP( Computerized Relationship Layout Planning) and ALDEP (Automated Layout Design Program). And we made a New Relationship Layout Planning overcoming the defaults of CORELAP and ALDEP. Second, we described the only improvement algorithm CRAFT(Computerized Relative Allocation of Facilities Technique). And we modified the CRAFT, which is considering the economic evaluation.

  • It is necessary that End-of-life Vehicle (ELV) should be recycled from the point of view of environmental preservation and resource recycling. This paper deals with two issues. The first one is the basic functional construction and plant layout of the ELV dismantling system that can maximize the reusability of parts and the recyclability of materials. The second issue is the development of a simulation model which can be used to estimate the performance of the layout design. The simulator has been interfaced with an interactive layout design system, and used to effectively determine an optimal layout design of the ELV dismantling system.

  • The layout is an important and difficult problem in industrial applications like sheet metal manufacturing, garment making, circuit layout, plant layout, and land development. The module layout problem is known to be non-deterministic polynomial time complete(NP-complete). To efficiently find an optimal layout from a large number of candidate layout configuration a heuristic algorithm could be used. In recent years, a number of researchers have investigated the combinatorial optimization problems by using neural network principles such as traveling salesman problem, placement and routing in circuit design. This paper describes the application of Self-organizing Feature Maps(SOM) of the Kohonen network and Simulated Annealing Algorithm(SAA) to the layout problem of the two-dimensional rectangular shapes.
