Conclusion and suggestions of this study are as follows.; firstly, according to the current situation of domestic residential container architecture, the usage was planned mainly for accommodation. Secondly, For planning background of planning preparation stage, economic benefit for long-term residence individuality and diversity for long short term complex residence were the primary planning backgrounds. Thirdly, for floor planning of planning design stage, space planning for various purposes is necessary as creating inter-space, wide LDK space, and loft by using narrow and long container for the long-term residence. Lastly, For construction stage, ways to reduce personnel expenses are being required by reducing the term of works and simplifying the processing stage by running factory production and field construction in parallel. If reduction method of construction cost through energy saving and mass production system is considered in the future, it would be possible to expand the development to dormitory and community housing for university students who are pressured by housing cost.

  • In order to address housing issues, alleviate the concentration of urban populations, and resolve other issues regarding residential spaces, large residential complexes have been developed in Korea since the 1970s. The changes to the residential culture due to such development projects propagated rapidly, making the apartment complexes the most representative form of housing in Korea. In developing such large-scale complexes, plans for public open spaces, which play an important role in formulating the quality of residential environment, have been mostly the same, only utilizing the spaces remaining after planning other types of spaces. The current study looks at the case of Tama New Town development project, a Japanese new town development project that has a similar public open space system in large scale residential complex development projects in Korea. In doing so, the current study aims to identify the features of public open space plans. In the conclusion, the study first finds that various public open spaces must be reviewed and introduced in term of predicting social demands. Second, the study suggests the policy-makers should actively introduce pedestrian paths as a public open space. Third, the study deduces the planning implications of applying the principle of original landscape preservation.

The purpose of this study is to present basic materials of the environment-friendly outdoor space planning of housing complexes. The major findings of the study are as follows. First, the results of the comparative analysis of the satisfaction of the outdoor space of apartment complexes show that the complexes with the most application of environment-friendly elements had higher residential satisfaction. But there was no meaningful statistical difference between the complexes with the higher level of application of the environment-friendly elements and the complexes with medium level of application. Secondly, according to a comparative analysis, the overall residential satisfaction of the apartment complexes was the same as the residential satisfaction of the outdoor space. Thirdly, the results of the correlative analysis of residential satisfaction and environmental awareness showed that the satisfaction of the apartment complexes decreases as the awareness of the environment-friendly apartment complex increases. The results of this study can be used as basic materials for environment-friendly outdoor space planning of apartment complexes.

  • Recently, as people have more interest in health, and some change takes place in their lifestyles, a demand for environment-friendly residential space is also increasing. Research on the introduction of natural elements is mostly conducted for humans to pursue a more pleasant and comfortable life in residential space since it has one of the closest relation with humans. Therefore, it is such an important assignment at present when environmental problems are considered significant. Based on such a necessity, this study analyzed the introduction types and characteristics of natural elements in residential space by considering essential and psychological aspects more than previous researches on residential space with practical and functional aspects. As natural elements, this study put limits on plants and water that are used a lot in the interior space, and by dividing introduction types into recomposition of courtyard space, spatial partition and decorative elements, this study carried out a case analysis of residential space structures recently completed in Japan. As a basic research on space planning that is desperately required by change in the residential life paradigm and on the basis of understanding about nature, it is expected that the results of this study will be used as design basic data useful when establishing plans of introducing natural elements for residential space in the future.
