Titanium hydride를 이용한 TiC분말의 제조 및 특성 (Characteristics of Titanium Carbide Fabricated by Fine Titanium Hydride Powder)

  • This paper deals with the fabrication of titanium carbide using fine titanium hydride. The ratio of $TiH_2$ and C (Activated carbon) was 1:1 (mol) and milled in a planetary ball mill at a ball-to-powder weight ratio of 20:1. Thereafter, TGA was performed at $1400^{\circ}C$ to observe change of weight with milling time. Titanium carbide was obtained by using tempering the milled powders at $1100-1500^{\circ}C$. The microstructures of titanium carbide as well as the change of the lattice parameters and particle size have been studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

  • At a turn of the third millennium the world storms and quickly changes. It became difficult to expect what expects us tomorrow. The most important are questions of recovery from the crisis and rescue of mankind from forthcoming global changes: warming of climate, water and food problems, social, economic and political conflicts that are shaking the world and other various cataclysms, accidents, negative processes. It puts before mankind the problem which never solved by our civilization. All this is caused by ignoring of objective economic laws, laws of wildlife and also by violation of cyclic development management's laws. In article the concept of strategy of mankind's survival in XXI and next centuries, the principles of creation of planetary house of universal civilization for post-industrial world based on spirituality scientific and technological revolutions, ecology, space exploration, economy and world safety are considered. Introduction of uniform universal measurement of currency for the whole world in the form of "power" is offered. Important aspect of a research is theoretical postulate on integrated innovative society. The author puts forward a new paradigm of government on a basis of 5 spirals. The basic model of forced development of small and medium business, including 9 projects, is developed.

정유압 기계식 변속기의 조향시 동력 순환 특성 (Power Circulation Characteristics of Hydro-Mechanical transmission System in Steering)

  • Power flow characteristics of a hydro-mechanical transmission system(HMT) are investigated for tracked vehicle in steering. A HMT consisting of two hydrostatic pump motors(HST), several planetary gear trains and steer differential gear is considered. In order to obtain the direction and magnitude of the power flow of the HMT, network theory for the general power transmission is used. Network model for the HMT in steering is developed, which consists of shafts, nodes and transmission elements such as clutch, gear, etc. Power flow analysis procedure consists of two stages : (1) traction force analysis in steering, (2) power flow analysis in HMT. Torque and speed of every transmission element of the HMT is determined from the network analysis. Also, efficiency, mechanical and hydraulic power loss including HST, are obtained. In addition, the regenerative power flow resulting from steering can be studied in graphic display. The power flow analysis program(PCSTEER) developed in this work can be used as a useful design tool for the tracked vehicle with HMT.

PBL Scheme에 대한 WRF-CMAQ 민감도 분석 (Sensibility Study for PBL Scheme of WRF-CMAQ)

  • Numerical simulations were carried out to investigate the impact of PBL (Planetary boundary layer) scheme implemented in WRF on the result of meteorological fields and CMAQ modeling. 25-day period, representing high ozone concentration, was selected for the simulations. The three WRF domains covered East Asia region, Korean Peninsula and Seoul metropolitan area. The sensitivity of WRF-CMAQ modeling to the various PBL schemes was assessed and quantified by comparing model output and against observation from the meteorological and the air quality monitoring network within the domain. The meteorological variables evaluated included temperature, wind speed and direction over surface sites and upper air sounding sites. The CMAQ variables included gaseous species $O_3$ and $NO_x$ over monitoring stations. Although difference of PBL schemes implemented in WRF, they did not appreciably affect the WRF and CMAQ performance. There are partially differences between non-local and local mixing scheme, but are not distinct differences for the results of weather and air quality. It is suggested that impact of parameterization of vertical eddy diffusivity scheme in CMAQ also need to be researched in the future study.

Baseline Design and Performance Analysis of Laser Altimeter for Korean Lunar Orbiter

  • Korea's lunar exploration project includes the launching of an orbiter, a lander (including a rover), and an experimental orbiter (referred to as a lunar pathfinder). Laser altimeters have played an important scientific role in lunar, planetary, and asteroid exploration missions since their first use in 1971 onboard the Apollo 15 mission to the Moon. In this study, a laser altimeter was proposed as a scientific instrument for the Korean lunar orbiter, which will be launched by 2020, to study the global topography of the surface of the Moon and its gravitational field and to support other payloads such as a terrain mapping camera or spectral imager. This study presents the baseline design and performance model for the proposed laser altimeter. Additionally, the study discusses the expected performance based on numerical simulation results. The simulation results indicate that the design of system parameters satisfies performance requirements with respect to detection probability and range error even under unfavorable conditions.

A Case Study in the Mars Landing Site Selection for Science Objects

  • It is a crucial matter to select a landing site for landers or rovers in planning the Mars exploration. The landing site must have not only a scientific value as a landing site, but also geographical features to lead a safe landing for Mars probes. In this regard, this study analyzed landing site of Mars probes and rovers in previous studies and discussed the adequacy of the landing site to scientific missions. Moreover, this study also examined domestic studies on the Mars. The frameworks of these studies will guide the selection of exploration sites and a landing site when sending Mars probe to the Mars through our own efforts. Additionally, this paper will be used as the preliminary data for selection of exploration site and a landing site.

  • The particle size of medicinal materials is an Important physical property that affects the phar-maceutical behaviors such as dissolution, chemical stability, and bioavailability of solid dosage forms. The size reduction of raw medicinal powder is needed to formulate insoluble drugs or slightly soluble medicines and to improve the pharmaceutical properties such as the solubility, the pharmaceutical mixing, and the dispersion. The objective of the present study is to evaluate physiological activity of amorphous and nano-particle prep-arations of insoluble drug, ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), which were made by three types of fine grinding mills. The change of physical properties of ground UDCA was conformed by Mastersiger microplus and X-ray diffraction. We have investigated hepatoprotective effects of the nano-particle preparations of UDCA by plan-etary mill, vibration rod mill and jet mill in $CCI_4$-induced oxidatively injured mouse liver. The results showed that nano-particle preparations of UDCA all decreased reactive oxygen sepecies generation and lipid peroxi-dation in $CCI_4$-induced oxidative stress mice. Among them, nano-particle preparations by vibration rod mill and jet mill showed more significantly hepatoprotective effects compared to intact UDCA and planetary mill-ground UDCA. These results suggest that ground UDCA with vibration rod mill and jet mill shows a high amorphous state and the improved dissolution.

수·전동 휠체어 구동부 시스템 설계 (Design of Electric Automatic Manual Wheelchair Driving System)

  • 환자 및 노약자 이동에 중요한 역할을 하고 있는 수 전동휠체어의 핵심부인 구동부를 새롭게 설계했다. 구동부는 고속모터와 다단기어 치형을 설계적용하고, 굽힘강도와 면압강도를 고려해 큰 추진력을 얻을 수 있도록 성능을 검증하였다. B-Type의 마찰판식 클러치 전자식 브레이크(다판 방식의 무여자 작동형)를 동 축상에 설치해, 큰 토크에도 급격한 제동이 가능하도록 했다. 본 연구에 설계된 다단치차 감속기를 수 전동휠체어 구동장치에 사용하므로서, 소형화, 경량화를 이루고 구동 효율이 기존제품보다 30% 향상된 구동부를 구성할 수 있었으며, 보수 및 관리의 용이성을 함께 추구했다.

P형 열전분말의 수소환원처리가 상온열전특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Hydrogen Reduction Treatment on Room-Temperature Thermoelectric Performance of p-type Thermoelectric Powders)

  • Bismuth-telluride based $(Bi_{0.2}Sb_{0.8})_2Te_3$ thermoelectric powders were fabricated by two-step planetary milling process which produces bimodal size distribution ranging $400\;nm\;{\sim}\;2\;{\mu}m$. The powders were reduced in hydrogen atmosphere to minimize oxygen contents which cause degradation of thermoelectric performance by decreasing electrical conductivity. Oxygen contents were decreased from 0.48% to 0.25% by the reduction process. In this study, both the as-synthesized and the reduced powders were consolidated by the spark plasma sintering process at $350^{\circ}C$ for 10 min at the heating rate of $100^{\circ}C/min$ and then their thermoelectric properties were investigated. The sintered samples using the reduced p-type thermoelectric powders show 15% lower specific electrical resistivity ($0.8\;m{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$) than those of the as-synthesized powders while Seebeck coefficient and thermal conductivity do not change a lot. The results confirmed that ZT value of thermoelectric performance at room temperature was improved by 15% due to high electric conductivity caused by the controlled oxygen contents present at bismuth telluride materials.

NGSLR 시스템을 이용한 LRO 달 탐사선의 레이저 거리측정 (Laser Ranging for Lunnar Reconnaissance Orbiter using NGSLR)

  • NASA가 발사한 LRO 달 탐사선의 정밀궤도 결정을 위해서 지상에서 발사한 레이저를 이용하여 단방향 거리측정 기술이 적용되었는데, 이는 실제 탐사선의 임무에 활용되는 첫번째 시도라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 LRO 달 탐사선의 레이저 거리측정을 수행하는 탑재체 및 지상 시스템, 레이저 비행시간 및 망원경 지향 오차 요소들을 분석하였다. 또한, 지상에서 발사한 레이저 펄스가 earth window내에 검출되기 위한 기술들을 분석하였다. 이러한 기술들을 적용하여 실제 LRO 달 탐사선의 레이저 추적을 통해서 관측한 데이터를 분석하고 이를 통해 성공적인 단방향 거리측정 기술이 구현될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
