  • This paper presents the influence of incident angles of earthquakes on inelastic dynamic responses of asymmetry single story buildings under seismic ground motions. The dynamic responses such as internal forces and rotational ductility factor are used to evaluate the importance of the incident angles of ground motions in the inelastic range of structural behavior. The base shear and torque (BST) response histories of the resisting elements and of the building are used to prove that the shape of the BST surface of the building can be a practical tool to represent those of all resisting elements. This paper also shows that the different global forces which produce the maximum demands in the resisting elements tend to converge toward a single distribution in a definable intensity range, and this single distribution is related to the resistance distribution of the building.

  • This paper aims at designing an accelerated life test sampling plan for bulk material and showing its application for an arc-welded gas pipe. It is an integrated model of the accelerated life test procedure and bulk sampling procedure. The accelerated life tests were performed by the regulation, RSD 0005 of ATS at KITECH and bulk sampling was used for acceptance. Design parameters might be total sample size(segments and increments), stress level and so on. We focus on deciding the sample size by minimizing the asymptotic variance of test statistic as well as satisfying consumer's risk under Weibull life time distribution with primary information on shape parameter.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this paper is to analyze the characteristics of hospital architecture constructed in each periods and identify the changing process of hospital architecture in Korea since 1945. Methods : Literature review was conducted while the data of hospitals had been collected and the subject of investigation were selected. The important point of analysis is about design conception, site plan, block plan and hospital form. Results : The characteristics of hospital architecture are identified in each periods. Developed by private sector, hospitals have enlarged their beds and sizes under the competitive environments. In terms of size and external shape, vertical form has become a dominant scene of hospital forms in Korea. Among the dominance of tower-on podium, various block plans have been adopted with hospital streets. Also a few cases of horizontal disintegrated form was introduced. Implications : This paper could be the basic data to organize the history of Korean Hospital Architecture, and insufficient data should be supplemented continuously.

  • This paper tries to find out the characteristics of the vernacular dwellings in Noksan area which has been a part of Kaya cultural realm. Through the analyses of its environments and several practical unit plans. The characteristic of the vernacular dwellings in thes arer are as below. The dwellings has been transfigured form [Omaksari] hut which is generally the smallest house form in Korea. The noticeable vernacular hut in this area is smallest 4-kan double-wing plan which is irregular 전 shape, but they call it single wing and 2-kan plan. Leed which can be obtained easily in thes area is used on roof and in wall. Timbers used in constrution are very slim or rather weak, but they were treated carafully. The chimney form in this area seems the results of minimizing of their being from the invasion of Japanese pirate, but also it seems an effective method of heat control. In conclusion, we cannot deny that the house form of this area seems affected by its exclusive natural and social environments.

  • In recent years, new construction methods have been required to reduce the construction cost and increase the available area in an environment where construction work is frequently performed in a narrow urban area like Korea. As a result of these studies, slim floor composite beam has been suggested. Slim floor composite beam can reduce required depth because web of steel beam is embedded in the slab, so it is effective to reduce floor height and increase the available area. The purpose of this study is the floor height reduction evaluation by comparing system consisting of reinforced concrete, steel, and slim floor using square-shape steel pipe. After doing structural design for a typical plan, checked effectiveness by comparing each design plan. It is proven that slim floor composite beam can reduce required depth effectively comparing required materials of other system.

  • Wind guide can be installed on the top of buildings to collect wind. In this study, optimum shape of wind guide is developed, and proposed to combinate with the vertical wind turbine. Impact of parameters for wind guide is analyzed with several cases planned by Taguchi test plan. Front angle, rear angle, and roof angle are selected as key variables and changed into four different levels. By the experimental plan, totally, 64 cases are reduced to 16 cases of analysis. With optimum design of wind guide, the installed vertical axis wind turbines can be operated with maximum power output.

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is one of key information technology to shape doing business. ERP adoption characteristics like IS planning and change management before ERP implementation are rising in importance, because of gaining competitive advantage. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the characteristics of ERP adoption on ERP implementation success. From previous researches on ERP adoption and implementation, two characteristics of ERP adoption such as IS planning and change management, and 2 dependent variables such as process innovation and business performance, are identified. From data collection processes, 122 samples are collected. The results of hypothesis testing show that organizations with IS plan have higher implementation performance than organizations without IS plan. Also, organizations with the process of change management have higher implementation performance than organizations without the process of change management. Also, The interaction effect between IS planning and change management shows bigger impact in ERP implementation success.

  • The purpose of this study is providing a systematic method of exterior, interior finish materials and color scheme for elementary school and the actual color plans of elementary schools in Busan was analyzed to support the study. As a powerful design tool, a finish materials and a color are very effective to alter the perception of a building and a view. Most of the school, a shape and a material of elevations are monotonous and uniform and it makes students are hard to attach to their schools. As a place for learning and school life, the inner space of elementary classroom needs to be considered very important. The new basic guideline for developing and planning of architectural design could be achieved by researching a current plan and a finish material in elementary school. As a result, this study will benefit in planning both the exterior and interior environments of color.

  • A two-plan sampling system is proposed for a failure-censored life testing when the lifetime follows a Weibull distribution with known shape parameter. The proposed sampling system is based on a switching rule, for switching between the tightened and the normal inspection levels when lots are submitted for inspection in the order of production or in some other systematic way. The design parameters of the proposed sampling system are determined by the two-point approach considering the producer's risks and the consumer's at the specified acceptable reliability level and the lot tolerance reliability level, respectively. It has been observed that the proposed system requires only a single failure for the observation.

  • It is recommended to have symmetric plan and elevation in structural design of hight-rise building structures to reduce torsional response of the structures. However it is not always allowed to do so due to architectural purposes. in many cases high-rise buildings are asymmetric. The purpose of this study is to predict the torsional behavior of high-rise building structures with asymmetric plan. Equivalent lateral stiffness and deformation shape factor are used for prediction of torsional response of high-rise buildings. Overall torsion of a structure is estimated by equivalent lateral stiffness and torsion of each floor is estimated by deformation factor in each 2-D lateral force resisting elements.
