  • Kamiinsamyangyoung-tang(KIT) has been widely used to treat amenorrhea and bradymenorrea caused from vital energy and blood deficit. KIT was composed of Insamyangyoung-tang, Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum and Hominis Placenta. The aim of this study is to investigate effect of KIT on Immune response and Blood formation. We investigated thymocytes, splenocytes population, ${\gamma}$-interferon, IL-2, IL-4, NO and phagocytic activity. We found that KIT had no effect on the Th and Tc cell population of thymocytes, Th cell population of splenocytes and ${\gamma}$-interferon quantity was decreased. KIT decreased the formation of Nitric Oxide from abdominal macrophage, on the other hand, it had no influence on the quantity of IL-2, IL-4.

Methods 13 year old girl was treated with Hominis placenta pharmacopuncture microneedle therapy system and Ganoderma lucidum pharmacopuncture mesotherapy on the alopecia lesion for 20 months. Herbal medication, meridian pharmacopuncture therapy and physiotherapy were also used to reduce physical symptoms. Results The patient had a relapse of hair loss with changing alopecia types, but eventually alopecia has been resolved and maintained throughout the Korean medicine treatment. Conclusions This study shows the effect of the Korean medical treatments for a pediatric patient with alopecia. And more research is needed to study about patients with different types of alopecia.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the effect of Korean medicine treatment on ocular motility disorders (ptosis, bilateral upward gaze palsy, adduction impairment, and strabismus) caused by thalamus, midbrain and pontine infarctions. Methods : The patient was treated by using acupuncture, hominis placenta pharmacoacupuncture, and electroacupuncture treatment. The change of ptosis was evaluated by measurement of palpebral fissure width. The change of gaze palsy and strabismus were evaluated by comparison the photographs of the extraocular movements of patient. Strabismus also was evaluated by corneal reflex test. Results : Gaze palsy and strabismus were improved. Ptosis disappeared after Korean medicine treatment. Conclusions : Korean medicine treatment should be effective for the ocular motility disorders caused by thalamus, midbrain and pontine infarctions.

Most of all is used Bee Vemon Phamcopuncure and all of them used Acupuncture and Medicine therapies. And Groups used Phamacopuncture such as ʻBee Venomʼ,ʻHominis Placentaʼ, ʻSoyeomʼ, ʻBUMʼ,ʻJungsongoulhyulʼetc are statistically improved compared to unused Groups. Conclusions : Acupuncture and Phamacopuncture are useful methods to improve the Peripheral Facial Paralysis, but further researchs are needed.

  • Vitiligo does not have a baneful influence on life and function of the body directly, but is a serious disease in that most patients suffer from difficulties in social life and considerable stress. We cured a vitiligo patient with a few depigmented patches in front of the left ear using aqua-acupuncture with hominis placenta and psoraleae fructus extract. Since this is just one case report, more case studies and research will be necessary.

  • Objectives Despite the increasing use of Ja-ha-guh (Hominis-placenta ) pharmacopuncture in rehabilitative medicine field, its standard compound has yet to be investigated. The purpose of this study is to provide standardization for future studies and increase satisfaction of patients by utilizing standard pharmacopuncture. Methods Alanine and leucine were selected as potential standard compounds. LC/MS was used to devise an analytic method. This analytic method was subject to validation. According to validation guideline of Korea Food and Drug Administration, the specificity, linearity, precision, range, quantitative limits, detection limits and accuracy were measured. With this analysis, 3 lots of Ja-ha-guh pharmacopuncture were analyzed. Results Because the specificity, linearity, precision, range, quantitative limits, detection limits and accuracy meet criteria of the guideline, the analytic method was validated. It was found that Ja-ha-guh pharmacopuncture contained $211.02{\pm}7.28ug/ml$ of alanine and $372.03{\pm}7.58ug/ml$ of leucine. Conclusions Both alanine and leucine appear to be suitable standard compounds. These results are likely to contribute to further standardization of Ja-ha-guh for medical use.

  • Objective : This study was designed to find out whether NS(normal saline) is able to be constituted as an appropriate control group for HHT(Hwangryunhaedoktang herbal acupuncture) and HP(Homnis Placenta herbal acupuncture). Methods : NS and two herbal acupuncture were inserted into Quchi(LI 11) of the subjects. After 5 minutes the subjects completed a questionnaire rating the intensity of 21 kinds of acupuncture sensation; hurting, penetrating, sharp, aching, intense, spreading, radiating, tingling, pricking, stinging, pulling, heavy, dull, numb, electric, shocking, hot, burning, cool, pulsing, and throbbing. We compared the subjective acupuncture sensation between the two groups. Results : As for HHT seven items of the acupuncture sensation were significantly different from NS. In case of HP just two items were significantly different from NS. Conclusion : We found that NS may be able to be an placebo herbal acupuncture for HP. Further study is needed for the appropriate placebo herbal acupuncture.

  • Objective : Oriental medical treatment may be possibility or effect in patients with facial nerve paralysis caused by traumatic temporal bone fracture. Methods : The authors compared objectively improvement state of patient that operated acupuncture, herbal medicine and herbal acupuncture. Results : 1. A Facial nerve travel long and pass by narrow bone canal in temporal bone. so slow progressive paralysis is caused by nerve swelling and impedimental blood circulation in bone canal, if bruise happens. 2. At patients with traumatic facial nerve paralysis, acupuncture(LI TE centered operation), herbal medicine(理氣祛風散, 加味補益湯加滅 etc..) and herbal acupucture(SY-消炎, Hominis Placenta-紫河車, JGH-中氣下陷) are effective to improving symptoms. 3. In general, everyone consider surgical operation first of all, in the case of having traumatic facial nerve paralysis. Through this case, the authors are thought that can attempt access of Oriental medical treatment without doing surgical operation.

The change of eye movement and strabismus were evaluated by comparison the photographs of the extraocular movements of patient. Strabismus also was evaluated by corneal reflex test. Results : Adduction of both eyes were improved after Korean medicine treatment. The amplitude and frequency of nystagmus showed a tendency to decrease in both eyes. Conclusions : Korean medicine treatment should be effective for the idiopathic bilateral internuclear ophthalmoplegia.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the Korean medical treatment on sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSNHL). Methods : The patient who has been diagnosed SSNHL had symptoms with hearing loss, tinnitus, and aural fullness. The patient was received outpatient to Dunsan oriental hospital for 3 months and was treated with oriental medicine(acupuncture, herbal-medicine, converting of Hominis placenta, warm needling and vapor treatment). Two approaches were used in order to evaluate the effect of the treatment. The hearing recovery was measured with pure tone audiometry, and the decrease of tinnitus and aural fullness was identified by patient's subjective expression. Results : The patient has his hearing restored fully and the symptoms of SSNHL accompanied with adjunctive symptoms including tinnitus and aural fullness were improved. Conclusions : This study shows that the Korean medical treatment effects on the SSNHL.
